The only good thing at this place was the receptionist and the clean floors. After a ten minute evaluation of a sore on my Umbrella Cockatoo's right leg, without even feeling the sore, I was asked if I wanted blood-work and an x-ray done. I questioned the need for blood-work when it was clearly an injury not a biological problem. I agreed to the x-rays to determine if there was an underlying cause and declined the overly high price of the blood-work. I was advised they could put a cone around her neck to prevent her from picking at her leg. I agreed to let them put on her. Next, a kid named Matt came in and attempted to put the collar on her. The collar was clearly to large for her and would have prevented her from being able to reach her food or water. I had to tell "Matt" the collar was to small. Matt proceeded to pull up on the cone streching my parrot's neck. I had to tell him twice that cone was to big and would not work. He removed the collar and left to get a smaller size. A short time later the vet returned and was now holding a smaller cone. So small in fact, it would, at most, fit a Budgie. I had to point that out to the vet. The vet told me she would be back with my Cockatoo's meds. With no explanation on how to administer it, only the dose. Four-hundred and three dollars later, all I left with was my cockatoo and a non-prescription, pain medication that could have been purchased on line for twenty dollars less. Would I recommend Mt. Spokane Vet.? No, not for parrots. read more

I have called multiple times over a 2 week period to talk to the equine vet about a surgery my horse needs. And get a rough estimate as to what it would cost. No one could give me that information! I left a message every time and again today and the vet is never in and has not returned any messages. Not a place I want to do business with. read more

horrible this would be a zero if I could. This vet is just looking for ways to take money from you. Would never recommend. I went to have my dogs ears looked at and establish care. (something my dogs has never had an issue with getting looked at in the past) their "only option" was for me to spend $200+ just to sedate him making it $600+ just to check his ears. They tried to look to see if the canal was intact, but couldn't see clearly.... but they didn't even try to clean his ears first. That is something he is very used to getting done. (When I called to complain the manager was even confused why they didn't clean his ears.) (Management was also trash. They did nothing but talk to me in circles. Saying "sorry for your experience, that is not something we want you to go through" but did nothing about my situation.) I expressed that I didn't want to sedate him. In which they said there was no alternative option. They wanted to do a urine analysis (because of the bread of dog) which I was fine with, but they didn't do a test, nor did they communicate that they were not going to do it.(the only reason I found out was the 2nd time I talked with management only because I asked) The vets solution was I could sedate my dog or I could continue to use the medication I already had at home. ‍ So in conclusion I paid almost $300 to have the vet NOT look at my dogs ears... but great news my dog has a "clean bill of health" and I got $75 off because I pre paid my $75 appointment fee.. (news flash it's not a discount If I already paid it.) Would not recommend this vet to my enemy. horrible veterinary service and horrible customer service. If you have an "exotic" animal, take it elsewhere. They don't work with them nor know much about them, yet they'll take you in and charge you 3x than the other place would. They also continuously lied to me about blood test that took a month instead of a week. They never returned any calls and still tried to charge me 5 times more for the treatment than another vet clinic. Some techs also don't know medical terminology and would rather call something vulgar. What a joke. read more

An update to my previous review. My son brought in his dog for an appt to check on a cyst his dog had. My son then asked me to contact them to schedule the removal. I asked for a total and asked when would be a good time to bring him in. A few days later i received a letter from these people telling me i was no longer welcome to their place. Be careful people, if you post an honest review they do not take the high road and try to rectify the problem. They ban you from ever bringing an animal there again. First off, I had been bringing my animals here for 26 years but when they changed ownership which I've heard is now corporate they are not nice. Secondly, I would never bring an animal there again, it was my 30 year old son who brought his dog in, paid for an examination, they told him the price and my son was out of town so he asked me to schedule the surgery and then I get a nasty letter. read more

I'm not a client of Mt Spokane, but today I had a wonderful experience with them. My neighbors and I found a fawn that had been hit by a car. We'd been watching this fawn grow up all summer. He was badly injured but we hoped to save him. We took him to Mt Spokane because they are the closest vet that is licensed to take care of wild animals. They were so warm and understanding and so compassionate towards us and the fawn! They are going to try to save him, although I think that is not likely possible. If they can't save him, at least he will be able to die peacefully and not in tremendous pain and eaten by coyotes. Our hearts are broken, but if he can't be saved, at least he can go peacefully. read more

