Be prepared to slow down and enjoy! Homemade everything, made on the spot - nothing frozen and never prepared ahead of time, then reheated. Cozy little spot with friendly staff serving wonderful meals. The portions don't look that big until you cannot finish them! Enjoyed the Haystack (pictured) on this visit and dined outdoors to enjoy the mild weather. Free Wi-Fi makes it outdoors, too. If you are nearby and want a great meal, be sure to stop in.

This place is sooooo good. I ordered the Matt. Basically you get a surprise that isn't on the menu. It was to die for! My husband got the fried fish. We will definitely be back!

Waited an hour for my waffles - other people in my party had been finished eating for at least 20 minutes before my food finally came. After they figured out I hadn't gotten my food, four different staff members came to our table to tell me they had a problem with the batter. No one said I'm sorry - just had to tell me that the batter didn't turn out. Lol. At least my meal was comped and they brought me fresh bacon (had to ask) after my side of bacon sat on the table awaiting my waffles for around 40 minutes. Food was okay - bacon was too salty but the iced coffee was yummy. Probably won't return. Not worth the wait or the drive in my opinion.

I love getting an essential oil infused Oola tea from the Mudcat.

Driving through Southeast, Missouri, I needed some coffee and a "little something", so I made a…read morestop at Villainous Grounds. Their coffee of the week was White Chocolate Irish Cream, and I could not resist that! It came out hot, but not so hot that I could not drink it, and it was just the right sweetness. Their "little somethings" were a variety of muffins, scones, and cinnamon rolls. Maybe something else, but I stopped his recitation over the phone after he said "cinnamon rolls". Another winner, but next time I will take up their offer of heating it up. At the time I wasn't sure I was going to eat it right away, but I do love some drippy icing! They are still take-out only, and you can either call in your order, which I did, or you can appear outside their door and they will come out to take your order. I was very happy that the young lady who came out with my goodies was wearing a mask! Service was quick, and what I had was good, so give them a try if you're in the area!

The flavor, which started somewhat weak, got better with time -- perhaps due to the frozen coffee ice cubes. Anyway, this is a solid independent shop. I do recommend.
