This place has not changed much over the years that I've been coming here. With the exception of an additional chair, which added a nearly 450 acre expansion of terrain. What they have is a locals mountain, with a small town vibe, little if any crowds, and a little something for everyone. So it is not all bad (see rest of review) but they have GOT to figure out their ticketing situation for Holidays/beginning of the season. It is absolutely ridiculous that I waited in line for an hour and 10 minutes in order to get my RFID card for the ticket that I had already purchased online and uploaded a photo for. More staff, self check-in kiosks, there are many other ideas, but they've got to figure something out. I do not think that I will be coming next year. They do have some great beginner terrain. Marmot is a great lift for beginners (although the wait at that lift is a little painful, but maybe that's good for beginners that need a break?). Long easy flat groomed runs. They also have a nice long magic carpet with a real mellow slope for the very beginners. The new lift "grey butte" has some nice terrain off of it, and is not busy at all, but that's probably because it is quite literally a HIKE to get there. Like you have to take off your skis and hike, uphill, for at least 100 yards, and you are skating for much more before that. They also need to figure that out. Or maybe not and just make it the lift that is reserved for those that are dedicated and as a reward for your toiles you get no lift lines and some pretty nice terrain - I can see that argument. Not a ton of great terrain for experts. I've not experienced it myself, but I've heard parking can get really bad sometimes. I think if you come not during the holiday breaks it's probably pretty chill, but I'd steer clear during the holidays. Also, they charge for kids of all ages - come on guys, kids under 5 at the very least should be free. Help a parent out would you? read more

Great day skiing but everything is manual. I have to say, overall value is great. It's not a huge mountain but it has a lot of great runs. I could imagine a busy day could be brutal though. Our kids had a private lesson, they basically got snowboarding by lunch. Amazing. The backside was nice but it's a brutal walk in and out. The key to a good day is you can't be there just before lifts start, most everything is manual so you gotta be there at 8 if you need anything. Lift tickets, parking, lessons...etc. For lessons, call, get an idea of what they can accommodate. They'll be willing to work with you. Getting gear is slow, mostly because of manual processes. Food was pretty expensive, 14 dollar sandwich, so pack appropriately. read more

Prices are very reasonable and the grounds are kept very well They have multiple slopes from bunny to silver gold elite double black. There is no fancy lodge with fireplace to hangout, but they have a large facility that is basic with a cafeteria style window and pizza shop(sometimes closes) and a nice size bar with indoor and outdoor seating. They are not at the capacity to handle heavy days with lots of visitors in the food concessions areas. They have ample ski and snowboarding equipment and super helpful staff. The property is huge with a Nordic area, sno mobile routes and several ski lifts. read more

Visited for the first time on a lovely bluebird day. I like the vibe of this local, smallish resort (4 lifts). Views of the surrounding mountains were stunning! Single day lift tickets very reasonable compared to Tahoe resorts ($81 for a Saturday). Main downside for me was access to their new lift, Gray Butte. To get there, you either have to hike on a lengthy flat area (took me around 20-30 mins) or ski down an advanced area that was technically out of bounds. Very strange. Did they plan it like this? It is also the only 4-person lift, even though hardly anyone can get to it. I feel like they should make the skiable area in bounds or add in a t-bar or something. I visited with a couple beginner friends who had a great experience with their snowboard lessons. This is a great beginner resort-the beginner lift has a few different green runs and is pretty long. read more

We love this place and have been bringing our kids here to ski/snowboard for 3 years bcz we love Mt Shasta in general. But I do NOT recommend paying for a lesson here. Absolute waste of time! I could have absolutely done the exact same thing on the bunny slope all day by my self and saved so much money! My group lesson Saturday 3/1, was a major major disappointment. Im not someone who expects a handout ever. But I definitely felt taken advantage of this day. From the beginning it felt there was too many people for 2 instructors and a lot of us were on our own just figuring it out doing the same thing over and over, and over for 1.5 hrs. Then I was dinged for leaving the "lesson" 15 minutes early by Nicole. Even tho there is no water provided or water breaks offered thru out any of the lesson!? (We are not robots!) Which by the way, Nicole was super rude and defensive and non apologetic at any point even when she knew she was obviously majorly under staffed. 14 people in the am part of the lesson and 12 people from 1-3 part is not by any means a successful lesson to anyone anywhere. Nicole proceeded to tell me that if I just stood around until 3 I would get a voucher for another half lesson the next day? bcz we were obviously not making it to the lift that day, for obvious reasons! What if I can't afford to take another half day tho to stand around for a "lesson" bcz I have other responsibilities? I planned this trip plenty throughly already. Should I get penalized bcz you guys are under staffed ? Even tho I payed full price ?? DO BETTER for your loyal paying customers. read more