We took our bearded dragon in and he wasn't properly taken care of. He was there for four hours without ANY heat source. We got him back so freaking cold I'm not even kidding. We were told that you guys had proper heating systems for him and by cold he was you could tell he didn't have any heat the entire time. It took him another four hours to move again after we got him back under his basking light. I paid $185 to first be forgotten about in the room for half hour to forty mins and most importantly, to not have my pet properly taken care of. It just doesn't sit well with me. read more

We had a very pleasant experience here. Pretty much all of the front desk receptionist ladies are friendly and attentive. Shout outs to "Rachel". She's very friendly. They were able to get us in last minute. The lady getting our pet's information seemed thorough and like she cares for sick animals. Dr. Wood saw our pet and she was wonderful. She kept in contact with us, even with short staff. She gave us the good, bad and ugly, but did her absolute best to help our pet. We had a little pet rat that was going to inevitably pass soon because she had phnemonia and kidney failure, she was older too. Dr. Wood put her in a warm incubator to raise her body temperature and gave her warm food. She gave us medications to give to our pet that seemed to ease our rat. Our pet was at the end regardless, but it was a very peaceful passing. Hazel was her name and she went peacefully in my arms at home with us. Thank you all for helping to make Hazel's passing over the Rainbow Bridge as peaceful and loving as possible!! read more

My senior furbaby injured his leg and in a couple of days he suddenly became extremely lethargic and stopped eating and drinking. I called Mount Spokane Veterinary Clinic early Friday morning and they got him in immediately to see the doctor. Because of Covid cases rising in Spokane, they didn't allow anyone inside so we had to drop him off which was a little unnerving for us because he's never been left alone with strangers before, plus in his condition we were also worried about all the stress this would cause. But with his condition getting worse, the sooner we acted the better the outcome would be. I admit. I'm a selfish pet owner. I want the very best possible care for my furbabies and Mount Spokane doesn't disappoint. They thoroughly examined him and also ran blood work in house so we got his results in a matter of hours instead of days. Thankfully it was nothing serious but for our piece of mind, I'm glad we had the blood work done. Even though he couldn't tell me how he was treated in there by himself, I could tell when he was returned to us how he was treated. He's a very sensitive pup and any harsh treatment would have been very apparent in his behavior when we got home and he displayed nothing of the sort. The Doctors and staff here are so very caring and compassionate when it comes to their genuine love of animals and it shows in how they conduct and do business. I can't describe or put into words how much I truly appreciate everything they have done for my boys. He's almost back to his normal ball squeaking, toy stealing self and it's thanks to these amazing folks at Mount Spokane Veterinary Clinic. read more

I went to my Spokane veterinary clinic last week. The facility is clean and very cute. It is really nice to know they have an exotic vet there so I was able to get my Syrian hamster in. I like that the doctor was very gentle and handled my hamster well. My ham is on the road to recovery. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of two was because the cost was a bit high. In the past when I lived in a different area I only needed to pay 30 to get my Syrians seen so this was almost double. I did enjoy how they send reminder phone notifications as well. read more

Initially I had a wonderful experience and would drive out of my way to take my rabbits there. Dr Ratcliffe was great but left. Dr wood took over. Since, it hasn't been great. I took my rabbit there when he was having an issue and she didn't know what was wrong-she said he needed an MRI. I scheduled him at WSU and the vet there diagnosed him without so much as an x-ray. read more

I took my dog, Bella, here to repair her aural hepatoma. The reception staff is friendly and helpful. They were willing and able to estimate treatment prices for me. The doctors and vet techs were also informative along the way. They made sure to follow up on how my dog was healing, and let me know how to try to prevent a recurrence. It's also a well appointed place, set up for various types and sizes of animals. I'd say both I and my dog had a good experience and plan on returning here for future veterinary visits. read more

