Of course, I got so many…read moregroceries that my already depleted body was screaming at me that it would rather die than carry them the three blocks to the bus stop. But once on the bus, I'd be okay, right? Well, if the bus ever came.... forty-five minutes later I asked a driver of the B63 if the B65 was even operating. He assured me it was, so I continued to stand with the other grumpy bus-less people. I told my new friend (after nearly an hour, you WILL make friends), that the bus was coming. His response: " Yah. Every other Mother's Day." I cracked up then did a mini happy dance when the bus pulled up, 52 minutes after I arrived at the stop. I pondered my relationship with the B65 the whole ride home.... yes, it nearly stood me up on a street corner today. But nine out of ten times, it's running great. Not only that, it conveniently goes from the front of my apartment, past several train options (2,3, N,Q,R,F,G, B, D....) on it's happy pathway to Smith Street and and Downtown Brooklyn. Love it or leave it, and be glad it isn't the short bus.

But within NYC, the bus is how I travel. I like to stay above ground. Nothing better than to say to an out-of-town friend, "let's just hop on this here bus", to take them somewhere. A much better way to see the city than taking the subway. When I first moved to Crown Heights, I was psyched to be near the A. But the A is actually 6 annoying, litter-strewn blocks away and the A at 830 in the morning is NOT delightful. So I set off the find alternate ways to get places, which having moved from from the Clinton Hill/Bed-Stuy Border (como se dice "train-free" en espagnol), is now a specialty of mine. I discover that walking up Nostrand several blocks brings me to a 3 train, which is convenient, but I find myself feeling scowly for having to go further away from my house first in order to get closer to the city. THEN in an unprecedented turn of events, I was hanging out at the famed Starlite Lounge on Bergen when a bus whooshed by. And it was going...towards downtown! I had found my new love. I'm sorry B38 Limited, you've been replaced (still a sexy second though, dohn worry). Now, the B65, like any NYC MTA bus does have its drawbacks, the most prominent being (as the esteemed Mo P mentioned) sometimes....it just doesn't come. I don't know why. Maybe when the driver calls out sick, they just don't replace him? Maybe there is a traffic jam? I know not. But still, I wait. I refuse to give in. I am a bus loyalist (my girlfriend wants to kill me sometimes though. "But the train's right THERE." She just doesn't understand). My morning commute now consists of me walking one stop to the B65, waiting five minutes while staring at the Starlite looking for signs of life or wondering what building Mo P lives in, reading my book on a comfortably full bus ride, then hopping on the 2/3 at Bergen to get me to Court and Montague. Average trip door-to-door: 25 minutes.

This is another subway station that could definitely benefit from MTA equipping this station with elevators! People who cannot easily navigate the stairs, such as with strollers, carriages, or wheelchairs cannot easily use this subway station! MTA make this 116th St. Station accessible to everyone!

He just drove by where I was waiting, didn't open the doors and left. I was left stranded and had to call my husband to come get me. If I didn't have that option I would have had to waste $20 on a Lyft or Uber ride. Absolutely garbage service.

NJ Transit Access Link takes a lot of time to even arrange and Logisticare is a disaster so who can we call to get around with ease? EZ Ride! It's all relatively simple, fill out the application and send it in, put money into account and when ready call for rides which show within a fair amount of time and pay a small ride fee per trip - Not as quick as Lyft/Uber, but about the time a cab would come but at much less of a price per ride. The Drivers are friendly as are the call center/accounts team whenever I have to call in. I'm glad EZ Ride is available and is just as it's name suggests - EZ to set up, my client gets in when the driver shows up and then he rides. With such limited choices in having people get around at a low cost but in a timely manner I hope that EZ Ride keeps up and perhaps even expands.

When I was younger this was the local station to my preferred hotel. The hotel has gone "upscale"…read morebeyond all recognition. By that I mean they ruined all the personality of the place. Warn marble stair steps are now Crisp carpet, the wainscoting replaced by wallpaper... Of course now they charge mor a night then the old weekly rate.... I remember leaving the station one night when a rat the size of a cat ran in front of us, I was looking away but the scream... Someday I'll get my hearing back. The whole neighborhood has changed, once it was kind of run down, the businesses were often commercial, this now it's NOLita. The station remains much the same though. It's not to big, tile walls, not to clean and is served by just one local line. The ticket window gas one person (do they sell tickets? The tokens are gone.) While it's slow here, I've always felt safe. It's fine, nothing fancy and soon I'm are on your way.

The bus was brand new (it still had the, "new car" smell) and was equipped with electrical outlets to charge phones and tablets. The seats were comfortable and we departed on time. The absolute best mode of transportation from Da Bronix to the Flatiron District. Even when they…read morehad those old school buses running the Bronx-Manhattan routes back in the day it was awesome. The BxM9 has been and always will be the way to travel quickly in between Manhattan and The Bronx. This bus service offers efficient and personable bus drivers, (I think it's cool to be able to say, 'Good Morning' to a bus driver and actually receive a pleasant response back to start the day off right...it's the little things sometimes). There are comfortable reclining seats, individual overhead lights, individual a/c, and to add to the comfort once you hit the highway the bus driver turns off the interior bus lights so you can get a nice nap during your ride or if you prefer you can use your overhead light if needed. Using the express bus almost daily made me never ever want to ride the train again...I got seriously spoiled. There's a timetable that is adhered to and can be found online and downloaded to your phone. The schedule is pretty much on point even during rush-hour due to the fact that there are designated bus lanes between 30 something street and 59th street on Madison Ave going North and 125th-110th thru 23rd street on 5th Ave going South (Drop Off only). The commute in either direction can be anywhere from 20 mins - 1.5hr, depending on the day plus time of day, driver, traffic or road construction, and/or any other NYC variable that can be thrown at you. As a daily rider you eventually get the hang of timing your commute accordingly. The fare is about $6.00 each way, but if your company offers Flexible Spending Benefits this can help subsidize the cost of using this mode of transport. In addition, if you need to transfer to the train or local bus those connections are free. The BxM9 Express Bus is well worth it for its comfort and convenience.
