"Our main goal is simple, to provide you with the lowest cost car rental in the Algarve with the…read morebest service.", it says on their homepage and I can say that it is only true! I have hired some cars in my life and I have also worked in the hotel sector so I know what toexpect from car rental agencies usually. As I originally wanted to rent from Luzcar in Lagos over the 1st of May and was rejected due to floods of people who had been faster than me, I walked just down the street for 50 m close to Lagos Marina where I came about the inviting-looking car rental that had bikes and scooters for rent as well, standing in front of the garage. As I walked into the office I was immediately greeted by two ladies who both seemed very well spoken both in Portuguese and English and made no fuss. Easy car rental deluxe. Patricia offered me, right from the start, the cheapest option that would still include the "Teilkasko" insurance on the road. For a 24 hour rent, 40 Euros, which is Un-Beat-Able! For an additional 8 Euros, I went for the Vollkasko, the careful German that I am. I got a small car, filled with gasoline and she even showed me around the whole car to make sure we both agree on the little marks in the car paint. She even made sure I knew about the fact that the highways are going to be tolled, but that I would be able to get whereever I wanted to go in the Algarve on the national roads anyway. And by the way, the unlimited mileage is included! I have seriously never felt more safe when renting a car, because normally, you never know about hidden costs here and there. Here, the staff is straight to the point, well-educated and supportive. I can only wish them that they keep up this great service and I will surely come back for their services on my next vacation and tell my friends about it.

We had a fantastic experience with Locautom in Portimao. Our Rental Agent, George (not sure if I…read morespell his name correctly) explained everything clearly to us and adhered to the price and terms of the online rental reservation. He did a thorough walk-through of the rental car with us, noting a few scratches and giving us peace of mind. George was very gracious: (1) the car had over ¼ tank of gas (not quite 5/8), and he recorded ¼ tank. (2) we didn't plan to use the toll road and did not want to rent the toll transceiver; he activated it anyway at no charge. We would pay the normal fees if had to use it. We had the convenience, did not need to use it, and did not get charged anything for that protection. (3) Here is the big one: we reserved a Mini Panda, and George upgraded us to a BMW Sport -Wow! (4) On our departure date, we need to catch an 8am train to Lisbon, the LocAuto office does not open until 9am. George worked out the early drop-off for us without any issues. We were worried about not having the checkout inspection and dropping off the car unattended. We sent LocAuto pictures of where we parked the car, and they confirmed that "the car was in perfect condition." In summary - A VERY SMOOTH AND TRUSTWORTHY RENTAL EXPERIENCE. We had a wonderful time zipping through hundreds of roundabouts, on a BMW manual shift. It was like being on a Disney ride all day for five days! In California, USA, I have been driving an automatic car for a very long time, the BMW stick shift was so easy and fun to drive. It was just awesome! When we come back to the Algarve, I definitely will rent another car from Locauto, a shop I can Trust. Thank you very much, George for a memorable vacation in Algarve! Vincent Galt, California, USA.

If you're trying to decide if you should use Algarve Riders Tour, USE THEM! Algarve Riders Tour is the BEST thing we've done in Portugal so far! You come early, sign in, get a helmet and goggles. Then the super friendly guides divide you by which language you'd like directions in (Thanks for that, my Portuguese is awful!). Carlos gave us instructions in English reminding us of the rules of the road. While someone else I think was giving instructions in French. Then our guide, the one in the picture, we called him "god of the golden sun". He made sure we all knew how to start our engines, stop, etc. super patient. Our group was super small, 6 quads, 9 people. The guides were great about making sure everyone was comfortable, like to the point there was a quad who had fairly new drivers so they returned a calmer way and the rest of us carried on with the original plan. What an incredible company that can make adjustments like that so quickly. Was it hot? Yep, we went in July. But you're driving so there's always a breeze. :) Was it dirty? Yep, but we sprayed ourselves with the air compressor and heck we have a pool at the hotel. Lol. Was it scary? Yep, It was just the right amount of scary. That's what made it fun. I'd call it invigorating or adventurous more than scary. Can my kid do it? How about the old guy? Yep, to be a driver you need a drivers license. My daughter age 20 loved it. My husband, 60, (who hated the hills in Lisbon), loved the quad ride. And me a 53 year old school teacher from the states, loved it!!!! Have fun! Do it!
