As we drove down Battlefield Rd, neon lights and a mechanical hula girl caught our eye. We knew right away, Pineapple Whip was a place we had to check out. This place feels like an American Classic. Family-owned and operated, they make one of the best frozen treats I've ever had. It's this delightful fruit juice based soft serve that is remarkably dairy-free. While we each ordered the classic pineapple, we sampled the alternative (it happened to be grape tonight) and we would have been pleased with either choice. But more than just a great product, Pineapple Whip is an experience. Zach, who's part of the family that owns and operates these three gems, was a great ambassador for the city. He made us feel right at home. We chatted for a bit, learned the story of the business and promised ourselves that we'd return the next time our travels lead us this way. The stand is dog-friendly and our pooch had a great time on her visit as well. All in all, you'd be making a serious mistake if you didn't stop into Pineapple Whip on a road trip through Springfield.

Thankfully, my trusty list of Yelp restaurants was handy, and I searched through ones that offered dessert and found this gem. We went on a weekday after 5 PM and surprisingly, we were able to slip right into a curb parking spot. This area is super cute and I was quite excited to try Prairie Pie for the first time. We made our way inside and were immediately greeted by someone at the counter. She was very nice and informative, took our order after giving us a moment to review the menu, and then we took a seat. We purchased an assortment of cookies and a couple slices of pie to sample there and at home, in addition to a chai tea latte and a lemonade to drink. The chai tea latte was for me and it was delicious. It was topped with whipped cream and what I believe with cinnamon. It was a warm tea and very good. It's probably one of my favorite chai tea lattes that I've ever had honestly. It definitely kicked Starbucks in the bum. I had the honey and sea salt pie while I was there, and I have some cookies and a slice of pumpkin pie to try at the house. The honey sea salt pie was delicious. It had a very generous honey flavor and the sea salt cut the sweetness in such a perfect way. It was a beautiful balance between sweet and salty. My husband enjoyed his confetti cookies and his lemonade. They also offer entrée options of various sandwiches and more. Unfortunately, we had dinner prior, so I didn't pay much attention to that part of the menu since we just came for a dessert, but I'm looking forward to going back and trying some of those options next time. Highly recommend stopping by Prairie Pie for a quick bite. The honey sea salt pie is one of my new favorites. Looking forward to seeing what other options they have in the future. Also, while you're here, make your way over to the store across the brick path. I can't recall the name of it, but it's a super cute little shop with lots of unique things to purchase. We were very pleased with our trip to this area and can't wait to go back
