This is one of the examples of only having 5 starts to give. First this place for a sports bar gets 3.5 stars just for location and decor of an amazing bar. Then the drink selection and then the variety of food. The crew had a Chicago dog while I enjoyed a Polish sandwich with tater tots. This is a fun place to hangout before and after the ball game, probably during the game, too. If you're adventurous, try bar hopping all the way through to the far back of Murphy's . Then work your way out through each bar station and on to Wrigley for the ball game. If you do try, good luck getting past Harry Caray and into the show without becoming a show. read more

Of all the bars next to the stadium, this was definitely the best. The prices were not cheap, but not ridiculous for its location. The food was pretty good (had the chicken sandwich). The beer selection was great. The staff was friendly and efficient. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Definitely would go back the next time I go to Wrigley. read more

Be sure to KEEP YOUR RECEIPT or be safe & pay in cash. My 1st time visiting Chicago, someone suggested Murphy's, so why not? I went at 1pm, had the mini burgers & fries w/2 Kona draft beers. Sat on patio, great surrounds, food was yummy & I enjoyed the cold beer. Staff was friendly. Food took awhile to come out & Server never checked back after dropping it off. Not super busy but there was a game later on. I also p/u a Murphy's Tee = $30. Plus food my bill was $61. I pd w/ cc & tipped $7, = 21% of food. Bartender kept signed copy & I took unsigned. Good thing as next day I ck my account & it shows "Murphy's Bleachers updated charges​ $93.00". WHAT?! I phoned from hotel but they didn't open until 11 am & I had a plane to catch. Next day I call & ask to speak to manager. "He's not in" employee says, "Can I help?". I explain the Overcharge & he tells me to call back at 4pm & speak w/mgr, "Freddie". So I call at 4:30, Freddie's not in yet, says Vanessa. I fill her in on situation, she takes down my info​ & says she'll give it to him. That was five days ago & I haven't heard from anyone at Murphy's. I waited tables & bartended while in college. The amount on the printout I signed & that shows on my receipt is the amount that was entered when my card was scanned. It had to be manually changed to the higher, incorrect $93 at the end of that days business in order to post to my account by the next morning. That's a $25 difference that I didn't authorize. However this happened, they don't seem to give a damn about correcting it. That's a really crappy way to run a business, IMO. I rarely write reviews yet the service from Murphy's Bar bartender has to be known. First, asked this Gandalf-wanna-be tough guy with sleeves cut off his shirt if the outside was open. "Closes in an hour," was his gruff response. Rather than, come in, what can I get you? Then we sat inside since he didn't tell us who'd recruiting on us outside. Their tables were left together for a big party, pushed together and not reset. We sat there since it was closest to service since they only had bartenders working, at least it appeared since we sat for 15mims until "Gandolf-wannabe" walked up and didn't ask, "What can I get you?" Yet asked, "How many do you have?" Which he seemed annoyed to have to do the job they should've done after the takes were left pushed together from the last party. Gandalf then proceed to aggressively pull the tables away as if he's expecting a rush of people on a very slow Wednesday at 9pm. Then said, menus on the QR code after I said we were going to order food. I've been in the hospitality business for years, managing clubs and bars in LA, San Jose and Chicago. This guy needs to learn how to represent that historic bar at all times not just on game dats when it's packed. What a fun place!! We wanted to come here and then jump around. Unfortunately, I got my phone locked in a charging booth and had to wait for a manger to come and unlock (hey, I was drinking! Don't judge!). Needless to stay, we stuck around for much longer than expected. We came here prior to going over the Wrigley Field for the Guns N Roses concert! So many fun people!!! We met another couple who had extra Tix (better seats) so we got to sit with them and had great seats. They were super fun! As you can see from the pictures we had a blast! I visited before a cubs game and the atmosphere was filled with noise and chatter about the upcoming game. Went here for a private event. I have heard about Murphy's Bleachers, as it is almost legendary, and had a great time! A must go to place if you are a true sports fan. They have an expansive collection of Sports memorabilia, something for everyone. This place has been here for a long time, almost 80 years. You can come here before or after a Cubs game for a drink and some food. But, the best time to come is on a non-game day and a big plus is if it's raining. You will practically have the place to yourself, except for die hard regulars. It was a rainy day when we went here, we got to walk around the whole place and take in the atmosphere without the big crowds. On busy days, the bar in the back is less crowded, head there to avoid the traffic. On a nice day, grab a beer, A Chicago style hot dog, sit outside or head up to the roof top and enjoy the view of beautiful Wrigley Field! read more

This review is for a private event that we attended in the back room of Murphy's. A friend of mine co-authored a book (Cubsession: Famous Fans of Chicago's North Side Baseball Team) and the book launch was held there. Makes sense since it is a book about Cubs fans. Honestly, I think unless you are a Cubs fan, you can't fully appreciate this bar and I can honestly say I don't get what the hype is about except it is across the street from the park and you can get ballpark food without waiting in line. It is dog friendly, which if you are a dog owner, is a great thing (I am not). Got a glass of Chardonnay in a plastic cup for $8...too much for a mediocre wine. Didn't even want to ask if they had bubbles. But the bartender was nice and service was quick. The servers seemed very nice. We walked into the bar looking for the launch party and a woman waiting on a table immediately looked up, smiled and said hello. I give them props for allowing my GF to do her launch there. They also allowed an AM radio team to broadcast live during the event...think they were speaking to some of the folks that were interviewed in the book (Pat Brickhouse, etc). read more

Location, location, location. This is the king of sport bars in Chicago and a pilgrimage destination for baseball fans everywhere; particularly Cub fans. Located in the shadow of Wrigley field, it is like an extension of the park itself, and an institution in Chicago for around 80 years. One can feel the history of the Cubs as you enter the bar. The place has several rooms, all with walls displaying baseball/Cubs memorabilia. There is also an outdoor patio for those hot summer days, or those who prefer alfresco dinning, and drinking. Somehow beer tastes better at Murphy's Bleachers; particularly on game days. And if the cubs are winning, make sure you are not driving, the atmosphere alone is intoxicating. During my last visit, I was there for a Captain Morgan rum event, but as good as the event was, and it was great, I spent most of my time on a trip down memory lane, from the first to the last time I visited Murphy's Bleachers. read more

Great neighborhood bar! I came here for an Oktoberfest celebration. For $30 ($35 at the door) you got all you can eat food that included chicken, bratwurst, pork, and five different sides. Also special Oktoberfest beers and wine. I came here right when it started at 3:30 and there weren't as many people there yet but then later was very packed. Come early to get a table! Obviously as a Cubs fan I will be partial. The bar is your typical sports bar on non game days. Game days, expect it to be busy, loud and alive with Cubs fans. For non home-game days it is a great place to grab a drink, look at a ton of Cubs memorabilia and be sitting next door to historic Wrigley Field. Daily drink and food specials always help and being able to get out of the heat of the summer for a cold beer that won't set you back a paycheck or two is worth it. One of my favorite spots is to stand outside where they have cash bars and people can enjoy the weather before or after the game. We did a Wrigley tour and after the family and I were looking to grab food. Honestly did not expect them to be open as many other places were not. The food was awesome. Son ordered the ribs and they were one of the best we have ever had. Everything we ate was really good and the waitress was running on this day. She could not have been better and at the end they discounted our bill and not from a complaint but because they felt bad they were running slow due to a large event they had at the same time. Forget the other places around Wrigley this is the place to eat and drink. read more
