Recently, I have searched high and low for more of these (sold out,) pants locally and even on the Internet, but decided to continue to support the small business Shirt Tales instead. I was hoping for more Capri pants which were out of stock. Instead, she offered to have her seamstress hem the longer pants to look like Capri's with the little side slit at the hem for a nominal fee. That is a person who goes all out to please her customers. Since I live 2 hours from the shop, I called and ordered them to be shipped. What was so adorable, was that the owner offered to meet me in a nearby city in the Bay Area to bring them to me since she is coming to visit a friend anyway. It really touched me how genuinely caring and sweet this owner is and how she is willing to go the EXTRA MILE. (Pun intended!) I am very glad to be a repeat customer and when I am in town I will always revisit her store. Meanwhile, ordering over the phone and having them shipped is WELL worth my time and money! SCAM ALERT - DON'T BE NEXT! Consigned many items May 2025…read more First time dealing with this store and new owner Emilie. Business uses online inventory system that was incorrect/incomplete from day one. I had to update/correct. Owner doesn't keep updated. That should have been my first red flag. During the contract period (approx 3 months) some items consigned sold. When I requested payment however, many items sold had not been noted to my account. After making effort to collect what was due me for the items sold I noticed items remaining consigned that should still be in-store "disappeared" before the end of my contract. I have tried unsuccessfully at least 5 times to recover missing items or get paid for the sale. My contract ended July 2025. Per contract, payment is to be requested and made within 90 days for items sold. Emilie doesn't show up or leaves minutes before I arrive in effort to avoid paying me or resolving the situation. A week ago (August 2025) she was a no-show again at her other business location the new thrift store next to Big Trees Market in Arnold where we were scheduled to meet. BOTTOM LINE, TO DATE EMILIE HAS NOT RETURNED MY PROPERTY AND HAS NOT PAID ME FOR THOSE ITEMS! I've initiated filing formal complaints to the appropriate parties and am considering small claims court. I have written documentation for everything in this post. CONSIGNERS AND BUYERS BEWARE. Consigners, you may not get your property back if it doesn't sell, you may not get paid if it does sell. Buyers, you may unknowingly be purchasing items that legally belong to someone else who will not get paid for your purchase. It's my understanding Emile is the new owner of this business for about a year now so reviewers please don't rely on any positive reviews for this busines prior to 2024 to guide you.

I enjoy visiting museums, art galleries and art studios. I am in awe when I view many of the amazing works created by the artists. Thankfully, Murphys has its share of art galleries where one can go to appreciate a variety of creations. The newest one to open is Independent. The store is a working studio for the owner. It is also a retail location where customers can purchase paintings, woodwork, children's clothing, soy candles, ceramics and glass work. Most of the art is produced locally. Independent also carries art supplies so you can let your creativity flow. I feel it is so important to support our creative artists. They create beautiful pieces of art in so many forms for us to enjoy. So, if you ever have one of those days when you can't think of anything to do, go visit an art gallery and support the artists. For instance, this shop does not know that sales tax is generated by the state the item is shipped to, when selling online. All in all, I think that there are much better options for your dollar when shopping vintage clothing.
