    Iced Matcha Latte
    Jordan T.

This spot zoomed me back to a point of nostalgia that I haven't felt in years. The workspaces were crafted with elegance and the beanbags were comfortable for studying and relaxing. My Iced Strawberry Matcha was cold, refreshing, and strong in flavor. I highly encourage enthusiasts to come explore such a spot.

My friend and I have been to MUD\WTR :gather a couple of times now so I was able to try a few items. I was so obsessed with the donut they had, that I had to come back two weeks in a row! Now the baked goods are sourced from Sugar Bloom Bakery, but goodness are they delicious! The Devil's Food Donut is one of the best doughnuts I've had in my life. And...it's gluten free!? Sheesh, how fascinating but I'm so in for it. Like I said, two weeks in a row I needed it! The drinks all sound really cool but have been pretty hit or miss for us. The Strawberry Matcha has such an odd taste to it, not a fan. The regular Matcha is much better and I would get it again, but head caution that it does not taste like you're typical Matcha Latte so don't expect that. Today I had the Pumpkin Spice and loved it! Their cups for the smaller drinks are so cool! They have a pretty cool top to them that seems eco-friendly and efficient, such a win. They also have a bunch of cool events that happen here, including a daily meditation. The meditation room looks very zen~ I'm intrigued! MUD\WTR :gather is excellent for more unique and 'healthy' caffeinated drinks, a chill spot to relax/study/work/gather with friends in their amazing indoor space or outdoor picnic tables!

Parking: Find metered parking on Main St or there's free neighborhood parking on 2nd St during the day, just read the signs. Experience: The woman at the counter was super nice and let me try a sample. I got the strawberry matcha which was pretty good but had a strange aftertaste, I'm not sure if it was the matcha or the coconut cashew milk. I loved all the seating options! The space is super cozy and it's a great place to get work done! I want to go back for a smoothie or a turmeric latte.

A very trendy spacious coffee shop. As we entered it felt like the store was designed with spiritual intention, very welcoming. We were so surprised by how big the shop was compared to when we looked from the outside. The day we stopped by there were 3 parties in front of us. The baristas brew drinks like crazy. They got a small drink menu and a small box of pastries. We got the O.G. and matcha mint. We both find our drinks to be grainy, heavy on texture, and not pleasant to drink. I really want to go back to give other drinks a try but I had to force myself to drink the matcha I ordered. Other than that it seems like they do events. They have benches, bean bags, tables and chairs around. Overall, great location and space, not so much on the drinks.

My brain is temporarily closed for morning and afternoon coffee maintenance. That said let's begin this cafe review. MUD\WTR is a trendy coffee oasis that emits a namaste of tranquility. It's located on Main street in Santa Monica. They have prodigious approach to traditional coffee; they offer an organic coffee that focus on energy without the jitters and immune support. They offer a variety of blends such as OG, matcha, tumeric, cacao and rest. Similarly, they sell merch, mugs, coffee bean bags, hats, etc. Its interior space was massive with high wooden exposed ceiling and skylights. Moreover, their unique rustic tropical design and tranquil atmosphere subserving one's neuronal activity. I came here for the first time because of my curiosity of their brand name. In addition, they have some outdoor seats for those who prefer fresh air and a tan. Lol. I was greeted by a mellifluous tall white chick barista. I perused their almost alien menu; I end up ordering a small The Iced Latte OG (original blend, coconut creamer, maple syrup and milk). It was light in taste and uniquely refreshing. Prices were fair. Service was spot on. Staff were competent. Parking lot available albeit limited. Store vibe was very relaxing. Collectively, it's hip trendy coffee shop perfect to chill and get your office work done. Overall, I had a good experience and chill in one of their faux leather couches. I highly recommend this coffee shop.

Grounding, earthy cafe with chaga options for lattes and matcha. Came here to met up with a friend on a Friday afternoon and it was crowded, though we were able to nab a seat at the counter then move to bean bags. There's a member-only section along with private rooms. The barista was friendly and recommended I do cashew milk with my latte (you have a choice of milk). Metered street parking available. Credit cards accepted. You pay the counter first then they call your name. Great options for those who are vegan or simply health-focused.

Visit & Service Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon around 1 p.m. and was greeted right away. The staff offered samples of their drinks, which was a nice touch. I tried a few and ended up going with the original--it has an earthy taste that I really liked. The turmeric flavor was a close second. I'm not into super sweet drinks, so this was perfect for me. Atmosphere & Seating I found a seat pretty easily, and I love that there are outlets under each chair--super convenient. Everyone around me was focused and working, which actually helped me stay in the zone too. (Now that I think about it the mushroom drink definitely works, I felt so locked in) I ended up staying for about four hours and got a ton of work done. Parking Parking is limited; the lot only fits about 5-6 cars. Luckily, I grabbed a spot when I arrived, but definitely something to keep in mind if you're coming during busier hours.

