I bet 95% of people who see or walk over this bridge don't know it's where a scene from the movie Selena was filmed. My favorite movie quotes: "It's a bustier!" "Anything for Salinas!" Probably most popular song lyrics: Late at night when all the world is sleeping I stay up and think of you And I wish on a star That somewhere you are thinking of me too What else is there to really to say? RIP Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, 1971 - 1995 Yolanda Saldívar, Selena's killer, will be eligible for parole on March 30, 2025 (Wikipedia).

Who doesn't love the QUEEN Selena Quintanilla?! If you don't like her...what are you doing reading this review? kidding! (or not). If you've watched the classic 1997 movie Selena - with the fabulous Jennifer Lopez - you know exactly why this bridge is so important. This famous downtown landmark makes every girl from San Antonio dream of the day they will find their future love, and hopefully get proposed in the riverwalk like Selena. It is located in one of the most trafficked areas of the riverwalk which makes it a little hard to get in. If you are visiting this bridge during the summer, good luck trying to snap a picture without a few tourists in the background. During winter, you can get some of the most beautiful pictures of the riverwalks' lights from the top of this bridge.

Do we have any Selena fan's out there? Have you watched the film "Selena" starring Jennifer Lopez? Well, if you are a fan, then I highly recommend that you head on over to the San Antonio Riverwalk to visit Selena's Bridge. The Selena Bridge is really called the Robert H.H. Hugman Bridge. It is a beautiful arched stone pedestrian bridge that sits over the San Antonio River. One of the famous movie scenes of Selena starring Jennifer Lopez took place at this bridge. It is a very picturesque little pedestrian walkway bridge!! There are a few other similar looking bridges along the San Antonio Riverwalk, but they are not all Selena's Bridge. Specifically, it is located on the Riverwalk between N. Saint Mary's Street and Navarro Street. Don't forget your camera when you go!

This is a Tejano landmark you can check out at the San Antonio Riverwalk where you can walk in the steps of Selena Quintanilla! The best street access to this Riverwalk landmark is from E Commerce or E Crockett St. When you bring your Bidi Bidi Bom Bom up those stairs at this bridge you can say, "We Did It" just like the scene in her biographical movie staring Jennifer Lopez. You can celebrate just like in the movie under the Christmas Lights and do your best Baila Esta Cumbia from this bridge nestled between The Original Mexican Restaurant & Bar and Dick's Last Resort. So, Como La Flor, this place has to be on your Riverwalk destination list fo' sure!

My wife and I spent a good part of the day, looking at pictures and video footage from the Movie Selena trying to figure out which of the bridges bore her history and was used in the filming of the movie "Selena" staring Jennifer Lopez. As luck would have it. There is a Facebook page with map details showing not only where the bridge can be found but, how to get there too. It was also a huge help running into Yelp Elite Curt C. from San Antonio who backed up the FB directions and, gave us a bit more insight about the bridge and, a dedication plaque placed on the bridge commemorating Selena's (at the time) engagement to her future husband Chris. After walking a few blocks and after crossing several "look-a-like" bridges, we finally were able to match this bridge with the pictures and video we obtained. I snapped a few pictures from the positions depicted in the movie and, the wife and I began our search for the plaque Curt told us about. On the South East corner of the steps leading to the bridge, the wife pointed out a missing or pryed spot approximately 8 x 8 in size. The spot appeared to be where a plaque of some kind used to be but, whatever was in its places has gone missing. If it was taken by a fan, its a true loss for others and I would hope the city replaces it soon. The bridge itself sits in a very busy but beautiful spot on the Riverwalk. Close to many hotels and eateries which are also in the immediate area. If your a Selena fan or just an admirer of movie in which J-Lo plays her part. Then this is a place you should bookmark to see. Thank you Curt C. for your insight.

Named after the Tejano superstar, Selena. This pedestrian bridge crosses the San Antonio Riverwalk and is the bridge that Selena was proposed to on. It's one of the most beautiful bridges on the Riverwalk, and was featured in the movie, Selena. At Christmas time, it's covered in Christmas lights, and with all the lights draped in the cypress trees behind it, it's a picturesque place to get your Christmas card photo taken. It's a wonderful place to stand and watch the barges float by under the bridge, and try to eavesdrop on the tours that the guides are giving to the tourists. Nearby are some of San Antonio's greatest hotels, and lots of fun places to eat. This is only accessible by the Riverwalk, and cannot be accessed by the street. The bridge is not ADA compliant. You can make it with a stroller. Viva Selena!

Since we went on the Riverwalk boat tour, we learn that the bridge is Selena's Bridge. If you don't know who Selena is. Go back and watch the movie, Selena! I was so in love with her music back then. The song, "Dreaming of You" brings back so much memories after high school. Her song, "I Could Fall in Love" is just as beautiful. Selena is a San Antonio native. I'm glad I learned this. Before I knew this information, I saw so many people taking photos at the bridge. I loved how it was shaped too. 120/2019

A nice spot to stop on the river walk. Lots oh shade, slightly romantic, and cloce to food and drink options. One of those being Dick's Last Resort. I've never been to this one but I've been to a few others. Always an experience.

If you lookup Selena Riverwalk Scene on YouTube you'll be able to see why this is called Selena's Bridge. Or if you seen the movie and don't remember what part it is because it's been a while it's just always cool to know. It gets really busy here at night because people know of the bridge and stop there to take pictures. And it's not good because it's holds up tons of families trying to get through don't be one of those people.

The church itself is beautiful and provides the perfect backdrop to the images. The music that goes along with it seemed to match up and provide the right mood. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the sound system was. At 25 minutes long it was just right for hanging out in the square to check it out. But now that I know what it actually is, I've got to say it's great for a free downtown show. There's also a parking garage super close, and they've got chairs set up in front of the church, which is helpful. The light show itself is an artistic take on US and San Antonio history from a French artist using laser lights and sounds, but no words. There's also a great deal of religious Catholic symbolism. To be honest, I was lost for a good chunk of it. I wish they'd at least flashed the years they were showing--I couldn't really keep up with the timeframe showing was until they hit Frederick Douglass (I think?), and that was way deep in...but still everything was visually pleasing even if I didn't understand. Tips: 1) If you're sensitive to lights, bring sunglasses like I did to let your eyes adjust. The laser lights are super bright. 2) Check the website before you go. 3) It's not Christmas-y at all, but if you're up for a free 24-minute artsy history vibe, you might enjoy it more knowing ahead of time.

Ms. Tauch was a very well known sculptor in Texas. She was paid $1000 for her sculpture. The sculpture features a First Native American in a full headdress holding shallow bowls in each hand. If you can figure out how to get here without a car, this is a great vantage point to see San Antonio, and a great place to start off an adventure downtown. I've always wondered who built this, and Helene S.'s review was quite illuminating! So this sculpture is next to Sebastian's International Torch of Friendship, a maybe 30-40' high red sculpture that's hard to miss. Between this sculpture and that one is the famed Portland Loo- an outdoor free restroom. There's also the elevator that takes you down to the Riverwalk here. Standing on the bridge where this First Inhabitant sculpture is, this is a good spot to eavesdrop on the river cruises below, or just smell the Mexican food coming from Casa Rio. The Indian depicted in this carving must be a Yanaguana Indian chief, as they were the first Indians who were known to inhabit the San Antonio River area thousands of years ago. They covered an area a bit more up river near the University of Incarnate Word down along this river to where the Missions are today. Today, down the street at Hemisfair Park, you'll find Yanaguana Gardens, which celebrates this tribe.
