I eat regularly at Mulligan's or have occasionally ordered carry-out. The food and selection at Mulligan's has alway been very good and I especially love the many vegetarian choices. Unfortunately the overall experience takes away from the tasty food, especially when you have to wait so long to have your orders taken and eventually receive your food. When I ate there last night the hostess (maybe she was a junior hostess? I didn't recognize her) did not make us feel welcome and she wandered off several times with a bemused look on her face before even asking us how many people were in our party. It wasn't busy, especially considering it was 4:30 on a Saturday evening. We really should have turned around and gone somewhere else because the evening didn't get much better from there. When we were finally seated it took over 10 minutes to have our drinks ordered, 20 more minutes for the drinks to arrive, and tack on another 10 minutes before we placed our order for dinner. The waitress was very nice and cordial, especially since she was dealing with complaints from other tables. At the table behind us the patrons complained that the food was cold and she offered several solutions to them and was very nice the entire time. The waitress did not write down our order, which always makes me nervous. Why this trend started in restaurants, I'll never know. It's not charming or impressive and I would much rather feel confident that I don't have to send something back later. Surprisingly, all of our food was delivered correctly, although more than an hour after we first sat down. Our food was hot and delicious. I ordered the veggie burger with mushrooms and onions and fries and my sister ordered the filet sandwich which came with potato chips. I don't think it's the wait staff's fault that the service is consistently poor. They appear to want to make the customers happy. I can't help but think that it's the management that needs to be addressed. Overall I always enjoy the food, but the overall experience is something that needs to be endured rather than enjoyed. I'm so torn with ranking of stars for this place. I grew up and worked near here for any years before moving out of state, and have always looked forward to eating here on trips home. Today, I kind of wish we'd not come for lunch! My sister, good friend and I arrive for lunch. They weren't terribly busy, and we were seated quickly. Our server came over and took our drink order, pretty simple 2 waters and a coke. It took over 5 minutes to get our drinks. We had a pretty good idea what we wanted to order... And again, it wasn't difficult (two filet sandwiches and a roast beef au jus, two with fries and one with a salad) It took FOREVER to get our food. Seriously, it was more than 20 minutes! The worst part was that the sandwiches were cold and not cooked to order, the fries were a pile of grease and the lettuce in the salad was warm and limp. I'm just terribly disappointed in not only the experience, but the food. A bad day by the server is forgivable.... The food... Not so much. read more

I went with a party of seven to Mulligan's last night and was fairly disappointed with the experience. There isn't a waiting area, which made standing around awkward and uncomfortable, given the number of people in the restaurant. The staff was great and the atmosphere was great...but the food was so incredibly average. Three of the people in my party are vegetarian (myself included) and I was excited to try some of the meat alternatives on the menu. I ordered the "chicken breast sandwich", which was really just a frozen chicken patti made to look like a fancy sandwich. My mom got the "hot dog" which was also pretty lame and my dad got the burger which wasn't anything to write home about either. All of our plates came with a ridiculous amount of fries. Overall, I was just really unimpressed. We had a good time, but that's because of the company, not the food. Not sure how the meat dishes were, but if you're vegetarian, I would stick to the salad menu. read more

I have eaten at Mulligans countless times over the past 10-12 years and continue to be impressed with their quality of food and service as well as the quantity of the food that they prepare. I am a vegetarian and have found something different on the menu each time to eat. The chef can also make an entree with the ingredients from other dishes. I am a fan of their veggie burger as well as several of their pasta dishes. No one beats their skinny fries!!! The service is great, the beer and alcohol options are plentiful and the prices are really reasonable. This past weekend, 6 of us went to Mulligans, all ordered full en-tress and beers and the bill was 110.00. NOT BAD. read more

