Effing awesome!!!! We hit this place on the way through to the Black Hills. Wow what a find. It looks a little sketchy but the people and ambiance was great. We ordered for the 4 of us biscuits and gravy, chorizo burrito, France toast sticks and of course their famous mud bog. We ate family style the only complaint is we only had 1 order of the mud bog and we all wanted one. The biscuits and gravy was crazy tasty. The gravy was the perfect spicy level and included lots of sausage. The chorizo burrito was spicy and hot. The mud bog is biscuits ,eggs, sausage, gravy potatoes and cheese. It was one of the best breakfasts sandwiches I have had. You cannot eat it as a sandwich because it is smothered in gravy. The gravy is so flavorful and tasty. There must be a lack of good eateries in Rapid City. I see a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews. I only had the biscuits and gravy so maybe the rest of the food is good so I can only go by what I ate. The biscuits seemed like they were out of a can I could be wrong by they were small. The gravy wasn't bad just not enough of it. The portions were small I feel like if you are going to serve biscuits and gravy give me some food. I would have had to eat two orders to get filled and I'm not a pig. I'm not a fan of using paper plates so much. Garbage produced and money wasted on buying plates doesn't make sense. The place isn't that big they could buy a few dishes and 3 sink method wash them. It's a strange set up inside an old thrift store maybe?? I gave 3 stars because the people were nice and I didn't try anything else. read more

I had driven by this place quite a few times and happened to notice the words "Biscuits and Gravy" on their window. You can't go wrong with biscuits and gravy right? So my wife and I decided to give the place a try on a lunch date. We were not disappointed. I of course had the biscuits and gravy, which I highly recommend. The chef suggested trying their sausage patty along with it, and for good reason, it was delicious. My wife tried a wrap and liked it as well. The customer service was great! The atmosphere was rather unique as the restaurant is combined with what appears to be an antique store. My husband and I are from out of town and decided to eat breakfast at the Mud Hole. We are so glad we did, it was delicious! They have a signature breakfast food the Mud Bog that my husband had and he loved it. I ordered the Biscuits and gravy. The Biscuits were light and fluffy and the gravy was perfect! We randomly saw this place on our way to the post office in Rapid City, it just looks like a place you want to get a great breakfast. We decided to come back the next day. This is a great breakfast place with a simple but great menu! I had the Mud Muffin, it was perfect! They have only been here a year but it feels like the kind of place that has been there 50 years. It's fun to look at the thrift store items while waiting for your order. Be prepared for plastic silverware and paper plates but trust me it fits the atmosphere.
