I went with the Kjottkaker, Norwegian meatballs (I am sure many of you know the Swedish/Ikea version of that Köttbullar).

Cafe Valentin is a super sweet and cozy cafe (especially when you get a dozen or so people packed…read moreinside)... the perfect kind of place for hanging out with a good friend on a dreary day. Alongside a varied drink menu (soda, coffee, smoothies), you can order Scandinavian treats, ranging from porridge and baked goods to breakfast and sandwiches. Everything served is vegetarian, and a lot of the options can be made vegan. On my first visit, I had the Smørrebrød, which was a nice snack. They also bake vegan Kanelbullar, which is reason enough to visit. On my second visit, I had the Gröt, which was made fresh and warmed me right up! This place can get pretty busy over the weekend, and even when it's not crowded, it takes a while to get the food, so don't come here in a hurry. But if you have time to leisurely enjoy a bite to eat alongside a good friend or over a good book, it's not a bad spot.

We stayed in Neukölln, and visited the cafe several times during our visit. My favorite was a yummy vegan open-face Swedish sandwich with an amazing red beet hummus, olive and mint-pea tapenades, lovely greens, tomatoes, fruit and some sort of berry relish on a rich dark bread with vegan butter. A symphony of fresh flavors dancing on my tongue. Definitely one of the best meals I had in Berlin! I finished it off with a green-tea soy latte and a slice of decadent vegan chocolate cake. I was very happy to find this little gem of a place, and will definitely return to Cafe Valentin on my next trip to Berlin.