French onion soup is one of my biggest weaknesses. If it's on the menu I'll order it. At Mulligans they do it right. I nearly licked the bowl clean - literally I was that drunk from the awesome stiff drinks at the bar. The bar tender kept my drink full and I had no complaints. This restaurant used to be a lunch favorite of my wife and I. When we heard they re-opened under new management we were excited about some hearty good food! We went there for dinner on a Monday while the kids were at a movie. The awful smell that hit us in the foyer should have been our warning to leave. First, Mulligan's was a little pricey before...under the new management the prices are darn right out of all sense and reason. We ordered the fried mushrooms as an appetizer ($8.99). What came can only be described as gargantuan. I can only assume these mushrooms were grown near the Fukishima reactor in Japan. In this case more is not better. The mushrooms were so huge and unwieldly that there was no way for the moisture to cook out. When I cut into one you had a nice cooked and crispy mushroom on the outside. The center was raw and water pooled inside the breading. We split a single mushroom and could go no further. My wife ordered the chicken/ribs bbq combo ($19.99, yes you read that right). They were out of all vegetable sides except brussell sprouts, which my wife does not like so she was stuck with two sides of mashed potatoes and gravy. The chicken was somewhat dry but the ribs were chewy and almost inedible. She spent the rest of the meal trying to scrape the gravy off the obviously not fresh mashed potatoes. I ordered the Guinness beer battered cod ($17.99). I am not exaggerating in any way when I tell you that the $18 entree was served with a single piece of cod, just slightly larger than the Gorton's frozen cod pieces I buy in a box from the grocery store. The breading was nice and crispy, unfortunately the fish did not taste fresh and like the mushrooms was sitting in a pool of water making the bottom half of the cod a soggy disgusting mess. The brussell sprouts that came with it were a ramekin of what could best be described as shredded brussell sprouts. There wasn't a whole one in there anywhere...just a slaw like concoction of sprouts, burned garlic, and salt. It was inedible. Of the whole meal there were only 2 appetizing items. The first was the coleslaw, which I doubt was made there. The second was the bread stick that came with the slaw which again, was probably bought frozen and reheated (which is a good thing in this case.) In short, this was the worst dining experience I can think of in the past 20 years. We had two entrees, an appetizer, and two drinks. Our bill was $80, and of course I left a 20% tip on top of that because it wasn't the waitresses fault the food was horrible. We took all the food with us that we couldn't eat out of embarrassment for the waitress. They went in the trash as soon as we got home. If I had to guess, the new owners started out with good food and good intentions, and now are just cutting corners in desperation of the impending second closure of this restaurant. Avoid this place like the plague. My kids got hot dogs and popcorn at the movie that night, and I would gladly have taken that dinner over the one I paid $96 for and immediately regretted. read more

Went here on a Thursday night. It was busy when we arrived and our server appeared to have too many tables to handle them all. Everything took a really long time. One person in my party had their order come out wrong (wrong steak and wrong sides). When she told the server that she hadn't ordered rice, the server suggested that they could "scrape it off the plate." Really appetizing. I ordered the chicken breasts and they were good but nothing special. Everyone else seemed unimpressed by their food, saying that the potatoes and rice were hard. Ah, Mulligans. This is where my family goes to do our small celebrations. You know, Father's Day, I want a HUGE slab of meat to gorge on for hours, kinda event. What I love! ~ It's predictable, good food. I'm a huge fan of red meat and I know that if I order a filet or the prime rib it will be awesome. ~ It's cozy & unpretentious. ~ Old Irish Pub feel if you're in the main bar, but I'm at my great Aunt Millie's feel (who also happens to life in England) when you're in the library or dining/event rooms. What I don't like! ~ Service can be questionable or take forever, but hey, when I'm with my family, it's good to gab more, right? ~ OMG, the average age of a patron is probably mid-fifties. Mulligans has been a favorite for many years, and I was sad to read that they had closed, but then was very happy to see that someone had purchased the restaurant and were keeping its original menu. I have been back a few times, as an out-of-towner. I went with a friend this past Sat. eve. We arrived at around 8pm, and were seated immediately. There were maybe 1/2 dozen other tables with diners seated. I ordered an appetizer - the Reuben wonton wraps (not the official name but you get the idea), and we ordered soft drinks, while we browsed the menu for dinner selections. The appetizer and bevvies were delivered in a very timely fashion (I know, with 6 other tables, right?) and the appetizer was delicious. For our meals, my friend ordered the chicken/rib combo and I ordered the soup and salad. Salads were brought first - crisp, nice size - and breadsticks similar to the ones offered by a corporate Italian restaurant chain, but the seasoning was better...no heavy garlic flavor. My soup and my friend's entree arrived just a moment after we finished our salads...again, great timing. My soup was the stuffed pepper soup, and it was savory and delicious. My friend's ribs and chicken were excellent - with the same delicious BBQ sauce we have enjoyed over many years. Glad that hasn't changed! Our server was very good - attentive but not overbearing, the food was great, and the atmosphere, while familiar and comfortable- I would have loved to have been surrounded by a few more people. My only criticism was with the prices. I thought the full slab / half slab rib prices were a bit high. The ribs are delicious and meaty, but at 18.00 for a half slab and 21.00 for a full slab, I felt a lower price might bring in a few more people. I'm basing this on other restaurants that serve ribs. The price break I understand- for 3 more dollars just get the whole rack and twice the amount of ribs. But for someone looking for a smaller portion - 18.00 is a lot to spend. A 14.00/18.00 price break would seem like a good deal at a place known for award-winning ribs. Maybe it would bring more people in the door. I love this place and would love to see it booming again on a Saturday night..summer or not! read more

