Hashtag ~ white chocolate, ginger, raspberry latte

First time here and so glad I stopped in. A cloudy, cool, Saturday and I had a London Fog on my mind but.... Only due to the vibes of the day... sought out a coffee shop on my way home from errands and found Hello Coffee. Cute little spot in a smaller strip mall with other businesses and eateries. Parking is snug but, ample spaces open at this time. The door was propped open, soft oldies playing as I entered, and chatter from the several tables of people inside. Decor is classic, simple, with some whimsy thrown in with vintage telephones in different displays. Ample seating and widely spaced for ease in getting around. Bathrooms available as well, of course. Great photo op for the table at the back with the turquoise desk phone. Menu for lattes is extensive with many unique flavor combos- enough that it was hard to choose. And, of course the standards are all there too. There's a small case with some small bites available as well. I didn't look too deeply because I had eaten already. Noticed a flyer on the counter for an upcoming comedy show- that was a fun surprise! Service was friendly and fast and my Hashtag (white chocolate, ginger, raspberry) latte was delicious. The raspberry was better than expected - it had a fresh flavor and mild tartness as if it were fresh and not a syrup. The flavors all blended very well together with the order of the items as listed as the same way I tasted them all. Good value for a specialty coffee in the 12 oz size at under $6. Will be back and recommend stopping in if you're in the area!

Ok coffee shop. Was pretty crowded on a Saturday morning. The place is spacious on the inside though. They had many drink options but most of them are sweet. The burritos are from some outside vendor so can't say much about them making food, but the egg and potato burrito was not good. Service was quick though and they have a punch card.

I had just ran the Revel Rockies Half Marathon in early June and was chilled, so I was craving a hot latte. After a quick Yelp search I drove to Hello Coffee. It was pretty busy for a Saturday morning, there was a buzz of groups visiting over coffee. The barista was friendly and answered my questions about their chai, which I ultimately chose. The wait was a little long, but again they were busy. The chai was warming and exactly what I needed after a chilly morning race. I wish it were a bit more spicy as I like a kick to my chai, but that's just my preference.

Cute coffee shop in Lakewood with a retro vibe. Large open area with lots of seating. They have a unique Latte menu and a good assortment of pastries, muffins and breakfast burritos. Good stuff!

I think this place was nice. I appreciated that they had a gluten free burrito option. It was good - maybe not *great* and I stopped eating it because I forgot to ask if it was also dairy free, but in a world where there often aren't hearty gluten free options, I really appreciated that. They have plenty of seating, really fast WiFi, and the people working there were very nice and answered lots of questions. They also moved through the line pretty quickly. They also have a ton of inventive coffee options. A lot of the options have a lot of sugar but a lot of people really like that and one could of course also order black coffee or less syrup etc. I would come back - it's not a place that I feel like, "OMG I need to come back to", but it met my needs and I was able to work there for a few hours so I appreciate that. The ambiance was also pretty cute.

The Ruben and fries I ordered, along with a honeycrisp cider, was an absolute treat. The only real criticism I would give is that, at leas in my experience with the Ruben sandwich, there was quite a lot of oil left on it that made it rather greasy. I stopped in for a quick takeout lunch. The place is at least twice the size of a typical cafe, with lots of seating, including patio seating for when it's warmer. I ordered a harvest salad which had apples, candied walnuts, blue cheese, and cranberries. There were many enticing options and I had a hard time choosing! At around 12.75 before tax & tip, I found those prices pretty reasonable. In fact, quite a steal compared to other meals I ate in this district on this trip. I didn't have to wait long for my to-go even though they were busy. I didn't take a pic because I figured the takeout container isn't ideal plating. Salad was pretty decent quality and portion was just right for lunch. I think I was expecting something a little fancier but in retrospect I think it was just right for the price. I'd stop in again, and maybe try their breakfast in the future.

The katsu seems like it's made as you order so the crunch is fresh and real and full of flavor with each bite. The ube latter is still one of my faves. The other sandos were just okay. Something felt missing from them - maybe a little toast of the bread like with the katsu sando. But they weren't as memorable as the katsu. In summary, Onto is still a cute coffee shop. You are more likely to get a seat if you come earlier in the day before anyone wakes up. And the best sando to choose is the katsu one. Drinks are honestly up to you. I can't drink coffee so the tune latte is my choice of a drink.

Unfortunately, one thing has been consistent all four times I've visited: the baristas are really not friendly. Every time I've gone, it feels like I'm a bother as a customer. Like, I've been excited when they get new menu items and when I ask questions, they seem like it's a huge inconvenience to answer. They don't make any conversation and legitimately, everyone I say thank you to (after placing my order, when grabbing my matcha today), they don't say "You're welcome" or engage with me any further. Today when I went to take my matcha to go, I said "Thank you!" super cheerfully, and the barista just walked away without saying anything. It's really a bummer to feel like my mere existence bothers them when I'm paying $10 (inducing tip) for a matcha. Speaking of cost. I do not have any problem spending $10 on a delicious specialty drink. I have my favorite matcha spots around town and GLADLY pay $10 for a well-crafted drink, even when my friends or coworkers give me a hard time about spending that much. Here at Onto, the drinks are good. But I do think they're a bit overpriced. For example, two of my favorite drink spots that I regularly go to make their drinks with fresh, house made purées. You can really taste the difference. At Onto, many of the flavored drinks I've gotten, I watch them make it and they are just made with Monin syrups. To me, I'd rather pay $10 for a drink that has fresh puree versus one I can get the flavoring at any big box store. Food: The first time I visited with my husband, we were really excited about the sandos. He ordered the chicken katsu and I ordered the eggs salad. My egg salad was shockingly bland, but nothing was really wrong with it. Fine to eat, would just prefer more seasoning. But my husband's sandwich was just all tendon. To the point where you couldn't finish the sandwich because it was just chewy tendon throughout. That was the only time we've ordered food, so I can't speak to other items. But I likely won't be getting a sando again. All in all, Onto has a great menu with lots of variety and fun flavors. I've enjoyed their hojicha and their black sesame matcha. Unfortunately, it's just not going to be my go-to due to me feeling like I'm bothering them every time I go. But if you're looking for a good drink and don't give much weight to customer service, Onto is certainly worth a try.
