Tonight Munch India tantalized me from afar while I played at the Emeryville Summer Concert Series with Gumbo Stew (see GumboStew.com). We played from 6-8 pm and this series pairs up with a food truck I do believe. Munch India's food was enjoyed by all the folks in the audience, and smelled so good. Munch India offered the band a free dinner, which was extremely generous. They accommodated my dietary requirements and I took my dinner home. I just now finished and my stomach is so happy. The chicken Marsala was so delish; along with the cauliflower. I'll be trying to find this truck again soon. read more

I went to Munch India's 62nd and Doyle (Emeryville) location yesterday for lunch, and while perusing their menu, I had a hard time deciding on what to choose since they all sounded so good! Eventually I chose the Coconut Shrimp Malai Curry, which was absolutely FANTASTIC! It was creamy and the slight sweetness was complemented well by the coconut flavor in the curry. The shrimp was also cooked just perfectly. The meal was definitely reasonably priced and it also came with basmati rice with peas, lentils, and a flatbread! It can't get better than that =). I got a mango lassi and mattar paneer. All entrees come with roti, rice, and daal which is great. The food was very good but the wait was long. I didn't have to wait in line to order but then had to wait about 20 minutes to actually get my food. I probably would've given 5 stars if it was speedier. read more

The truck is on California Street every Monday and Friday. It has to be the best Indian food I have tasted in San Francisco. The vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are mouth watering and very authentic. The yellow dhal is out of the world and so are their curries. I tried the peri-peri prawns last Friday and the preparation was something I had not tasted before and will wait for the next time that dish is served up. read more

This is the best lunch in downtown SF, nobody else is really that close. It's true there can be a wait, but the guy who said 45 minutes is crazy, 10 minutes would be an unusually long wait, but it happens occasionally. It also costs a little more (not even that much), but that's because it is higher quality, and you are worth it my friend. read more

I've eaten here twice. The first time was a couple of months ago and I got one of the meat and rice dishes. The food took a long time to come out and was just okay. The second time I ate here was today and I was passing by and thought I'd just grab a quick samosa to go with my salad in my office. Since they only only take credit card with $5 minimum, I decided to order two chicken samosas. I waited 20 minutes for my samosas and I could tell everyone who received their food before and after me were pretty pissed they also had a long wait. Well, I get back to my office and I got the wrong order: two veggie samosa instead of chicken and they were only lukewarm. Slow service, wrong order, subpar food = 2 stars. read more

We haven't been able to catch the food truck but we ate at the tiny restaurant and it was one of the best meals we have ever eaten! I ordered the "airline cut" of chicken braised in a scrumptious sauce and hubby ordered "shrimp cutlet" which I was afraid was going to be a shrimp cake, plus rice and an appetizer. Perfect amount of fantastic food except I had to wrestle him for some shrimp. They came whole with just the tails and were a m a z i n g! He wanted to taste my chicken and so he agreed to trade me two shrimp after the first taste. We both wanted larger stomachs so we could order more. Can't wait to return! I work in Emeryville and Munch India parks right outside our building, every other Tuesday. The man taking orders is so passionate about the food and I love asking about the dishes. Today I had the sirloin kebabs (cooked to order) and I wasn't disappointed! But the true highlight was the black eyed peas! I wanted to go back for a bucket of them! They also had a prawn special, a spicy stuffed tomato and many other items; meat and vegetarian. The only complaint is that I wish the chapati was bigger. read more

WOW. I don't have words to describe how amazing the food is from this food truck. I am not a big fan of indian food trucks as the quality of the food and service has never impressed me in the past. My wife always packs me lunch and I eat at my desk. I happened to try this because one day my tiffin was spoiled and I disliked most of the Indian restaurants around where I work (SOMA in San Francisco). I went there with a friend who had also never tried this truck before. I ordered chicken masala and he had a veggie plate. On the first bite we looked at each other as we we had tasted heaven. I didn't have to ask him how he liked the food as it was obvious from his expressions. Next week I decided to try their chicken kabob. I am generally wary of having kabob as they are seldom tender and flavorful. But this one was EXCEPTION!. It pretty much melted in my mouth and was oozing with flavor. The food truck says they try to use only organic ingredients, and I have no doubts about that. Every time I have eaten there I have felt positive and applauded my decision to eat there as I prefer not to eat out. On the other hand most other indian restaurants make me feel bloated and regret why I didn't just ate at home. Looking forward to try their lamb kebob next time! read more

