Kadhai paneer with daal, raita, rice, roti :)
Nandita B.

Munch India parks their food truck every Tuesday near my workplace in Emeryville. I try to go eat there whenever possible as the food is high quality, really tasty, and satisfying. On the menu you will usually find 3 types of veg entrees, and 3 types of non-veg (1 chicken, 1 fish, 1 lamb) entrees. Each entree comes with rice (veggie pulav), 1 chapati(so glad they do chapati and not naan), daal, and raita. You can also do a combo plate that allows you to try all the veg/ non veg entrees. So far I have not been disappointed by anything I have ordered. The veg entrees are usually ~11-12$ and the non veg can range from ~12-18$ (can be a bit pricy if you choose the lamb/ fish). Oh and be ready to wait for 10-15 mins for your food to be ready (so it's guaranteed to be freshly prepared). Also - the dishes can be a bit oily (my only real complaint). But overall - love it!

Chicken Masala, Kadai Paneer, Chana Masala Combo
Adam B.

An Indian food truck that serves regular old Indian food, not a Paneer Burrito or Chicken Tikka Masala Fries or anything crazy like that. The combos are great for someone who wants a little variety at lunch. Better than most brick-and-mortar Indian joints downtown, though Amber India is still king. Chicken Masala: Tasty chicken morsels in a creamy masala. Great for soaking up in roti and rice. The largest portion in the non-veg combo. Kadai Paneer: Super tasty dense cheese curds. A bit salty. A few thin tangy veggies were in the mix (peppers and onions?). About half the size as the chicken portion. Chana Masala: Standard chole, but with some nice yogurt and tamarind sauces on top. Tastes a bit like a chaat, except with just chickpeas. About half the size as the chicken portion. Dal: A bit bland, but that's what dal is. Just the right portion to hearty up some rice. Roti: Kinda small-ish. Used it up on the chicken before I finished that portion. Tasty though.

Lamb kabob extra spicy

Best food truck AND best Indian food around Emeryville (when they are here). I was treated to a juicy, tender lamb kabob, extra spicy, along with lentils, rice, yogurt, and roti...all of the ingredients were fresh, perfectly prepared, and simply the best. The customer service was beyond 5 stars. I would give this 10 stars if I could! Passionate and friendly people in this truck. They found themselves a regular right here!!!

Chicken Tangdi Kabab

Love this food truck! I like the Chicken Tangdi Kabab, Lamb Kebab and the Murgh Dahi Wala. These dishes come with rice (pulao), roti, yogurt, black dal Wait can be a little long (10-15 mins) but is absolutely worth it! Keep up with their locations on their twitter account!

veg/non-veg combo with baigan masala, channa, dal, and chicken kabob. Comes in a thali with a roti and rice. Really good.

Stumbled on this place for lunch the other day and was pleasantly surprised! I got a veg/non veg combo which came with chicken kebab, baigan (eggplant) masala, channa (garbanzo beans), dal (lentils) and some amazing rice. What I REALLY liked about this place is the fact that it was a complete meal, served on a thali-like compostable dish WITH a Roti!! there's something you don't regularly see at indian food trucks.... It felt like a home cooked meal almost as opposed to quick food. Everything tasted great and everyone at the office keep asking me repeatedly where I had gotten my food from. I had never seen this truck in the FiDi before. I think they are definitely onto something and I am officially following on twitter so I can know when they are around. My ONLY complaint is I thought it was a bit on the pricier side (~$16), but you do pay for what you get. Delicious indian food that goes beyond your standard chicken tikka masala, which everyone else is already doing. Basically if you want to feel like your at a sit down indian restaurant but with all the benefits that come from going to a food truck, you should go here. Also, they take card, unlike some of the other trucks around that will remain nameless.

Goat Biryani
Mighty M.

This is a hit food truck from our company location/building. Always gets a long line for the days it comes. Food is not cheap but one of the tastiest lunch I get every week. They used some very good spice mixes that makes you craved more. The Kabobs are rubbed generously and comes very tasty and juicy every time. The biryani is also good and on the goat curry is delicious when they offer it as a daily special. Expensive for lunch but very tasty and they use organic ingredients. If you don't buy they will still be sold out at least from our location as they always gets one of the longest lines among food trucks in our area. My coworker says that the Veggie options are also very good and very tasty.

The food here is absolutely amazing! So delicious with the right kind of spice and most importantly it tastes so "homemade"!

The original plan was to grab some lunch items at Whole Foods, but who doesn't want to try a new restaurant?! Walking into the restaurant, it's a little unclear if you order the counter and they bring you food or if you're seated and you order at the table. We quickly figured out that your order at the counter and then grab one of the tables and they will bring you your order. I found the restaurant to be unkept, and most of the tables that did not have customers sitting at them were super dirty. The tables hadn't been cleaned from the previous customer/customers. We had already ordered and it was that quick mental conversation of are we expected to clean the table so that we can dine there or what. Thankfully, a bus boy appeared, and he didn't seem overly eager to want to clean the table that we were standing at but instead wanted to clean one that someone was dining at. It was kind of odd. He took a couple of swipes at the table and it really just removed the food that someone had dropped all over the table. Just not a comforting feeling when you know that you'll be dining in that same spot. Our food came out fairly quickly, and I was super excited to have a good meal. We ordered the lunch special, which included a lentil/garbanzo, bean side, CTM ( chicken, tikka masala), rice, and naan. We ordered one mango lassi to share because we figured it was easier to try it, then order too much. You can always order more, right?! The mango lassi was very underwhelming. It locked through mango flavor, and that hint of tanginess. I just felt like I was drinking warm mango juice. I definitely have had better. With the lunch plate, we upgraded the naan to the cheese naan. I love carbs like anyone else does, but I found this to be basically bread that someone had put curry flavor in with a couple of cubes of cheese. So basically curry powdered bread. Yuck. The CTM, I found the chicken to be very sparse in terms of the portion size, and the chicken was very rubbery. It was overcooked, and I specifically had asked for little to no spice. Apparently that request was ignored. The lentil and garbanzo beans were tasty, but the garbanzo beans were undercooked, incredibly hard, and the flavor profile was really weird. It couldn't decide if it was supposed to be spicy, spicy, and salty, or something in between. The rice was OK. It had far too much fenugreek in it, and again the flavor profile, even combined with the CTM just was a little offputting. The guy behind the counter was fairly friendly, but it wasn't that warm and inviting friendliness. Is this a place I would go back to? No, not at all The one thing that I really enjoyed was the artwork on the walls.

Our total came out to around $230 including tax and tip, which felt reasonable for the amount of food we ordered. The restaurant was pretty busy during dinner, but we were seated after about a 20 minute wait, which wasn't bad at all. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered the Goat Cheese Naan, Roti Calamari, Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Game Hen, Kale Fritters, and Gosht Biryani. My favorite dish was actually the Kale Fritters, which surprised me since I usually gravitate toward meat dishes. They were perfectly crispy, and the sauce had a great balance of sweet and savory flavors. My least favorite was the Tandoori Game Hen--it had a lot of bones and was a bit difficult to eat. Overall, I really enjoyed the meal and the variety of dishes we tried.

We ordered paneer makhani, lamb chops and dal and everything was delicious. Just the right balance of flavor, tenderness to bite and the slight spicy kick. Also tried lunch service on and it' was not as busy then. Highly suggest trying their lunch specials as they were generous portions with great value. So so sssoooo yummy!
