As we drove down Battlefield Rd, neon lights and a mechanical hula girl caught our eye. We knew right away, Pineapple Whip was a place we had to check out. This place feels like an American Classic. Family-owned and operated, they make one of the best frozen treats I've ever had. It's this delightful fruit juice based soft serve that is remarkably dairy-free. While we each ordered the classic pineapple, we sampled the alternative (it happened to be grape tonight) and we would have been pleased with either choice. But more than just a great product, Pineapple Whip is an experience. Zach, who's part of the family that owns and operates these three gems, was a great ambassador for the city. He made us feel right at home. We chatted for a bit, learned the story of the business and promised ourselves that we'd return the next time our travels lead us this way. The stand is dog-friendly and our pooch had a great time on her visit as well. All in all, you'd be making a serious mistake if you didn't stop into Pineapple Whip on a road trip through Springfield.

It seems to be part bakery where you can order beautiful wedding and special occasion cakes, part tea room where you can sit down for lunch, and then there's an entire area that gave me Hallmark gift shop vibes. I didn't get a chance to explore that section, but it looked super cute. Chrissy was my server, and I think there may have only been one other server working during the lunch rush, but she was turning and burning and doing a wonderful job. I ordered the crab Rangoon soup of the day and a chicken salad sandwich with extra onions, plain kettle chips, and their mango unsweetened tea. That tea was DELICIOUS, and I don't even like tea! The chicken salad sandwich on the croissant was delicious too, and honestly I was being greedy because I wanted to try even more stuff. They also brought out the cutest little complimentary sweet that reminded me of an Italian wedding cake cookie without the actual cookie part, almost like a little bite of icing, and it was delicious. The crab Rangoon soup was probably the only thing that didn't quite hit the mark for me. I finished it and it was perfectly fine, but I don't know why I didn't realize "crab" in crab Rangoon soup in Springfield, Missouri was probably going to mean imitation crab. I was also expecting a creamier broth with more of that sweet-savory, cream cheese and chive flavor I associate with crab Rangoon. This was a thinner creamy broth and tasted more like an imitation crab chowder to me. I'd give the soup itself about 3.5/5 because it was actually a pretty good imitation crab chowder, it just didn't taste like crab Rangoon to me. Before I left, I grabbed an ooey gooey butter pecan cookie and a chocolate chip cookie to go because there was absolutely no way I was walking past that bakery case twice and leaving empty-handed. Overall, such a charming little find and exactly the kind of locally owned lunch spot I love stumbling across when I'm traveling for work. I'd definitely come back!

This is a new place that is developing its menu but what they have so far was delicious! I had the peanut butter whoopie pie, blueberry crumble muffin and a cinnamon roll muffin. I'm going to have to slow down because these are sweets and I'm heading to a sugar coma :) I heated the cinnamon roll muffin up with my coffee.... holy moly... The blueberry crumble is still half left and it was a big cup of goodness. There was knick knack candies and gadgets - kids are going to love this place. The place is colorful and well done. The bright splashes can make any one a morning person - it will at least make you smile. There is seating if you want to meet with friends. Plenty of drink options that I will try next and the prices are fair. Yay!! Dessert!! And it's a great idea for Clever.