Up until yesterday I had amazing experiences with this vet! Yesterday I brought my cat in and it was his first time going to this veterinarian so I gave them all of my paperwork that I had about him for his file and so they knew what he had done before. They did not look at them and didn't ask me about giving him vaccines before they went ahead and gave him 2 vaccines that he ALREADY HAD! They said it was a miss communication with the paperwork because the technician didn't read it and lied to the doctor saying that I said yes to the shots. When they came out they told me that they gave him the shots and I told them that he already had them and the doctor had to go check the paperwork and make sure then he said and is he neutered?He didn't even know that he was neutered. They are lucky that he is doing ok for now but this should not be happening! READ WHAT THE OWNER GIVES YOU! I will not be coming back to this veterinarian for either of my cats. Make sure to tell them exactly what you do and don't want done or they will go ahead and do whatever they think needs done. read more

They have stayed late to get us in on the same day and call to check up on how the dogs are doing after being seen. Dr. Woodd is hands down one of the most incredible veterinarians I have ever had the chance to work with. I was with Mt. Spokane as a veterinary assistant for about a year and she is so passionate about her career and the animals she sees. She's very knowledgeable and always eager to educate clients to make sure their pets are getting top notch care. I would not recommend seeing the other 2 doctors (poor attitudes, always seemed annoyed at anything that wasn't a simple fix, etc). My overall experience at this clinic was pretty positive. They were great. My dog has a fatty cyst and we were worried about it. The Doctor looked at it and thought '80%' it was a just what it was (Fat Cyst) They didn't push for extra tests, although I got one just to be sure. This is a long over due review and a new review added into it. This place rocks! For starters they helped us with our pit bull that had cancer. They understood the decisions we made were based on her quality of life. They performed surgeries to remove tumors on her back leg. Later they amputated her front leg when she had cancer in the bone. Our dog always loved visiting with these guys and they gave her the best care. She lived a great life as a tri-pod and her recovery was excellent. When her cancer changed they told us it was time. They were wonderful allowing us to be with her to the very end and sent a lovely card later. Fast forward about three years down the road and we have moved from Mead to Fairfield, Wa. Our six month old puppy got sick and our regular vet was not available. We called a place close to us and they wanted to charge initial visit of $103!!! I felt like she was just a number not a member of our family. I did not think it over again before hoping in the car and driving the hour to take our puppy to Mt. Spokane. Heck they weren't open yet so I had not even called them. However, when I got in and explained the situation they had me fill out the paperwork and took her right back. I left her there, but I KNEW I was leaving her in great hands. I was not even back home and they had already ran a blood test and called for discussion. Another full blood panel to check her organs and then IV's and anti-nausea medication. They charged me the normal office visit and did not try to gouge me on the initial visit. Our little Fiona will be just fine thanks to this team! If you want a group that understands that to many of us these are not 'pets' but are members of our family then I highly recommend Mt. Spokane. Thank you so much for realizing how serious this could be and taking such good care of our baby, and NOT taking advantage of the situation for unnecessary charges and monetary gain. My pom/chi has been pretty sick the last 48 hrs. Constant vomiting every 3-5 mins and bloody diarrhea. I called her regular vet (who we have been clients with for 15+ years and 4 dogs) and they couldn't fit her in and to take her to the er vet. So I tried Mt Spokane Veterinary Hospital as soon as they opened and they told me to bring her right in and they would squeeze her into the schedule. Once we were there they took us directly into a room and drew her blood. Vet was in immediately after tests to let us know she has pancreatitis. She will be spending the evening with them for iv fluids and meds. I am so thankful to them for taking care of a new patient on a Saturday and being so caring. I will recommend them to all my pet parents and be transferring her file from the old vet! read more

The vet give us some noninvasive options for a bump on my dog's leg, instead of guilting us into hundreds of dollars worth of diagnostic tests (which two other vets did). If I could give 0 or even negative stars, I would. I brought in an exotic animal a short time ago and it was a difficult situation. The office did everything they could and we thought they were the nicest people in the world. They took care of us as best they could in a difficult situation and though the outcome was not good, we felt they did their best considering the circumstances. Well I called back today because I took in a dog a short time ago that has teeth issues that need to be taken care of. Well when I called, the lady that answered put me on hold and another gal came on to let me know that because of the situation with the last animal that they are no longer willing to see any of our pets. A situation they could not solve and was a first time case for all the vets they talked to and we are the ones penalized because they did not know what they were doing with the exotic I brought in. Ya that is great service. Not the first time I had talked to the first lady that answered the phone either and she was quite rude each time I had her on the phone. I will not be referring anyone there like I was doing after I thought we built a good rapport during a difficult time. read more