Don't bother! We sat for 40 minutes waiting for our lunch and it never came. When we got up to leave our waitress (who never came back to our table after bring us two glasses of water) approached us saying our ticket never made it to the kitchen. When I spoke to the manager he said " we have a problem the cook just walked out the door and i'm trying to fix it". No apology, nothing! This is the second (and last!) time I have attempted to have lunch there and just sat at a table with guests with no service. The few positive reviews they have received are a farce based on others I have talked to since this incident. They are sorely in need of new management and a head chef walking out in the middle of New Years weekend is a good indication that this family run restaurant has deteriorated beyond repair. read more

Several things wrong: 1) I asked for Bourbon neat: first one was basically water and ice and a yellow tint; second try was up neat but still off color and weak; a third try was the right golden brown color, was stronger but not the right brand. 2) I ordered a filet (house specialty) medium well with salad and broccoli. Salad was good, and I liked the mix of greens and Italian dressing. The steak and broccoli was dismal. The steak looked like something from Omaha Steaks and cooked by Boy Scouts. It wasn't warm nor was it evenly cooked. Nor was it seasoned! The bacon wrapping it didn't even taste like bacon!! In fact the steak was dry, because it had rested too long! The broccoli was cold and not cooked so it paired well with the steak. 3) Service was lacking as our glasses were refilled only once. And other drinks were late coming to the table and at least one more was served wrong. They were busy in the place, but still there should be standards for service. I can't recommend the place based on my meal, as the others at my table seemed to enjoy their meals. (Though one didn't receive his meal until about 10 minutes after everyone else.). The place was busy, maybe a testament to local people liking it and/or used to the service and food. But I know it is not on my list to return any time soon. read more

We have always enjoyed going to Mulligans- we love to support local places and the food has always been good. We recently went and overall the experience was good. About a week later I checked my bank account and my charge was $40 over. I called and talked to a female manager/owner (Joycelynn or something like that). She was rude... never apologized. It took over a week of me having to call in and Check to see if she had found the discrepancy. Finally it was found and the server decided to give herself a $50 tip!!! They reimbursed me my $50 and made a ton of excuses of how it happened. We will never be back... there are too many other local good places to support where management staff actual want to make it right for the customer. read more

I will never come to this restaurant again. The new ownership is refusing to follow COVID-19 guidelines that are mandated by the state. The owner also owns a nursing home -- he is around the most vulnerable population and doesn't think it is necessary to require employees to wear masks? The owner was working behind the bar, serving food, and greeting guests without a mask. The restaurant was empty, yet they were still seating guests next to each other. The restaurant was also hosting a party with more than 10 guests in the back room. The owner's social media is full of posts about the "scamdemic". I will absolutely never recommend this place to anyone ever again. If they cannot follow guidelines out in the open, I cannot help but wonder what other health mandates they are ignoring. read more

We've always had great meals here! We have a few go-tos: the buffalo spring rolls, and the lobster mac and cheese. If you love buffalo chicken, you will love the spring rolls. They are spicy, crispy, and the bleu cheese dressing is delicious with them. My husband always gets lobster mac and cheese, and each time it tastes fresh and homemade; nothing packaged at all. I usually stick with the teriyaki chicken with mashed potatoes and a caesar side salad. I like the chicken, but I always love the salad. I'm a sucker for good bread sticks! Don't be surprised by the location in the middle of Belden Village - I'd head here before any chain restaurant. read more

This is quite possibly one of my favorite places to eat in the Canton area. They have the best vegetarian selection out of any other competing restaurants. Even though they are locally owned, they offer a fantastic, professional atmosphere. My favorite things to eat here are the veggie burger and the veggie Reuben! Delicious! I was on business in Canton and heading out to dinner with a coworker elsewhere when we passed Mulligan's and we made a quick change of plans. It doesn't seem like it from the outside, but the place is huge. It was a Thursday night and they were packed, but we were seated immediately. I had the Filet Mignon steak sandwich, and I was really pleased with it. They cook a thin filet mignon to order and serve it on a bun whole, not sliced! I've had really tender filet before, I couldn't believe it was so tender that I could bite right through the filet like butter. My dinner mate got the fish and chips - and it was an enormous portion and very tasty. I'll come back here again, next time I am in Canton. read more

