Just had one of the worst experiences at Mulligans Restaurant & Pub, Belden village location in Canton Oh. We made reservations for What was supposed to be a lovely Mothers day dinner with a party of 14. Instead, I'm leaving so disappointed !! Two major things I'd like to point out in the many of events for today are: 1. We all order our food. Two people in our party ordered flat iron steaks. About 7-10 mins before everyone's food arrive... We are told by our server that they've RAN OUT of steaks. We asked to speak to a manager (Joanna Swallen) in regards to this . Joanna then sends the server back to our table stating "there was Nothing she could do about it. We then ask our server to please ask the manager to come out and speak to us herself ( as ANY manager should do when a customer is dissatisfied and asking for them) Joanna finally comes to our table. We tell Joanna we were not notified about the steaks running out & everyone else's food is about to come out. We asked Is there anything else we could be accommodated for ? Like a another type of steak at a cheaper rate per say ?? Dessert? Anything ? Joanna replied RUDELY " well I dont order my steaks at that price " with her hands placed behind her hips (that she blamed on a back injury) and did not one time try to accommodate the party for THEIR lack of inventory. 2. A wire.. Yes, A freaking wire of some sort was found in my one of the childrens french fries.. A FREAKING WIRE ! We immediately grab whomever was close by to get the owner/manager. At this point, the owners husband (unknown name) was in the area & proceeded to ignore our request as he broke down tables. The server we asked to grab a manager, notified us IN FRONT of the husband that he has told him we needed to speak to a manager. A member from our party had to physically leave our table to hunt down a manager & advised him of their that was foundin the french fries. This was just unacceptable ! Thank God our bills were adjusted properly after everything we went through on today. It would've been nice for the owners/management team to come to our table and apologize. Had I looked at some of the reviews prior to going .. I would've suggested my family made reservations elsewhere . The management lacks customer service skills, the food was not good, and our food took forever to come out. I sent my food back as it arrived cold, the salmon specifically. * our server was amazing, and apologized for the events many of times. First thing first NOT ONE OF THE EMPLOYEE IS WEARING A MASK NOT ONE. Second the food is nasty. The bison is not really bison its beef and only come with pickles and ketchup. Had dinner with 2 friends on St. Patty's day. Arrived about 4:00 PM. Got seated right away and the atmosphere was great. Ordered a couple of appetizers from the happy hour menu that was on the table, which was good. Also ordered wine and the special, shepherd's pie, which was mediocre. When we got our check about 6:00 PM, we questioned the waitress that we were being charged full prices for the happy hour appetizers and our wine. We were told that the happy hour menu shouldn't have been on our table and we had to pay full price because of St Patty's. Day. She checked with the manager and our check was then adjusted by $1. We didn't ask for anything other than to have the check adjusted to the correct amounts. Extremely disappointed. Bad bad customer service. read more

Stopped in for lunch after a business meeting. Decided to treat myself to steak Absolutely no regrets. Perfect medium rare cook and beautiful grill marks! They said they would fix it and not charge me. Never got the fries and brought a bill with the full price. I said I would not pay full price, they counter with 50% off, I will not return there. I visited with my family and I have to say I really love this place. The food was amazing. I ordered a medium-rare porterhouse that was cooked perfectly and the rest of the meal was just as good. My wife and kids commented their food was excellent, also. I like the decor and the atmosphere. The server was attentive, but not overbearing. We will return again, soon. read more

Our food was good. However, not one employee was wearing any type of mask or face covering. We were greeted, escorted to our seat, the waitress and bar tenders and bus boys were all not wearing masks the entire time. When there is a state mandate it is sad when a business doesn't follow the rules. We will not be back any time soon. read more

I have to give Mulligans five stars for a several reasons. First, the atmosphere. You walk in and it is exactly what you want a 'Pub' to be. The décor is awesome. The service... Neither my wife nor I have ever had less than great service even when the place is packed. Food... every meal (and there have been several) have been great! I personally love the Rueben for lunch, wow what great taste! The selection of locals is great too. Mulligans obviously supports entrepreneurs around the area. So I have been reading a lot of the reviews. I will say one thing first off. The wait staff is a little slow. But what's your hurry? Go sit at the bar if you want in and out quickly! It's a meal that you really want to take your time here. It's a beautiful place inside. Rustic wood fixtures, cozy booths and I love the padded bar stools. Now their happy hour menu is quite small. We skipped that. We weren't very hungry so I just had the French onion soup. Is was full of caramelized onions and a not to sweet/salty broth. Lots of gooey cheese on top. Mozzarella sticks and the mussels. It was all very good. There are a lot of mussels too. It is a tad pricey IMO depending on what you get. It was a Thursday around 6:00pm and the place was pretty full. You can talk without have to strain to hear someone. The wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I will say that I just don't understand why people post a review only when the have a bad experience when they've been going for a while. Again I always try to review the first time and will try and give the place a second chance if it doesn't go well and reevaluate my review. Just know, that the wait staff is slow. But why not spend the time actually conversing with the people you're with instead of try to get the heck out. That's what fast food joints are for. read more

