This place is so nostalgic. They've been opened for a long time so they are doing it right. My parents used to own a farm from 2003-2016 in Russellville and we used to eat here a lot. It's the best buffet in the city and probably one of the best I ever had in the United States. The dishes are so delicious and there is so much variety. We were back in town for my aunt's funeral and had lunch there on our way out. There are so many ways they cooked up the chicken: teriyaki, breaded, stir fried, skewered, etc. They also had frog legs, sushi, a lot of fresh fruits and so much more. The service is impeccable and our server Lorena went above and beyond! She even asked to take a picture for us and had to kneel all the way down to capture everyone. We were a party of 8 and got a special room close to the bathroom. After we got our drink orders in, we went to the buffet and ate until our bellies burst. I had 2 plates plus a wonton soup. I also made a variety sushi and a fried appetizer for us to share in the middle. My favorite dishes were the mushrooms and the fish! Everything was hot, delicious and replenished quickly. If there was a mess, they wiped it clean right away. The place was very clean. The bathrooms were also very clean! The restaurant was very busy by the time we left! It's a popular spot! Sure you can get it to go, but you're just getting food off the buffet at a higher price. So you might as well just eat the buffet. We are from So Cal where we have tons of amazing, diverse food options (literally surrounded by Asian food varieties), however, my husband and I were shocked by how amazing Mulan's was. I think this was the best Chinese buffet of my life?! Usually a few things here and there are good at buffets like these, but every single dish was fantastic. The sushi rolls were a nice bonus too. This is a nice buffet with lots of options. I'm a chicken fan and can usually locate 4-5 types of chicken at a Chinese restaurant. Not here, I found 9-10 different kinds! Everything was so good and people were friendly. Although I didn't save enough room for desert, they also have a freezer full of different ice cream varieties. Definitely recommend if looking for a good Chinese buffet in the area. read more

This was a very good common yet simple buffet. Nothing super special as far as serving stations. The sushi is pretty basic, and besides that it's just a buffet. But the food offerings were very well done, delicious, and had some unique offerings. Crab cakes, stuffed chicken and shrimp, and frog legs come to mind. Also despite us coming in after 9 at night, the food was really fresh tasting. The chicken I had was really juicy and things like the green beans were pretty close to perfect being done yet crisp. Definitely in the top two worst Chinese restaurants that I've eaten at. I was shocked at how bad it was considering how many great ratings there was for it. I'm not just being picky. It was nasty. Only thing that was good was the white rice. If you're staying in a hotel right next to it do not be tempted by it's convenience. It is bad. Not impressed; my husband says it's the worst Chinese food he's ever had. I love basic Chinese food (Panda Express in general) and I have to admit, I barely picked at our order from Mulan's. We ordered the shrimp lo mein, shrimp fried rice, orange chicken, pork & veggies, egg rolls, and Dragon & Phoenix. It was just so bland and everything tasted the same. We were very disappointed, considering the great reviews this place has on here. Would not return While staying in the area for a job we stopped in this place because it was recommended. There's a sign over the food that says you'll be charged extra for wasting food. I couldn't imagine what they meant but after two plates of buffet offerings being only 10% edible I realized what they were talking about. We had to ask them to refill the rice container, the rice!!! We stopped here on our way home to Mississippi from NWA. We just left and I have to say it was probably the best Chinese buffet I have ever eaten. My husband agrees. So much to choose from and the food was hot and fresh. Our waitress was nice and all the waiters/waitresses kept busy. I wished I lived close by to be able to eat here more often. Compared on other Chinese buffets, Mulan's is on par with the field. The food is decent... like buffet decent. There were some questionable looking items, but there is enough variety that you can piece together a solid meal. The staff was very attentive and efficient in moving people in & out of the establishment. In buffet terms, it felt clean except for some stained bowls from sweet & sour sauce. And the price was great... like $12 for dinner and drink. I can't give it 5 stars because I've had better, but it's easy to see why this was rated #1 in Russellville. This is our go to and favorite Chinese buffet in the area, and honestly anywhere I have been. It is consistent and ready to go. They are always quick to seat and get your drink order which is always at the table when you return with your first plate. The weekend and evening prices are a tad higher but not by a whole lot. (a couple of bucks?) And they always put some premium, night/weekend items on the buffet to compensate. I book the motel two doors down just to go here. The great stuff includes the best hot and sour soup I have ever had (and I have eaten at great Chinese restaurants all over the world). Lots of shrimp in many forms and all cooked well. A nice variety of dishes. Lovely people. Could use more Chinese desserts like egg custard cups, but a great meal.
