They got out there quickly, sent photos and gave me details on what they found, noted that the issue I *thought* I had was not really an issue (which saved me a lot of unnecessary expense). Murph showed up with a teenager in the car. He did not even bring in a tool bag to diagnose the dishwasher. Did not bother pulling out the appliance either. Charged $85 and was on his way. I had another repair company comer over and they pulled the unit out. Checked the wiring and the dishwasher worked again. Won't recommend Murph. read more

It was right before Thanksgiving 2015. I was making bacon in the oven (yes, I bake my bacon). The timer went off but the danged door to my oven would NOT open! grrrr! I tried everything I could think of to get that danged oven open: pulled the manual, troubleshooting, YouTube, let the oven cool down. Everything I could think of I tried. But nope. Nothing worked. And the bacon is danged crispy by then. grrrr! I was busy. I had appointments. It was a FRIDAY afternoon! I google appliance repair. It's overwhelming. But then I came to my senses and logged into Yelp. Sure enough I had plenty of choices. Called one company first. NEVER called me back. Even still to this day. Next I called Murf. Left a voicemail. Hallelujah, he called me back within a half hour! By this time of day it's much later. I had stuff to do. He told me he was very busy. But ya know what? He didn't leave me hanging! He worked me into his schedule. Perhaps I sounded a bit like a damsel in distress. I dunno. BUT, this guy is the best and on that day my knight in shining armor. Guess what else? He's reasonably priced! I couldn't ask for much more than this in a world of contractors and "service" folks that blow you off. Not only was he quick to respond (leave a message, people, chances are he's in someone's house providing them a great service), very fair & reasonable in his price, he told me if it happened again to call him and he'd come back out at NO charge! My only complaint is that he did not return our call as quickly as we'd have liked. After paying some schlub $50 just to come out and say, "yeah, there's nothing wrong with your washer," only to have it continue operating out of balance and "dancing" every time the spin cycle started, Murf called me back. We explained the issue, everything that went on, and he recommended just getting a new washer. He could have come out and charged me his fee, but instead chose to recommend a shop for great refurbished appliances. read more

I could not have been more delighted with their assistance and knowledge, even though it became obvious fairly early on that the machine was probably not repairable at a cost-feasible rate, so there was not a thing in it for them- they were just helpful, forthcoming, knowledgeable, friendly and polite. Despite the fact that it didn't look like they would be doing any work for us, they thoroughly researched the specific model and problem I reported. The only reason i didn't give them 5 stars is because I find it sad and ecologically appalling that specialist workmen can no longer go in and repair the clutches of transmissions- they only replace them. So these big machines that should be made to be repairable go to the trash dumps. It's true of cars and everything else. It's largely the manufacturer's fault and trickles down the the repair guy because the thing wasn't designed to last, to be repaired and the manufacturer won't supply reasonably-priced parts for repair. This machine (which is non-computerized) is in excellent condition and ran perfectly until 2 days ago. I think it is tragic that we can't repair machine parts anymore but must replace entire systems; that costs as much as another new unrepairable machine. In poorer countries (where I have lived), there are plenty of repair persons who fix your cars and appliances of all kinds, just like there used to be in the states. Had Murfs come to assess the machine for repair (before my trusting mother foolishly called Easy's which is associated with Jim's appliances where my folks have bought their appliances for decades), the cost to check out the machine would have been $20 cheaper from Murf's. read more

