The place has really opened up their space- it used to be crowded with a maze of tight cubicles of gallery and studios. Now, it's a wide open central gallery, with studios and smaller galleries off to the sides. In the front, they now have a coffee shop! Cool! In the back, they've paved in the side and back yards, where bands set up, and additional galleries can be found. All of the art is local, handmade, and ranges in media. Some of the art can not be purchased, as they are installation pieces. The art here is all reasonably priced, and there's a great variety of artists and vendors selling cool stuff. This place gets hopping for Second Saturday, a monthly art walk that centers around the galleries by the train tracks at South Flores. The art is just part of the scene- check out the live music too! Budding artists can rent space here to do their art, and sell it when they have events. Other than Second Saturday, you might need to book an appointment to come by many of the artists' galleries, but it seems that coffee is served all day.

The staff is super friendly and helpful, and is willing to speak with you regarding anything that has to do with western art. If you really love western art and history, and especially would like to learn more about Texas history, this is a fantastic place to visit :) ! The artwork varies from unique paintings, sculptures, artifacts and photos :) ! There also happened to be a great talk going on about Texas mapping history :D ! I also happened to visit here during the holidays :) ! So both the inside and outside of the museum were beautifully decorated for the holiday season :D ! I have visited a lot of well-known museums in the United States. And although this one is not a huge name nationwide, I liked the fact that it was small to medium-size that it made it easy and stress-free for me to get around and enjoy the various art exhibits :) ! I like visiting all kinds of museums. But for sure, it definitely is meaningful to visit these smaller museums as well because they do feel much more personal and engaging, compared to larger museums that have so many tourists that it can get overwhelming.

I have visited many Museums such as the Huntington Library, the Getty and the Gene Audrey Western Museum. We really enjoyed ourselves. The museum is a perfect size, not too big and not too small. There is a nice mix of what is on display, from an excellent collection of spurs, paintings, and artifacts. My favorites were the paintings. Most museums have very old famous painting, but the Briscoe has a large number of paintings which have been painted recently. Now don't get me wrong, Blue Boy at the Huntington is an amazing painting but the paintings at the Briscoe were so vivid and captivating. I wish I could have purchased at least a dozen of them. The colors were bright, which made me wonder if this is what it would have been like looking at a Van Gouh a year after it was painted? Even though there were contemporary painting, the subject matter was distinctly western capturing a style unlike anything I have seen before. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. For instance, we asked what's the best way to go through the museum. Start one the 3rd floor and work your way down. We highly recommend making a day of it. If you get hungry, take a break and come back. If your budget is tight, the first Sunday is open the Bexar county residence for free. Enjoy the experience.

He didn't just point out murals; he shared the stories behind them and even introduced us to one of the pioneers of San Antonio's mural movement. Such a special experience! As a San Antonio native, Brian also gave us a list of his personal favorite local spots. We couldn't hit them all, but we did make it to Teka Molino for puff tacos and fajitas... and WOW. A 10/10. Truly some of the best tacos we've ever had. We'll absolutely be back for another tour -- and more tacos!

It was a perfect balance of fantastic murals and flat terrain for all levels of riders. What truly stood out, though, was the attention to detail and the little extras that made the tour unforgettable, from riding through San Antonio's historic streets to having a sneak peek of amazing art inside Hopscotch to taking in all the visual goodness at The Pearl and let's not forget - the under-the-highway SASAI Pillars. All the stops were well-timed at picturesque murals; every aspect was well thought out. The Mural E-Bike Tour is undeniably the city's best experience. We visited the Riverwalk and surrounding area multiple times on our visit to San Antonio and it was probably the most enjoyable thing that we did while we were there. Just in my few visits, I had lots of different experiences. The Riverwalk can be calm and beautiful or it can be fun and lively and sometimes it can be all of those things just depending on where you are within the walk. Also depending on when you choose to go, as I noticed a distinctly different vibe between my daytime and nighttime visits. As soon as you drop down from the street level into the walk, it's like you're in a whole new place. The water winds through the walk so you always have a lovely view and the calming sound of water with you wherever you venture on the walk. There are tons of shops and restaurants and shaded little spots where you can just sit on a bench and enjoy the ambiance. It's clean, well maintained and surprisingly easy to navigate, especially with all the people moving through it at any particular time. Even though some spots felt crowded, I was still always able to maneuver around without feeling claustrophobic. I think it's the openness of the walk and the fact that the river running right next to you create this open space above. Anyway, I had some really nice meals here and enjoyed some good shopping, but mostly just walking and chatting with the people that I care about while enjoying the beauty of my surroundings. You should definitely put the Riverwalk at the top of your list if you're planning on visiting the area as I can definitely recommend a stop here without hesitation.

It's a sentimental location for me and I have fond memories of making the visit with my dad in my early 30s. Shops and restaurants line the tranquil water making for pleasant strolls year-round. Even in the height of tourist season, it's still easy to navigate and enjoyably get around and take in the sights. How fun it is to sit along the walk at a cafe table with lunch or a beverage and people watch.
