This Asian cuisine eatery is open late and accommodated a family of 5. It's a big restaurant and there parking in the back or on the street. The menu is expansive and we all ordered different things to eat and share. I ordered the drunken noodles with beef and it was spicy AF, which is great because we wanted a good kick and I underestimated it lol Only major surprise is that our dinner bill had a service fee of 20% tagged to it and it was separate from the tip. I asked about it but it sounds like it's a common thing that the restaurants in that area are doing :( We had lots of food for leftovers because the portions here are huge and it turned out tasty to eat the next day. I just wish we didn't have to cover a 20% service fee as it is noted in other reviews too.

    Pork Intestine with Scallion

Okay so hear me out before you judge..... My colleague and I ordered from this establishment today for lunch... I actually ordered side lo mein with chicken (I did not take a photo, my bad!) My colleague ordered the pork intestines with scallions- she never told me what it was but asked me to try some... (personally, I thought it was imitation lobster or a seafood) so I gave it a try and found it to be chewy but tasty (again, I never knew this was pork intestine, is this the same thing as chitterlings, but Thai? Correct me if I'm wrong because I've never had chitterlings) I can't say whether or not I will try Thai pork intestines again in life but she (Asian descent) loves their pork intestines meals (I just learned they have several dishes!) The side noodles with chicken were plentiful.....however, the lo mein didn't need the chicken (which was an up charge). I would definitely try them again with other menu items... since she is a lover of pig intestines, I will post her meals for those who like Thai flavored pork intestines.... I do plan to try their sushi so stay tuned for that review.....

delicious food, i got so full i couldn't finish it all! we ordered some cream cheese wontons and they were the best i've ever had and i'm not normally a wonton person! the pancake just tasted like a flat and flakey croissant, it's a nice texture. everything else was pretty good! service was great and attentive our waiter gave great sushi recommendations. and the ambiance with the plants, decor and music made it so casually cozy. i ordered the house lo mein which had chicken shrimp and beef. the beef and chicken were both chewy so i'll probably just get the shrimp next time

I hate that I have to write this because I eat at Mulan regularly, but this is not okay. I ordered my usual to go on Ubereats just now, and while eating, I saw something weird floating in my food and fished it out. I'm disgusted.

I haven't had the best of luck with Chinese food in Memphis so I did everything I could to suppress this unwanted craving, however, I just couldn't help myself. Little Petals pops up on Yelp as a possibility. I read the reviews and scrolled through the pictures. After looking at the location, I realized it was only an 8-minute drive from where we were. Why not, right? The restaurant is easy to miss. It sits right on the corner in an old shanty building nestled in the middle of downtown Memphis. The furniture and décor were of a standard Chinese eatery, nothing special; but the employees were warm and welcoming, greeting me with hellos and smiles. I got the black pepper chicken that came with a spring roll. I ordered an extra side of pork egg rolls because that's usually my go to. Everything was fantastic! It gives you the taste of that old school Chinese food you used to have as a kid, but better quality. The chicken was moist, flavorful and peppery. The egg rolls had the perfect amount of crispy crunch---they seemed handmade as well! Pricing is a little higher from when I was a kid, but you still won't break the bank here! As I started to think that great Chinese food was not an option for Memphis, Little Petals showed up at the right time and made me a believer!

So, Little Petals, i.e., Petals of a Peony, Jr.: no one was inside. I assume this to be per usual for 2:30pm on a Tuesday. It follows then, that the service was, um, efficient and bespoke. Ordered the pork eggrolls (very good, the sauce that came with it - oddly the perfect amount was given in a little rectangular container - made these delectable) and the General Peony's Chicken. And this was damned good. Pricey for lunch, but I could have made 2 or 3 meals off of it. A satisfying amount of heat from the szcheuan (sp?) peppers; not overly breaded so as to make it a fried dough dish, but rather to carry the sauce on the chicken; the chicken was a quality cut, nicely sized per bite. A new go-to for lunch downtown.

You know when you try a dish at a restaurant and from that point on, you judge every version of it against the best one you've ever had? Their spicy crispy tofu did exactly that. What's disheartening is that it's in Memphis, Tennessee and I live in Illinois. How am I supposed to convince my boyfriend to drive 16 hours round trip just for tofu?! Everything else was extremely well executed. Even the jasmine tea was excellent. We actually ended up leaving the city late the next day just so we could go back for lunch. It's that good. If your spice tolerance is low, definitely let them know this dish is spicy, as it should be! One recommendation: if you order the wood ear salad, get the cucumber salad as well and eat them together to balance your palate it's a total game changer. I am sure the staff had their hands full. Our server Daniel (name on ticket) was a complicated hot mess. He started out saying that we should have gone to Lao S.C., that it was better food? Never saw that coming. He said he used to work there too - which I wondered why he quit such a new establishment after such a short run? Then it hit me: I began by saying that we generally get the same things (mapo tofu or the cumin lamb - excellent choices), and I wanted to try something different? I was interested in the spicy whole grilled fish in pot! He told me that I wanted the fried chicken sautéed in peppers... his favorite. I said no, I really wanted to try the whole fish. He continues insisting I wanted the chicken dish? 3 more times... and I began suspecting maybe something was amiss, perhaps freshness issue with the fish - I relented and went with the chicken which ultimately was disappointing. Hard cooked chicken scraps edging on burnt tossed not in a sauce but in handfuls of dried peppers. Dry-fried. Very uneventful, hard and dull. Wife went with the shrimp in milk sauce which was extraordinarily delicious. Plump and savory jumbo shrimp in a creamy almost walnut sauce. We ordered a pear Sake from Oregon (which he told us was from Japan), and the spicy dumplings as an appetizer. The dumplings were tender and homemade which we liked but were not overwhelmed with. The Sake was light with a hint of asian pear went well with dinner. Still wishing I was more demanding on the whole fish (or) took his former recommendation and went to the other place?
