Went here for happy hour. The happy hour prices are good not great. $3 off select appetizers and drinks. The Calamari was exceptionsl. Large portion and very tender. The Fried Green tomatoes were good but I found a red one that slipped in. They were topped with chilled shrimp doused with a remoulade sauce. The gumbo was more watery than I like and had much more celery, onions, and bell peppers than seafood. The crawfish were the tiniest I have ever seen and very sparingly added. One friend ordered the meatloaf ( in a Cajun seafood restaurant)? It actually was pretty good. Served with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. The server seemed to have had too much coffee or something. The ambiance is warm and inviting. $138 for 3 people at happy hour. Correction: The online HH menu was from a different Mudbugs. They have an idea of Cajun but just the idea Sorry but No Bueno this time Everything from bathrooms to menus were dirty. They offered happy hour when we arrived We order charbroiled oysters, after 10 minutes they came back telling us that they were not ready yet?? Why did she say they were not ready yet? So she offered something else. Then we ordered their special Amberjack fish and surprise they were out too! Ok, the boil Was super salty and most of mussels had no Meat inside, they came Empty. Pasta was just just ok, shrimp was overcooked Fried catfish basket was thick and burned and fries where cold and soggy (ughh) how can you f up fries? The poboy with crawfish was ok just that nothing to talk about Not good!! Not coming back again. read more

The food was amazing, from appetizer to dessert. Seafood fondue - 10/10, etoufee - 10/10, beignets - 10/10. Music was also great! Waitstaff was very attentive and helpful! Honestly, they're a leading contender for the Golden Yogi. Yak Yogi out read more

The environment was nice and clean, the waitstaff was even friendly and attentive. On the downside the food was overpriced and spiced (as pictured) for the portion and extremely salty. It was not what we expected it to be. I continue to do my own boils at home for much less and seasoned the way we like it. Thanks for the friendly service. read more

Everything about the menu layout, decoration, and dishes makes one feel like this is an upscale venue. Once you sit down, talk with the wait staff, and try the food, however, it feels more like a local eatery trying to figure out it's direction. There weren't many options for wine drinkers and the main bartender encouraged me to take the more economical route. ("I mean, you can get two glasses for the price of one if you get the canned wine.") I'm not pretentious about wine, but I've yet to have anything great that's come out of a can and was rather apprehensive. After a bit of deliberation, I decided to go with his recommendation, the Porch Pounders Red Blend, and was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the seafood boil with king crab + shrimp, hot. Instead of four corn cobs, I asked to substitute two with andouille sausage. The bartender had to check with management, but it was approved. When my boil arrived, it was accompanied by the usual server ware (see picture). After a few bites, I didn't find it anywhere near hot, so the 'tender brought me a small cup of the spicy seasoning (Slap Yo Momma products). When we were talking about my seafood boil choices, I must have missed the component where king crab was $25 for HALF a lbs...so my bill was significantly higher than I thought. I didn't raise a stink about it because it was a business meal, but I'd be cautious when adding ingredients. I also asked the bartender if the shrimp were head-on, to which he said they were, but arrived without heads. Overall I was happy with my wine and meal. I agree with other Yelpers that Mudbugs is a bit more pricey than other venues in the area (even without my +$25 snafu). I understand why Mudbugs is in the cajun/creole culinary genre, but I'd label it more aspiring. All that being said, I will most likely revisit Mudbugs when I'm back in the area. I'd love to try other dishes on the menu! read more

Lunch at noon today and the only people in the restaurant. Service was slow, food was good. Ordered bread pudding to go for dessert and waitress brought to our table to tell us they were out of rum caramel sauce but she subbed chocolate sauce! On bread pudding???? Then she said she could do strawberry, again on bread pudding?? This after waiting 20mins for dessert to go!! The tip-o-meter dropped a bit, paid our bill and left. Bathrooms were GROSS also. read more

So why in the world did they change the shrimp and grits here? The plate now comes drenched in bbq sauce. It was HORRIBLE! Sent it back for the Cajun pasta. Hubby ordered the shrimp po boy and the shrimp was still pink. Not cooked thru Done here Way overpriced for what you get read more

I would not recommend the shrimp and grits. I had them tonight and they were so so, so. I taste it no cheese in the grits as advertised. The shrimp were just shrimp not bbq, just shrimp with a little hot flavor. I'm glad they got away fm the grit cake but this shrimp and grits are pretty bad for $18. The shrimp and the grits need more love in my opinion. I still like this place but not this dish. Did they change chefs? I couldn't finish it, so not good. read more