I actually thought this place was pretty decent, given the rest of the reviews. However, be prepared to eat a lot! The portions are massive. We started with the fried mushrooms and French onion soup. I initially thought the fried mushrooms would be the mushroom caps, the small ones that you usually get at restaurants. Wrong. These were full size mushrooms! The beer batter was great, but I couldn't eat a lot of them. I sort of wish they had been a smaller size. The French onion soup was pretty tasty, but it needed a little bit more salt. It wasn't the best French onion soup, but it was decent. We were also given salads with our meals. I ordered the tuna steak with seasoning on it for my entree (not that I had any room for any more food at this point) and the seasoning was really intense but incredible! My dad and my brother both got steaks and loved their steaks. We couldn't put down any dessert but got the Snickers pie to go. It was alright. Not the best, but not awful either. The service was what bumped this up to four stars for me. It was really friendly and great. Our server was good about filling up our drinks and giving recommendations the whole way through. The decor here is really dark and it's all wooden inside, so it looks like a fun place to go to to just hang out. If you're into beer, they also have a very extensive beer menu. read more

Time for another update.. it was such a relaxing atmosphere in the back room tonight after a hard day of powerwashing my deck and staining it. Our meals tonight were perfect! Service spectacular! Wow! The people leaving reviews on here about poor management are absolutely correct! We had a minor issue that the owner refused to listen to. She actually argued on and on and yelled and caused a scene about nothing. I have never experienced anything like it before. It was beyond bizarre. I was giving her the benefit of the doubt thinking she was just stressed. But after reading all of these reviews, I see it is just her attitude. We will never return or recommend this establishment. Not only that, the food was horrible. I took two bItes and left, which was the first time I ever did that. I went to Mulligan's for dinner my first night in town on work... and then again the second night. The first night I had the Reuben, which I feel is all that I eat when I travel for some reason. I should probably cut back on those. I digress. The waitress that night said the Reuben was "slammin" so obviously I was going to get it. She was right, it was slammin'. The selling point on any Reuben for me is the bread. I do not want my mouth cut open from hard Rye bread. Mulligan's delivered on the bread and the Reuben was done very well. The second night I went with the brisket and the BBQ chicken. I wish I would have not gotten this meal because it was WAY to much food. I couldn't finish 1/2 of it. I also wish I would have opted not to get the chicken (the bar tender told me not too) but I wanted to sample it all. Overall the food was great and the staff was even better. Both nights the bartenders who waited on me were very friendly and I had a great time. I'm not saying the guy the second night gave me a free beer because we're both Dallas Cowboy fans... but I'm not saying it didn't happen. I'd recommend this place to anyone! read more

Mulligan's is a great, great place to go with a group of close friends who have the shared intent of eating decent quasi-Irish cuisine, consuming large amounts of beer, and laughing/talking for hours. I'm a fan of whatever salad it is that they have that features both grilled chicken and French fries atop the lettuce - sounds a bit weird, but it's good stuff. I definitely sense that "Cheers" vibe referenced by Jen M., but it actually ends up feeling like a halfway classy place, what with its polished wood interior, many windows, decent lighting, and the like. Mulligan's Pub is a Canton institution, and in the last few years of its original ownership, most aspects had declined in quality. Suddenly and without much notification, the restaurant closed; shortly after that the public learned the owners were elderly and ill and just couldn't carry on. A new owner stepped up quite quickly, purchased the place, and promised to bring it back to its former glory. Sadly, that was not my experience last week when I went with a group of my friends from church. We all ordered something different, and most of us had a complaint. The lobster bisque, although tasty, was extremely thick and hard to get down. It was also a bit over sweet. My steak and my friend's salmon were really overcooked. I have an esophageal hernia and a tightening of the muscular ring at the bottom of the esophagus, so I have to have food that's easy to swallow. I always order a steak, when I venture to get one, at least medium rare because the meat is more tender then. My steak was at least medium, bordering on medium well, and it was under seasoned. My friend said her salmon was so overdone on the ends that she could hardly chew it, although she said it was better in the middle. But her piece, the Cajun salmon, was over seasoned. Another friend ordered the lobster ravioli and said she'd had frozen ones from the grocery that we're better. She said there wasn't nearly enough lobster in each piece, and it was served in a very thick, pasty sauce that was probably just lobster bisque ladled over top of it. The amount of the sauce was overwhelming. What made all of this even worse was the fact that none of it was cheap. I paid $32 for an 18 oz steak that was well over done. My friend paid $20 for six or seven lobster ravioli that were subpar, and my other friend paid $20 for a piece of salmon jerky. They also initially forgot her side dish. The only thing I had that was as great as it was before were the fried mushrooms, which I will return for again. We were on a time crunch and didn't feel like we had time to complain and send back and wait for them to re-prepare a new dish, so we chose to eat what we had, and as eager as I was to give a great review and direct more customers back to Mulligan's, it was very disappointing. read more

