I called Medfords office to make the appointment here in grants pass and they told me 2:15 so I shows up but she explained it was scheduled at 1. So I apologized and asked if it was too late or do I have to reschedule? But she like sighed and said "no it should be okay." Receptionists, doctors and dental assistants are ALL extremely friendly, informative and helpful. When I overslept for my appointment like a buffoon, and woke up in the hotel just as I was supposed to be arriving, I called them up & they managed to squeeze me in later that same day, even though their schedule was pretty booked by the looks of it (quite a few patients were there when I arrived), knowing that I didn't live in the area. As an aside, I didn't have insurance, but I looked around for options and came across the Aetna Dental Discount card, which is a very reasonable rate and deceptively simple discount plan. One wonders who it can be so turn-key: you go look up the plan, fill out your info, pay under ~$200 and somehow, semimiraculously, all of your dental expenses, INCLUDING oral surgery, prescription medication and x-rays are all discounted by 50+%! This is a great plan for freelancers, and people who are self-employed, btw. So I called these guys, knowing that their standard rates are good, to verify that this plan was all it claimed to be, and they reassured me that it was and that I could get major dental work haunting me for the past 5 insurance-less years in a single day, with no separate consultation appointment and accordingly no additional 'consultation fee' - the likes of which every place I contacted in San Francisco (quite a few) took for granted. The surgery was fast and simple, in the end - definitely not warranting the numerous appointments that other dentists attempted to book me for, greedily wringing out every penny even after I explained my financial situation and explained that I could provide very detailed dental records. Dr. Logan and his assistant conferred with me briefly as to the level of anesthesia I wished to receive during the procedure, and then sent me off with a very informative packet of information, very reasonable prescription for pain pills, and succinct, practical advice on preventing complication. As I was paying, the receptionist said, "Let me see, you may qualify for an additional discount--" on top of the one afforded me by the Aetna Dental Discount card. And indeed, she was right - there was some sort of out of town discount on top of that, and in the end, my entire procedure was under $250 (+the ~$100 for the yearlong Aetna plan)!! Places in San Francisco were quoting $500+ for the same exact procedure, even with the plan! On the following morning, they called me up to check in - a very personable call which came across as friendly and genuine. As long as I live in a 400 mile radius of these guys, Dr. Logan will be my go-to dentist!

Instead I had an…read moreabsolutely wild call with Tiffany at the desk the day of my appointment for an exam (Mon) where she berated me for not returning their Friday 11:37 am phone call by 2pm before they closed early for the weekend. I told her I was at work, but that was not a good enough reason apparently? She was calling to repeatedly flat out insist that my insurance was not through the company on the card I was holding in my hand, but was through HMA instead and that I needed to call them and sort this out. I repeatedly insisted that I had never heard of HMA and that it wasn't my insurance and that I was holding my insurance card in my hand and I was pretty sure it was correct. No, it was incorrect, she "wasn't trying to be argumentative" but it was absolutely incorrect and I needed to call my dentist to get my correct insurance information or I needed to call my real insurance company HMA and figure it out or I could have this insurance company that I thought was my insurance company call her and give her my information. But no, she wouldn't be trying to call the company whose card I was holding, she didn't have time before lunch. So it turns out that, yes, the card I was holding is in fact the card of my insurance provider and, yes, my dentist does in fact have my correct insurance on file and yes, they did send it to her, they just told her it could be looked up ON the HMA website. It's also the same, correct, information that I had to give them before I was able to book an appointment at Associates for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in the first place. I'm really not sure how we ended up here at all. Tiffany called back to blame it all on my dentist but I let her know I'd booked with another oral surgeon instead and cancelled my appointment at AOMS. I get that misunderstandings happen, but to be argued with like that and have someone absolutely refuse to hear me out was a huge red flag for me. If that's how patients are spoken to and treated at Associates for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery - somewhere that practices sedation dentistry and actively advertises for anxious and phobic patients - if that's how Dr. Rajagopal & Dr. Savage conduct their business I can't have any confidence that I would be treated any differently while someone is literally operating on my face. (Jokes a little on them because I fully knew that I'm nearing the max on my dental insurance and would likely be paying cash for the procedure itself, I just wanted my dental insurance to cover what it could on the exam while I saved in the meantime.
