Muddy Buck Coffee was exactly what I needed on a morning when I wanted to sit somewhere cozy, sink into a couch, and pretend I was being productive. I was craving a homey coffee shop moment, something cabin-esque where you can relax without feeling rushed. Muddy Buck delivered. Comfy couches, warm wood vibes, and the kind of atmosphere that immediately makes you feel welcome. I did forget the book I meant to read, but that worked out because I ended up having a really lovely morning playing games with a friend instead. The coffee was solid, and the pastries were warm, soft, and pillowy. But the sleeper hit here is the Muddy Buck chocolate chip walnut cookie. Gooey, perfectly baked, and genuinely memorable. Very torn on the Muddy Buck - it didn't live up to my expectations. The good: 1) The ambiance! They have the mountain town atmosphere and decor down. The seating is a fun mix of tables and comfy couches, plus outside patio seating. There is a selection of board and card games available, and a slightly tucked away book for those who want some privacy (as I did on my morning visit, to take a work call). 2) The chocolate chip walnut cookies are SO good! Definitely get it warmed up. 3) Free wifi. The less good: 1) Given they roast their own coffee I had high expectations on the taste of my latte but it was just okay, nothing standout. 2) The cinnamon rolls are another thing the Muddy Buck is known for and maybe I just got one from a day-old / less fresh batch but it wasn't that great. The edges were crispy - not sure if that's intentional - I prefer my cinnamon rolls soft & pillowy. 3) The service is hit-or-miss and their overall workflow needs some adjusting. After most orders the cashier would walk away and tell the next person in line they'll be with them in just a few minutes, even if it wasn't that busy. When I got my Italian soda, I didn't get my cookie - I was told they were still working on it (it was in the display case) - yet my friend who ordered after me got her soda and cookie at the same time. I had to go up again to ask for it. 4) They're inconsistent with their use of disposable vs reusable packaging. My latte was in a to-go cup despite dining in and plenty of reusable mugs hanging there. Cinnamon roll came on a plate. Italian soda was a to-go cup. Cookie was in a to-go bag. They have both reusable and disposable silverware. Some adjustments are needed IMO. read more

After a morning walk around Evergreen Lake with my parents, we were in need of sustenance. After walking around the little Main Street area, we decided on Muddy Buck for a bite on the patio. It's an order at the counter and wait for your name to be called, kind of place - so we did just that. We all opted for NA beers and sandwiches - Dad had the BLTA (minus the A), the Turkey for mom and the loaded Veggie sammie for me! We snagged a cutie table on the patio and waited about 10 minutes for our food to be ready. Everything was so fresh, full of flavor and messssssy, but in the best kind of way. This was the cutest, coziest little cafe! We stopped in while at a pit stop to explore Evergreen with a tour group. The minute we stepped in, the cinnamon roll smell hits you and it was sooo good! They had so many good pastries but I knew I had to try a cinnamon roll from the smell alone. I got one FRESH right out of the oven, with a generous amount of icing that was perfectly melty on the warm bun. It's also HUGE and was a great deal! My hot chai with oat milk was spectacular! I've never been able to stop here during high season because traffic and parking are just too much. It is such a great cafe, cozy, warm and spacious. Like many of the old structures - it is built into the side of the hill. The service was friendly and welcoming. I met up with my hiking pal at the cafe to catch up. Stopped in for a late afternoon pick-me-up and was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Muddy Buck. It's a pretty big space with a bunch of chairs/couches and tables to hang out at. There's a cute little nook in the back that was a cozy spot to enjoy our coffees. My husband and I ordered 2 iced bevs- I got an iced latte with house made vanilla syrup and oat milk and my husband got an iced Jolt & Joe with the vanilla syrup and cream and both were absolutely delicious. It was one of the best lattes I've had and that vanilla syrup is damn good. They also had a tray of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies right by the counter we had to try and I'm so glad we did. What a cool little, local gem! I felt like I stepped back in time in this coffee house from the decor to the outside of the establishment to the restroom. Very cutesy and sets a chill vibe. I was very tempted to order food because the aromas were mouth watering. I mostly smelled freshly cooked bacon. Since I had already eaten I ordered ice coffee: white mocha & rose. It wasn't listed on the menu but the friendly lady at the register helped me come up with this concoction and WOW it was absolutely delicious. It was possibly the best I've ever had. it's cozy and it has good coffee. evergreen is also just such a wonderful location, grab a cup and either window shop or walk around the lake. overall, i really do like this spot. only reason its a 4 star is... there's lots of potent food options in the menu. if you're just there for a cup of coffee, prepare to smell onions and cheeses and all the other goodies their offerings are comprised of. the smells were STRONG and i was just there to journal and sip. again, not the end of the world, not my favorite thing though. overall i do recommend the spot! read more

We were on the lookout for a cute cafe like this on a snowy weekday in evergreen. We stopped in and were shocked at how charming the Muddy buck is. The sweet lady who made our lattes did a wonderful job and it paired perfectly with the chilly weather and cozy cafe vibe. The cafe has an adorable arrangement of seating options from sofas, to outdoor pub style and practical tables for larger groups indoors. We sat on the sofa as it was so comfortable. We also noticed how there is a cute seating area directly ahead when you walk in that looks like you're at your own home. The atmosphere has the nice coffeehouse vibe. It's dark, cozy, a bit moody. The dark roast drip coffee was a good, solid cup. Not bitter. Robust taste you look for in a dark roast. The Cinderella latte (a specialty concoction for the season) was a cup of creamy sweetness. The espresso was lacking coming through the drink. The avocado toast with tomato relish added was tasty and satisfying but the bread could have used a longer toast or toasted twice. The bread was too soft for the toppings. The raspberry cream danish/croissant was delicious. There was a nice amount of raspberry for the size of the pastry and the croissant was flaky and fresh. Fresh was the key to this pastry. I went back a few days later to get a Raspberry Crown but it wasn't as good because it tasted day old. The croissant was dry and not crisp or flaky. The blackberry cheese danish must have been made the day I went back because it was flaky and crisp but not enough blackberries in it. Fresh made is always best. Staff was friendly. Evergreen is lucky to have this gem on the main drag of town. read more

We came to eat at nearby Wildflower only to find it closed and were bummed but immediately spotted this location and wandered in and couldn't have been happier for it! I had one of the best avocado toasts of my life here. You build your own and they have about 20 ingredients to choose from. It took a small wait to make it bc orders were in front of me but worth every second once I started eating it! A super generous size for the price with great coffee and specialty drinks as well as delicious pastries. Very friendly staff and a local's home-y vibe makes this a local gem.