From very slow very poor service to inedible food...was shocking this is the creation of Chef Lee who's Rock n Rolls sushi is excellent in food, service and ambience. Order at your own risk. Second time we've tried this place and both experiences the same: poor (old seafood/over-salty) food, poor service, terrible seats with difficulty maneuvering chairs and your own legs to under the table. The holes in center of table - great idea. Amazing that we were served crab without anything but a fork...they said they were "out of sizzors!" (Ten other people there...no crab cracker/sizzors). Two strikes: we won't make this mistake again. Horrible disappointment. Maybe they're just waiting for the lease to run out before they close idk‍ sad. Very sad. read more

We went here with my family for my graduation weekend and it was AMAZING. Taylor our waitress was awesome. The wings were awesome we tried all the flavors the garlic pepper wings were everyone's favorite. We had the street corn, the shrimp boil and the crab boil and the spices were wonderful not to spicy but full of a lot of flavor. I got the tenderloin and garlic Parmesan orzo with a back potatoes and it was to die for. The steak was overcooked they took it back and got me a new one. Which was cooked perfectly and the manager was very nice when he brought it out. The atmosphere was casual but very upscale at the same time. My husband ordered the Crawfish Po'Boy and it was delicious. The cocktail sauce was way too thick though. Also, we ordered the blackened fish entree and it was good, the stuffed fish was okay but not worth the price. The dirty rice simply had too many gizzards in it but the blanc sauce was amazing. All in all an okay experience, just a bit over priced for the quality of ingredients. read more

Great food and awesome drinks. You gotta try the blueberry lemonade. The shrimp boil is amazing.

Yo' mamma would be embarrassed to serve these "chargrilled oysters", I don't think these folks have ever been to New Orleans. The gumbo was a blonde roux, should be very dark brown and full of flavor. Shrimp and grits could use some help with bell peppers, tomatoes and onions. The shrimp were very fresh, nice size and crisp. Hopefully given some more time things will improve. read more

Based on the other reviews we're weren't sure about going but coming back from the beach and on the verge of hangry we decided to give it a shot. And I'm glad we did. Turns out they have happy hour from 5:00-7:00 every day. We started with a dozen oysters 1/2 raw and 1/2 grilled. They were amazing with the grilled ones the clear winner at $2 a piece it was a win. We also had a mixed seafood boil that was also on the happy hour menu. It had crab, mussels, and shrimp with corn in the cob and potatoes. It was perfectly cooked. The shrimp were huge and so succulent. At $15 it was a steal! Top it off with a watermelon margarita and one of the best michiladas I've ever had. We were in Heaven. I also tried their Buffalo wings that were $1 a piece. They were delicious and perfectly cooked as well. I hate when the skin on the wings is not cooked all the way. These were perfect. The waitress was attentive without being obtrusive which is what we like. We will definitely be back!! read more

We ordered two pounds of crawfish and fried gator bites that were also $12 but the gators was worth it! Great environment, very small place only holds about 90 people. I have been to mudbugs twice now and will definitely be returning! Their house watermelon martini is a very refreshing drink to start with. The fired gator and oysters on the half shell are good starters, but the chicken & sausage gumbo is by far my favorite starter. For the entree I tried the cajun chicken pasta, which has a nice flavor to it. The blackened chicken over linguine alfredo was great, however I didn't care for the dirty rice (needs more flavor in my opinion). All in all, the service and food has been great both times and I look forward to trying some of their other menu items on my third visit. read more

Pretty good food! Very messy, in a good way, seafood boil :) the service was pretty good too.

Food was high priced for poor quality. I ate shrimp and grits, which were too salty to eat. I only ate the salty shrimp. My wife ate shrimp pesta linquine. It was my original order (we switched plates) because I couldn't handle the taste of the pesta. Since she likes pesta sauce she took my plate. She said the pesta was good but again, the blackened shrimp was too salty. I told her when we left that you can't hardly mess up shrimp, but they came real close. It was our first trip there, but we won't be back. read more

Whatever spices they use for their crawfish...you could put on anything and it would elevate the dish. I've been twice while visiting from San Antonio and both times we sat at the bar. Their crawfish is excellent and the bar top service is amazing too. Didn't have to ask for anything, the bar tender was always one step ahead. read more
