She would not tell me anything about pricing and said someone had to come out, but that "there is no charge for an in-home inspection." Anyway, the guy came out and told me it was going to be $520 to unbolt the toilet, lift it up, reseal, and then bolt it back down. He was literally not even in there for 22 minutes. This tactic is designed to make you feel pressured and under the gun to just go ahead with it because now you've got someone standing in your house waiting for an answer. If the lady had told me over the phone that it was going to be over $500, I probably would've said "Thank you for your time. I'm going to call around and get some more prices." They knew that once they had someone in the house and ready to do the job, you're probably going to go forward with it because the next company might say "yeah I'll do $400 and I'll see you in three weeks" I talked to some friends later who had similar work done recently and they said "You paid how much????!!