The August 1st Power Outage shut-down our Dryer, this is in the same week our Washer went out, when it rains it pours. Called up Murf's and once again had amazing customer service that I could trust. He went above and beyond just fixing the machine by taking it apart and cleaning out all the lint that built up over many years posing a fire hazard. I recently had Murf''s Appliance Repair replace a defective thermostat in the oven at my rental property in Eagle. My appliances are "high end" but are getting older and replacement of any of them would be expensive to say the least. Murf responded to my my repair request promptly, diagnosed the problem quickly, ordered the part, and returned to complete the repair. Murf also repaired the microwave some years ago and saved me a considerable amount of money on that repair as the microwave and oven are one unit. We got off to a rocky start, but all ended well. I called on a Monday morning. the phone picked up, but nobody responded. Sounded like I was in somebody's pocket. Called back, sent to VM. No response Monday or Tuesday, so I left another VM Wednesday morning and Murf responded that afternoon very apologetic, juggling some front office moves apparently. He actually came over right away to look at my under-performing dryer and determined it was a vent issue, not the dryer itself, so he recommended another company to resolve my issue. If you have a chance to strike up a conversation, he has an interesting back story surrounding law and entrepreneurship. Murf Rocks! I have a little home rented in Boise, Idaho. I called him and asked him to take a look a washer that my tenants said was making noise. The lady on the phone was super nice....texted me when she reached the tenants, made everything happen perfectly. Murf is AWESOME!!!!! I would recommend him over and over again. If I could give him a thousand stars I would! I got to my moms house for a visit from out of town and discovered that she hadn't been using her dishwasher for weeks because it was making funny sounds. I am not from the area so didn't know who to call to get it fixed for her. I called many appliance repair places and MURF was the ONLY company to call me back immediately and fit me in to his schedule the very next day even though we live far out. He stayed in touch on the day of repair to let us know when he was coming! When he came to fix my mom's dishwasher, he diagnosed the problem, explained everything to us, fixed it and charged us not only an HONEST rate, but a VERY affordable rate. Murf was great! He was able to come out on a weekend to take care of a refrigerator that stopped working at one of my rental units. He fixed the problem in a timely manner and at a reasonable rate. He also happened to notice that there was a light that needed to be replaced and returned at a later date to replace it with no additional charge for the time/labor. Murf gets the job done quick and efficiently. That's really about the only thing I can say positive. His motto is "One Fix, That's It". His motto should be "Two Trips, & A Trick". He overcharged us an insane amount. I was charged the amount of $280 to fix our appliance when the part to fix it was only $20. Definitely would recommend any other appliance business. Had another appliance guy come out for a similar issue and I was told I shouldn't have been charged more than $80 for the service and parts. I was also told that Murf "rips people off all the time". I asked Murf if he could look at another appliance in our house that needed fixed once he finished and he completely blew it off. Once the job was done and he collected his $$$, I again asked politely if he could try fixing another appliance in our house that wasn't working and I thoroughly explained what seemed to be wrong with it. He didn't seem to be listening or even slightly interested at all and replied "I'm short on time and I would have to charge you anyways, just go ahead and flip the breaker" than walked out the front door. I was very pleased with the service we received from Murf's. They were on time and explained everything very clearly. Most important to me was that they didn't try to sell me things I didn't need and it seemed to be important that to them that the customer know the price of everything upfront, They made it clear they would rather offer reasonable rates and hard work to get repeat business than overcharge people once. The repair man was very knowledgeable and seemed to enjoy his job. It's nice to occasionally pay less than you are expecting for a job well done. We discovered a warm refrigerator Wed night, a call to Murf's was made thurs morning, leaving three contact numbers for return call. No return call. Thurs evening another call was made requesting a call back, and again, no return call. Friday no return call. So much for customer service. THANK GOODNESS for Murf's! (Nampa, ID) Our refrigerator/freezer had slowly been dropping temperature over the course of 2 weeks. I thought for sure we were going to have to get a new fridge! Due to budgetary reason, we needed to wait until pay day before we could have the repair done. (Luckily, a relative had room in her freezer for our food!) When I found Mur'fs add on Craigslist, I was hesitant, but I called anyway. Kim is an absolute DOLL! She explained everything to me about their pricing, what I should expect from any repair company, and even told me to check them out online - even before she asked me to make an appointment. Long story short, Murf's technician Dan is very kind and friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and we would welcome him back in our home anytime. We have a cat and dog - the cat in particular is very skittish around strangers, but he had NO qualms with Dan. Animals know when people have a good spirit. Dan is that guy. He explained things to my husband and I about the problem and determined we'd need a heating element that would have to be ordered, and he could come back the following Tuesday or Wednesday after the part arrived. (This was late Friday afternoon.) He came back first thing Wednesday morning, changed out the element and told me there is a 90 day parts and labor guarantee. Dan spent a little over 2 hours all in all, and I swear only charged us for ONE hour plus the cost of the part. It was less that $150! Apparently they can repair everything - refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves (gas & electric), dishwashers, & even microwaves. They really believe in good customer service, and it shows. To quote Dan, "We don't overcharge people, we take care of them, and I can sleep at night." Well, we can too. Thanks Murf, for running your business this way. And thanks for hiring Kim and Dan! I recently called Murf's Appliance Repair because my washer would not drain. I had checked all the hoses and they were clear so I was pretty sure the pump had something stuck in it. I filled out the online form and said what I thought was wrong and asked for an estimate. We had previously used them about 3 years ago and they seemed pretty good. The next day I got a call from Tina. She was friendly and I told her my problem. The gentleman who did the repair was supposed to come between 3:30 and 5:00. He didn't show up until about 5:30 and I had pulled one of my kids out of school early to make sure I was there before 3:30. He was there between 30 and 45 minutes and then informed me that this was my lucky day and I only owed him for labor. When he told me how much that was, I was very shocked. I was charged $122.50. I felt like it was very high especially when I saw other ads for a flat rate labor of $45.00. He also used some of my equipment which was find, but you would think they might take that into account when billing too. I had my sister call for an estimate and Tina told her that it is $59.00 just to come out which is already more than other companies that I would have gone with had I been told that while talking to Tina. I searched the website for that and no where did it say that they charge that just to come look or I would have tried to find it cheaper. That was then used as labor as well if something needed to be worked on. So that means that their labor costs over $100 an hour. They also say on their website that you can get an estimate over the phone, but Tina told my sister that they didn't like to do that very often. I am not saying that this miscommunication is totally the fault of Murf's employees. I didn't know to ask the right questions and I will be better informed next time I need a service performed. In short, I felt buyers remorse when the technician left my house and wished I had been better informed of all their charges and I would have looked for a cheaper place. They did fix my washer and for that I am thankful, but no one likes to feel taken advantage of and I definitely felt that way. read more
