Have you ever asked anyone: 'can you recommend an honest mechanic'?…read moreAs consumers who work hard for our pay, we have a fear of having a 'bad' mechanic experience and spending lots of $'s. I think most all of us can tell a bad 'mechanic story.' Few of us can tell a 'good mechanic' story but this is one. I recommend you talk to Billy on the phone, he will give you the straight scoop. The issue was a 2004 Mazda 6 that had a 'check engine light' on. The car is tagged in NC and the registration expires the end of May. In Carolina you can't get your registration renewed unless your vehicle can pass a State inspection. After talking to Billy on the phone he said bring it in let's take a look; It was almost 5p on Friday when I got there. I think most people are ready to roll @ 5p on a Friday. He has straight up and professional. He said we will run a diagnostics on it and if we can fix it we will but we'll call you if it's going to cost you money. We spoke on Monday morning. He said we ran the diagnostics and we can't find an issue and there is no bad code history. What's the charge I asked? No charge he said, all we did is run the codes and nothing is wrong with it so you can come pick it up and theres no charge. Now we are holding our fingers that the check engine light doesn't come on before we get it to NC for a State Inspection so we can THEN get the registration renewed before the end of the month. So that's the rest of the story. I would not hesitate to recommend these guys.

Once I got into my car, I noticed that I needed an oil change and quickly resorted to the next-door location at the time. The owner was a lovely older, Persian man, very patient, so kind, and took the time to explain everything to me. As a woman who is younger, I always feel nervous that I'm being overcharged or ripped off when I try a new shop. However, I cannot express enough how I did not experience an ounce of this here. I believe the name of the shop is different online, and it can be tough to locate the exact spot. I would certainly suggest the owner of the business update the google listing for easier identification. I went there again recently (at this point I know it by memory and it's saved me quite a few times) and unfortunately learned that the owner had sold the business. I sincerely wish him well, and I still encountered great workers this time. Still very kind, quick and professional and they also operate very courteously. I will always remember this spot when my car is in need of a quick state inspection or oil change in the area!

I wanted to give this place a try, as they had great reviews, and they were great. I came to this…read morelocation on 10/24 and 10/25/2023. I showed up around 2:10 and was quickly attended to. I wanted an oil and filter change with my own high-quality oil and filter supplied. Carlos was great and took care of it quickly for me. In the end the oil and filter change cost me $37, even with my own materials supplied, which isn't a bad deal for their time and disposal services, all things considered. I had intended to get a VA emissions/inspection done the same day, but for whatever reason, the inspector had to leave early that day (10/24). Thinking maybe I had missed an hours chart or calendar online I asked Carlos about that instance, and he said it isn't something that usually happens, and is quite irregular. There was another customer who came into the shop while I was there wanting a VA emissions/inspection too, and left annoyed/disappointed. Hopefully this inspector isn't costing the shop too much in his failure to deliver his services. They said he'd be back the next day, so I came in at the same time the next day (10/25) - It was only right down the road from my place of work. The shop was small, but comfortable. There's a small bathroom, a few chairs and a bench seat. There is a complimentary charging station, on the front desk. One improvement that the shop could make is their mounting solution for their plaques on the wall as you walk in. The strong winds were blowing their plaques off the wall, because they were only held on by a cork-board push-pin. I would recommend a more permanent and substantial attachment method. I also thought that it was amusing when I noticed they had, not one, not two, but FOUR stickers in the main shop window showing what credit cards they accepted... Hey, I guess as long as they're displayed and honored, right? One positive thing that I saw over other shops in the area was that there was a buzzer built into the desk, for you to ring, so you aren't sitting idle and just hoping that an office staff member or mechanic sees you standing there in the office. They also have a few spots for dedicated customer parking right as you pull into the shops strip. Obviously from what was stated, I didn't have any 'repairs' done, but I am always on the lookout for a good independent shop. I had a good time at this shop and shall be recommending it to other friends and persons in need, in the future.

Since moving to Virginia I come here for anything that is not an oil change or a state inspection (mostly because I live in Alexandria and Manassas is a bit of a hike), but my fiancee has been coming here for years with nothing but good comments. One example was a problem with her Honda Civic that the dealership told her would be $3,100 to fix. Logan found the same problem and another that the dealership did not find and fixed the car for $1,600. Most jobs are completed same-day if you call ahead to let them know you are coming. The work done here lasts and those that work here are very nice. Furthermore, they will describe problems in lay-speak so you can understand what is happening with your car even if you are not a gear-head. Logan taught (not sure if he still does) a class for people about cars so they can be educated enough to not be taken advantage of at other service shops. The building is a little hidden from the main road, so finding the place is helped by using Google Maps or a GPS. There is a lobby for you to wait while they work on your car, and though it is small, it features a television, free coffee, filtered water, and free wi-fi. Bottom Line: tucked away in a small unassuming building, is this great car doctor with excellent bedside manner.