One of my friends and I came in for a cold plunge and sauna session outside of the communal workspace/coffee shop. Inside, MUD\WTR offers a clean, refreshing environment full of plants, muted light, and the fresh aroma of lion's mane coffee. We got the beauty latte and spicey cacao latte as warm refreshers. The spicey cacao absolutely stole the show for us! The server also was wonderful at recommending us optimal milks for our orders and informing us more about MUD\WTR and the events available. This would easily become my new favorite spot to chill at for mushroom coffee samples and a sweet community and workspace :)

Inside MUD\WTR :gather Santa Monica: Mushroom Drinks, Zen Vibes & the Cold-Plunge Café You Didn't Expect It started as a casual caffeine detox... but turned into a co-working cult hangout with cayenne mushroom lattes and podcast studios. Why I went I was burnt out, under-caffeinated, and lured in by every YouTube ad whispering "ditch your coffee." I'd heard of Mud\Wtr--but didn't realize they had an actual café. Let alone one that looked like a minimalist wellness temple crossed with a co-working commune. What actually happened So I show up expecting a sleepy mushroom latte and maybe a granola bar. Instead? I walk in with a friend, and step into a room of warehouse-chic meets modern zen. Concrete walls. Hemp. Plants. A bus outside that says "MUD/WTR" like it's about to take you to Burning Man. There's a members-only podcast studio, co-working space, and a communal vibe that felt like part Soho House, part health-food bunker. I tagged along with a social media friend who was podcasting while I looked for a place to set up my laptop to work. I ordered a cayenne-spiced mushroom drink--handheld-customized by Brian, the manager who somehow made adaptogens feel sexy--and a vegan chia pudding with rose petals that was both delicious and powerful. The drink? Think spicy mocha without the caffeine crash. Unexpectedly delicious. Earthy in a "this might cure my headache" kind of way. Also? Outlets at every seat (as in every one), outdoor sauna + cold plunge (closed that day, but I peeked), and WiFi that actually works. No lie--I uploaded a 4K YouTube video and was really impressed with the amenities. The vibes Let's just say I walked in skeptical and left lowkey considering selling my Nespresso and join the mushroom revolution. I even made a mental note to come back for a sound bath or guided meditation, as they seem to have a room that hosts them weekly. The ambiance was giving "forest monastery meets startup incubator." Very on brand for @CassandraBankson's energy alignment meets esthetician-core aesthetic. Mini critique If I'm being real: the no caffeine rule hurt. As a certified coffee addict, I wish they had even one real bean brew for us in transition. But I respect the brand's commitment to keeping things functional-fungal. Logistics: Parking? A few free spots out front, and paid street parking nearby. Hours? 7am-6pm daily--though I selfishly wish they were open later for nighttime mushroom rituals. Outlets: abundant. WiFi: chef's kiss. The Nitty Gritty: Bathrooms? Legit immaculate. There was even a humidifier for the plant. Clean, stocked, artsy. Zero complaints. No weird smells. Even the sauna area looked hygienic and maintained, which is rare for some "holistic" wellness joints I've visited. Verdict Would I go back? Absolutely. With my laptop, group chat, and a pre-made espresso shot (just in case). If you're mushroom-curious or need a space that's more "conscious community" than café--MUD\WTR :gather Santa Monica is your spot. And if you've already been, I need to know: did you cold plunge? Was it transcendent? Tag me @CassandraBankson if you go. And sip something spiced for me.

    Strawberry matcha

Staffs were kind. Ambiance was great. The drink.. was not my taste at all.. I had mango lassi which was $15 for a cup and og latte for my wife first. But we didn't like the drinks we got. So my wife took my mango lassi and I went to the counter to change the og latte to strawberry matcha. After waiting 15minutes I finally got the strawberry matcha. The strawberry matcha had some spices and they killed all the good flavor and smell of matcha. Strawberry milk was made very mild so it didn't make any balance or harmony of flavor. Pricy drinks but not that worthy for me

    hot original rose

What a great experience! The cashier at the front was the sweetest girl and even offered me samples of the coffee and had so much patience explaining the mushroom coffee and what it does for mental clarity before I even ordered! The vibes were so peaceful and perfect for work or studying, and i think they even offer a meditation session in a different room at 9 am and noon for like $15 or something. There is plenty of seating and different ways to sit too! I got the original rose latte hot and it tasted amazing. Overall great coffee and great vibes.

The Space: This studio is a second-floor loft with tall windows and skylights overhead, so natural light pours in. The room is spacious, uncluttered, and simply arranged, which amplifies the quiet, reflective tone of the class. The Class: We began with a collective Om and alternate-nostril breathing, then moved into a steady sequence of Sanskrit-cued postures rather than a flowing practice. (I did have to peek at others for a few poses!) Because there was no music, every breath, footstep, and verbal cue became part of the atmosphere. At first, I felt more self-aware, but that actually drew me deeper into my breath. I ended up finding it rather powerful and reflective. The Teacher: Jerome was warm and attentive, especially with first-timers. He introduced himself, encouraged me to place my mat wherever I felt comfortable, and offered hands-on adjustments that invited the body to relax deeper rather than push harder. Vibe: His use of Sanskrit cueing, paired with steady breathwork (beginning with a collective Om and alternate-nostril breathing), created a classical, contemplative tone. This was not a flow; it was a deliberate exploration of posture and breath. Community: The overall atmosphere felt community-oriented. People were chatting with one another as they gathered up their belongings after class, which made the space feel friendly and welcoming. Practical Notes: I also loved that this is a drop-in studio. There's no advance sign-up needed, just show up with your mat. Parking is free right outside. It's a DONATION-BASED class. Welcome to all! Quick Note: The class isn't heated, but with so much sunlight streaming in, a gentle natural warmth builds throughout the practice.