Mulligans is one of my favorite restaurants in Canton. The interior is very interesting. There are multiple dinning areas. The main room is basically a pub. They also have a library room which happens to be my favorite. I am not sure if this is open all of the time b/c I think they use it for private parties alot. The entire restaurant is decorated with relics slavaged from old mansions and the front of the menu describes most of them and where they came from. The food is very good. I epsecially like the ribs and steaks. Also, the best dessert item, in my opinion, is the snickerbar ice cream pie...which is huge and gooey and delicious. I always make sure to stop by every time I am in Canton. read more

This used to be a favorite. We made reservations and arrived on time. They put us in the library which is a really neat room. We got our drinks and ordered our food. Next thing we know, about 15 eight year olds show up with about a handful of parents. I could see where this was headed and asked that we get another table. We headed to our new table to enjoy our peace and quiet. Our food arrived. Two of my daughters ordered a salad with grilled salmon. The salmon piece on one was raw in the middle. We sent it back and it came back cooked more but still raw in the middle. They took it off our order. I ordered a king cut prime rib. I asked for rare to medium rare. It showed up looking medium. It was also a piece the end. Out of 32 ounces about half was fat, and silver skin. The server Briana did a phenomenal job, but I expected more in the way of the food. They also pared down the menu and got rid of a ton of favorites. That being said, whatever they offer should be great. In our case it was not so. Ordered Brussels sprouts for our sides, it was cold not only that it was loaded with garlic salt that we couldn't even eat it. Got the battered beer onion for appetizer and the batter wasn't even crispy. It too was cold and the batter was soggy from the oil. The drink we ordered which was absolute and soda was more soda than absolute. We've been here before when they had the previous owner and the food was really good. New owner sucks. The food sucks. We visit Canton once or twice each year and always look forward to a meal at Mulligan's. Food, service and atmosphere are great. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Though it's in a strip mall the interior transports you to an authentic Irish pub. Design is nicely lit with dark carved wood, stained glass, cozy booths, yet the tables were comfortable enough for our party of 6. We had steak, hamburger, salads, philly and daily potato soup. Had a bad experience when we went. You can tell it is under new ownership. Quite unprofessional to say the least. When we arrived we were seated quickly. Waitress came over and gave us the menu's and took our drink orders, just ice tea. Then didn't come back to take our order for 15mins and to give us our tea's. We ordered two bar drinks and ordered steak dinners. Anouther 15mins goes by and we still didn't get our bar drinks, which I thought was odd because someone was standing behind the bar and serving thier own staff in uniform beer as they watched tv. Server comes to our table, still no bar drinks, and says that they don't have any steaks. So we asked if we could have two smaller steaks(that added up to less ounces) in exchange and they checked, no go. We ordered prime rib, the special. So we asked about our bar drinks again as our tea was empty now as well and nothing for 10more mins. So we asked if there was a manager we could talk to and she came over. We said we have been here 5mins shy of an hour and have gotten 1tea for each of us, no refills and no bar drinks as your staff drinks beer and watches tv. She apologized and said we didn't have to pay for our dinners. Magically our bar drinks arrived as we stood up to leave. Maybe they can get their act together, if you get good service right away then you might luck out, if not I suggest somewhere else to dine read more

So glad that Mulligan's is open again! I have lived in Austin, TX for the past 13 years. I was sad when I heard of their closing because I have so many wonderful memories of great times there. During my last visit I made it my priority to have lunch there under the new ownership. I was not disappointed. I heard the menu was scaled back, but it really isn't that much. The selection is still excellent and you're sure to find one of your favorites on the menu. My favorite: cheese sticks and angel hair pasta with alfredo sauce. In fact, I found myself there a second time that week. The food is excellent, the service is great. I love walking through those doors because I know I'm home, back in Canton. The new owner is dedicated to a standard of excellence which extends not only to the food and customer service but to their staff. She cares and has a passion for what she is doing to keep Mulligan's the unique local restaurant it has always been: a great place for friends and families to enjoy and make memories. You can't find Mulligan's anywhere but Canton, Ohio! If you are visiting Canton and looking for local experience, Mulligan's is a must stop. read more