Love, love, love! White-tablecloth flavors from a food truck. Everything is super flavorful and carefully crafted with both brightness and subtlety, respecting the nuance of Indian seasonings. Faves: -Best aloo gobi ever: fresh,organic, flavorful, not overcooked -Chicken koorma (and sometimes lamb) made as meatballs with a touch of (moong?) dal, steeped in spicy red sauce -Yummy potato mash made into a croquette (they call it a cutlet) with veggies, like a dosa stuffing, and perfectly fried, with a light and crispy surface Basmati "pilaf" is simple and authentic (they just started adding a few green beans), never dry or mushy. I find the chicken masala tasty, but the white meat chicken chunks tend to get dry; if they used thighs instead, I bet it would be perfect. Yes, you get some small chunks of whole spice (as reviewer Victor mentions), which is a GOOD thing -- tasty and authentic feature. The window staff is really helpful and cheerful. Love having them near home at the Fremont Street Eats on Friday evenings. My mouth and stomach are always happy after. read more

Picked up a lunch plate from them last week when they were parked in the financial district and quite disappointed. The dal (lentil), chicken curry, rice and roti (bread) were all sub-standard with no flavor. The lentils and the curry for the chicken were very watery as well. For $12, there are plenty of other options downtown for lunch so I would stay completely away getting this truck. read more

Food is awesome but they have no value of person's time. I ordered my lunch today and they replaced it with something else and when i went back to them that it's not what i ordered he said take your money back. I don't mind staying in a long queue for good food but have some courtesy to tell the customers if you are replacing their items. and on Top of that attitude of that gentleman sucks!!!!! Stopped by today to check out Munch India for the first time and it was a big disappointment. I ordered a Chicken Wrap... not only did it take twenty minutes and I was one of the first people in line, but the chicken was too salty and wrap only contained chicken, raw onions and some sort of Raita type sauce. Super lame! How about some cilantro, cucumbers, tomato (Anything!) some sort of other element to balance out the dish- totally amateur wrap. Not to mention that the wrap was not even on a naan it was some sort of paratha - thin tortilla like and super weak but maybe my mistake for assuming. Cant say that i will be giving them another try but i did see on twitter that they were giving someone who complained about the wait today a free lunch - at least they were class enough to do that. read more

I've tasted Indian food all over the world - and this really IS worthy of superlatives and as good as it gets!!! If you love Bengali food, delivered hot and with such gracious customer service......oh YEAH!!! Had some in Los Gatos at the Music Festival and again at the SJ Jazz Festival......the food is SO good - had the Chana Masala, and the lamb - Want to taste more dishes......Excellent Food, Very Classy people.......and it tastes so FRESH - MAJOR YUMMM!!!!! read more

I'm pretty much a regular at Munch India, and I can tell you if you haven't been here before you're missing out! Hands down they have the best Indian kebabs in the city, it's never dry always fresh, and bursting with flavor. Their vegetarian dishes are also to die for, everything is super fresh and tasty. Last week I ordered the Royal Dum Goat Biryani and a Mango Lassi, it was simply sublime. This place is simply awesome ! read more

We hired Munch India to come to our University to serve our students for an event. The food was good and they were nice and responsive during the event. The reason I am only giving them two stars is that we paid them at the time of the event and while they said they would email us the receipt, they haven't. We have called and emailed multiple times and still no receipt for me to give our accounting department. We have even asked for just an email confirming the purchase, but nothing. I just want to caution anyone who is thinking of hiring them for an event that while the food is good, they aren't responsive when it comes to business needs. read more

This food truck is absolutely incredible. I go to this truck when it's at 400 California St. in SF (on Mondays and Fridays) and they have something new and exciting each time. The staff is really friendly and they're visibly passionate about what they do. Although I love their food and every item that I've tried whenever I go, I'm inspired to write a review for one dish in particular that I had yesterday, the Chicken Chakri Bharwan. The cashier person described it as a chicken roulade stuffed with ground chicken and spinach, which intrigued me, so I ordered it, and I'm so glad I did. The chicken breast itself was really moist and the filling was full of flavor. The sauce that was paired with it was tomato-based and spiced perfectly, and it was tangy and delicious. I loved the presentation as well! It's amazing that a food truck can have such an upscale and creative dish that clearly had a lot of thought and care put into it. This dish just reconfirmed my love for this truck. Definitely try them out, you will not be disappointed! read more
