So again, I love a good roadside attraction, sculpture, art installation of any kind. Plus I'm a Texas girly so I had to come see the world's largest cowboy boots while in San Antonio. Had to put on my cowgirl boots too of course so I could match! I loved the sculpture up close. The boots are about 33-35 ft tall! A cute photo op for sure. It's right in front of the mall so can't miss it. A must see if you're ever in San Antonio.

A giant roadside attraction at the mall discovered when our Uber driver delivered us to Cheesecake factory in error as we were heading to a Turkish Restaurant. The boots are far out of town but fun and we grabbed a picture while driving by.

Cute roadside attraction, weirdly placed in a mall parking lot. Not ideally placed to visit or take photos but we made it work.

Easy to access. Just outside a smaller sized mall with Saks 5th Ave, Lego store, Cheesecake Factory, and other familiar shopping. Clean area. Close to the airport. So if you're visiting the area and are flying, be sure to make a quick stop on you're way back to the airport (as just as you leave it). Fun photo op.

How do you not take a photo of World's Largest Cowboy Boots? Easily seen from a road if just looking to take a quick drive by photo. They are in a somewhat unusual spot, right by the exit of the busy mall. I would probably prefer to see them on a large easily accessible lot, maybe some cacti in the background. If you come before the mall opens, you shouldn't have a problem taking a photo, but throughout the day while the mall is busy you might end up standing there for awhile hoping to get a moment without cars passing by.

What are alleged to be the "World's Largest Comboy Boots" are unquestionably big enough to lay claim to that illustrious title; they can be found at a mall close to the airport. These oversized footgear are a roadside attraction that makes for a very tempting cheesy photo opportunity; tourists enroute to the airport stop here constantly. I couldn't resist stopping myself; we took some pictures, and found the boots interesting to look at for maybe three minutes ;-)

Can we talk about how tall these are in person! I was super excited to finally see these boots in person. I really enjoyed how easy it was to find this place. Parking was kinda hard because I went at a busy time. If you go before 11am then parking is easier. This was super neat to see up close and in person. We took photos using different angles.

Big Ol' Boots! These boots are comically large and make for a fun photo op. They are right near a mall and there are plenty of places to park your vehicle at. Just be sure to look both ways before crossing the median to the boots, as this area can be busy. I recommend coming either right before the mall opens or on a weekday.

Came at the recommendation of a friend. Parking is somewhat difficult to find, since the road next to the boots are exit only. You can either turn in early or later (we did the second and parked in the parking garage). Also related to the road, it can be a little busy so to get a good picture you might have to wait for the stars to align (and cars to clear out - the couple of drivers we encountered were very accommodating and nice.)

After taking pic, the song "Die with your boots on" by Iron Maiden was playing on XM Boneyard... My life is a soundtrack...

I found myself at North Star Mall for an event... I arrived early so I knew I just had to take a selfie for Yelp of an iconic tourist stop... World's Largest Cowboys Boots ... I still had a few more minutes before the event, so I went back to my car and the song "Die with your boots on" by Iron Maiden was playing on XM Boneyard... My life has a soundtrack!

Great photo spot! My only suggestion is that you go during a time when a lot of people are not leaving the mall because your photographer will need to cross the street in order to get a photo of you and both boots. We had to wait 15 minutes or so for cars that were continuously driving by. You'll also have to park and walk over to them but the walk isn't far... just be sure to watch for cars. Enjoy!

Lights wrapped on them for the holidays.

Hahaha! Purdy darn cool them there boots are y'all. If you're going to visit or driving by North Star Mall while in San Antonio, it is worth the venture to set your eyes on these mighty masses of "art." Things really are bigger in Texas - 40 feet tall to be precise! The parking lot on that side of the mall is always congested, navigating can be difficult, and it's even harder to get that perfect shot of the boots with all of the surrounding traffic. Just a take a second, allow people to learn a little patience, and stop and snap photo - no lingering please. Texas might be deemed the "friendship state" and folks do indeed possess hospitality, but remember we're also an open-carry (scary) state. Just sayin'. ;D Tip: If in the area during the winter holidays, the boots are adorned with hundreds of shiny little lights. Quite pretty at night. Enjoy!

You know what they say, big boots...

But now that I know what it actually is, I've got to say it's great for a free downtown show. There's also a parking garage super close, and they've got chairs set up in front of the church, which is helpful. The light show itself is an artistic take on US and San Antonio history from a French artist using laser lights and sounds, but no words. There's also a great deal of religious Catholic symbolism. To be honest, I was lost for a good chunk of it. I wish they'd at least flashed the years they were showing--I couldn't really keep up with the timeframe showing was until they hit Frederick Douglass (I think?), and that was way deep in...but still everything was visually pleasing even if I didn't understand. Tips: 1) If you're sensitive to lights, bring sunglasses like I did to let your eyes adjust. The laser lights are super bright. 2) Check the website before you go. 3) It's not Christmas-y at all, but if you're up for a free 24-minute artsy history vibe, you might enjoy it more knowing ahead of time.

Ms. Tauch was a very well known sculptor in Texas. She was paid $1000 for her sculpture. The sculpture features a First Native American in a full headdress holding shallow bowls in each hand. If you can figure out how to get here without a car, this is a great vantage point to see San Antonio, and a great place to start off an adventure downtown. I've always wondered who built this, and Helene S.'s review was quite illuminating! So this sculpture is next to Sebastian's International Torch of Friendship, a maybe 30-40' high red sculpture that's hard to miss. Between this sculpture and that one is the famed Portland Loo- an outdoor free restroom. There's also the elevator that takes you down to the Riverwalk here. Standing on the bridge where this First Inhabitant sculpture is, this is a good spot to eavesdrop on the river cruises below, or just smell the Mexican food coming from Casa Rio. The Indian depicted in this carving must be a Yanaguana Indian chief, as they were the first Indians who were known to inhabit the San Antonio River area thousands of years ago. They covered an area a bit more up river near the University of Incarnate Word down along this river to where the Missions are today. Today, down the street at Hemisfair Park, you'll find Yanaguana Gardens, which celebrates this tribe.