My family and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday with reservations for 5. It didn't take long for them to seat us however it took atleast 20 mins for us to be greeted by a server. Since it took so long to get greeted by a server we already had our drink and food order ready. It took another 20 mins after that to get our salads and another 45 mins to get our food. The food was terrible! The pasta was soaked in oil and parts were crunchy. The chips were burnt. We were told that they were out of the baked potatoes at the time the food was delivered. After revisiting this restaurant years after it has been under new ownership it's still the same good food. I sat at the bar as the owner was the bartender. She seems like a really good hearted down to earth individual. She treats her employees with respect and has cleaned up the kitchen. Apparently it was neglected and really dirty. My husband and I dined here recently on a Saturday evening. I didn't notice until after we were seated and had our drinks that not one employee was wearing a mask. I heard our server tell a couple in the next booth the owner doesn't believe in them and Can give you many reasons why. Decor inside as Irish pub is best thing about our visit. On a Wednesday at 5pm, day before St Patrick's, Took 15 minutes to get our beers, and water. Then at end didn't take payment, had to go to bar to pay. Had large party (20) in back and forgot us. Beef stew was tan color, not appetizing. Reuben's ok, meat a little tough. The chips were good, and fries good. Used to love this place pre-pandemic. In their defense, service slow most everywhere now. My husband's family booked this restaurant for Thanksgiving. In keeping this short, I will say we were packed in like a can of sardines, and the food was almost inedible. The Turkey was moist, but flavorless, the stuffing didn't actually resemble stuffing in look taste or texture. More of a greenish brown bread blob, the mashed potatoes were meh. The gravy tasted like the jar of gravy you can buy at the store. I hate to say it but even the coffee was bad. Absolutely burnt. However, I was able to mask it with obscene amounts of cream and sweetener. The sweet potatoes were good, and the pumpkin pie was good. Took the left overs home for the dogs... going home to make a dinner. Have never been to a regular service here but based on todays performance I will most likely not return nor recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

I was in Canton Ohio for a visit. I wanted to go to a bar and eat dinner and watch the football game. I sat at I high top table next to the bar. In the 10 minutes 3 servers walked past me along with a blond haired bar tender. At the 12 minute make I decided to walk out. I went to the bar and asked the blond if the manager was in? She stared at me and asked me what I wanted? Again she said what do I want? I finally asked her if she was the manager and she said yes. I told her I had been setting there for 12 minutes and several employees walked past me and never offer assistance . If you would have seen the look on her face you would completely understand why the term dumb blond was created. She offered no comment when I said I was leaving. Mulligans went out of business last year and a new owner took it over. Based on my experience they won't be in business very long. We use to come to this restaurant a lot in the earlier times, but we will never come back again. The food was really bad, except the steak sandwich. Never got our ranch dressing for the onion rings which were soaked in oil- dripping. And my Cosmo was nothing but water and no alcohol. Salad was old. Garlic butter noodles had no garlic just butter. A solid Canton, Ohio staple. I was still full from lunch, so I had the french onion soup as my meal. It was just as I remembered it- flavorful and covered in gryuere. The warm wood decor is welcoming and inviting. Service is pretty good. Beers are cold and served in frosted mugs. My dad remembers coming here when they first opened in the early 1980s. They don't operate under Covid rules, staff does not wear masks, menus are reused, did not see them wipe down, condiment bottles are shared and the food was below par from what read before. Waitress did not even make an attempt to distance, we put our masks on, washed hands after menus were used.
