Service Recovery or the actions of a company to recover from a service issue is the most important…read moreaspect of customer service. I would like to compliment Gateway Ford Lincoln in Pierre, South Dakota for doing one of the finer jobs of service recovery I'd seen in my days as a consumer. I've observed in my times patronizing this dealership that the staff is very much focused on customer service. They greet their customers quickly and in a friendly manner in the service area and go out of their way to accommodate schedules by providing rides to work or to the dealership. Their cost for service is reasonable and competitive with other dealerships. Last Friday, I had an oil change done on my Ford F-150 pickup. It took a short time and I received a call to retrieve it when finished. I drove the pickup home and used it over the weekend. On Monday morning I noticed that there was a pool of oil under the pickup. I opened the hood and saw that the oil filler cap was sitting on the battery. It was accidently left off when they were doing the oil change. I checked the oil levels right away and found that there was no oil showing on the dipstick. The interior of the engine compartment was covered in oil and was a real mess. The next morning, I went to the dealership and told my tale. Scott, the Service Manager, was quick to respond. He apologized profusely, dispatched a couple of technicians to my home located about 12 miles out of town, put oil into the vehicle and drove it back to the dealership where they did an extensive cleaning, inside and out. When they were done, they returned it to my home. There was no damage, the problem was fixed and the vehicle returned to my home in better condition than before it went in for the oil change. Anyone can make a mistake like the one I experienced but success is measured by how the dealership responds. I'll give them an A+ for theirs.

Called to tell them about it, and they got angry and defensive. We just wanted them to know that they shouldn't sell cars in that shape for use by young first-time drivers. They did end up taking it back, and we traded it for a more expensive used car. The salesman even said he had sold us a "piece of shxxxt" car. Now I see the car is back on their website for sale at the same price they sold it to us for. They just want the sale, and don't care about customer service, AT ALL! We are done with them.

I was in town for the Scavenger's Journey (about 4 hours away from home) when my vehicle started…read moreshaking/vibrating heavily! I was in Chamberlain, & had to wait until someone opened. They guys at CarSwap checked me out & determined the problem, but did not have the parts to get me going. They called all over the area to find someone who could help. The sent me over to Riverview Chevrolet as they were told they had some parts to help. Allison assured me right away that they would check everything over & see what they could do. She also offered me one of their vehicles to drive right away. I was too upset to take her up on it, so just went on a long walk. Chuck, one of their service techs, offered to check out my vehicle even though I had no appointment & he had other work to do. He was very thorough, & came up with a list of items that needed to be addressed--well over what the vehicle was worth. He even showed me what was wrong under the truck & showed me how it was very unsafe to drive it. He offered to fix the items that would get me home as safe as possible, for the least amount, as I would never be driving that truck again. They even threw in a free tire as one of mine was "out of round"!! Their kindness was just overwhelming!!! Later, Allison even insisted I go for lunch & get in some sales with their vehicle so that my entire day wasn't just used up in the mechanics shop!! Yes, it was a large bill, but they didn't have to add me to their list of repairs, & Chuck even worked through his lunch to put me back on the road sooner!! They went out of their way to give me the best customer service , as quickly as possible for as little cost as possible!! I am forever grateful!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