This ski park has gone down. The lines were long and when we went to get rentals they didn't have enough because the boots were broken. The ticketing was confusing. We drove 4 hours to snowboard and left empty handed. Our family will not go back! read more

Instead of spending money on putting new cushions on the chairlifts, training their staff how to manage lines, parking, and grooming or repaving the horrible road (among so many other improvements that need to be made), they spend passholder money building a giant statue that does nothing positive for the skiing experience except look ugly. It's a joke of a place, so much so we stopped buying passes there and it has been great not going and becoming absolutely infuriated every single time we try to have a nice day skiing. I am definitely not one for corporate take over of ski parks, but the family that runs this one should sell it to someone that knows how to run a ski park. It's a good thing most people in Siskiyou and Shasta county don't know any better..that ignorance keeps Mt. Shasta Ski Park in business. read more

I want to like this place so much as a cozy mountain resort. The lifts and runs are simple and fun. Well groomed runs are a plus. We've been several times but this year was different. At the end of the day we decided we would never come back. Bottom line the staff sucked. I'm not sure what was in the water, but everyone was rude and not very helpful. Not the experience we had pre-Covid. Something didn't seem right. My kids literally asked "why is everyone so angry today?" None of the staff seemed to want to answer simple questions like "where is the first aid station" bizarre Worst parking I've ever seen. It was like Armageddon. No organization and people pretty much left to parking where ever they want in the lower lots. No trash cans so people threw their trash everywhere. Gross. read more

As a regular season pass holder I am really disappointed in the park this year. Three times we've driven up only to sit at a dead stop hoping to get to the parking lot. No staff on the road to let us know what is happening, no updates on the website/ facebook or twitter. Can't imagine driving up from Redding or Red Bluff just to be turned away. We had a great weekend in the powder! This was our first trip here, from the Bay Area trying to avoid the crowds and high winds in Tahoe. Great choice! The staff was all friendly, the people are nice, great beer and food (amazing pizza!!). They only have a few lifts, but there aren't a thousand people like Tahoe resorts. It took us 4.5 hours each way, which is far, but I heard people spent 8 hours getting home from Tahoe in the recent storm. Glad we went north to check this place out! read more

Been skiing here for decades. Love this resort. Great groomed trails, not crowded, and reasonably priced. Perfect for skiers up to Advanced with some expert runs. Grey Butte - some pointers on the new lift. If you are an advanced or better skier it's MUCH better to ski off the back side of Coyote to the bottom of the Grey Butte lift. Otherwise it's a looong walk to the lift and the last part is up a steep hill. Hard to believe it was designed this way. IMHO they should cut a Cat Trail behind Coyote to make it easier to get to the lift. Either way, the only way back from the lift is a looong walk, but it's much easier than the hike in if you make the mistake I did and walk in. Grey Butte notwithstanding, I highly recommend this family friendly resort. read more

This was my first time in Mt Shasta Ski Park and it was a very fun and pleasant experience! 5 stars for the instructors and 3 stars for the office staff but because the instructors were so great, it overshadowed the bad experience with the office staff. Let me start off with the instructors, they are attentive, patient and caring. BIG SHOUTOUT to Joe and Andrew, best instructors ever. I have no experience in snowboarding and these two instructors really helped me build the confidence to transition from bunny slope to Marmot. Andrew taught me the important basic skills. Joe taught me additional skills and reimplemented all the other necessary basic skills that I needed to continue to practice on. I have taken one lesson in Tahoe several years ago and honestly, it was expensive and they only spent 2 hours and then left me to fend for myself. But not here, the instructors were so nice and even when they were not teaching, if they see me on the slopes and I'm doing something wrong, they'll just give me some pointers and that was enough for me to correct myself. The office staff wasn't very friendly. My friend and I signed up for the all/full day class. The class started at 10A but we came 5 minutes late so the office admin would not allow us to join the class. I get it, we were late, we were okay with missing the first couple of minutes of class but the admin was adamant about not letting us join period. My friend took lesson here before and the last time, she was here, she had to wait for the class to start and one of the instructors was late but of course it was all gravy when the instructor was late but when the customers are late just by a few minutes, we were not allowed to take the class. That was upsetting. We tried to reason with the front desk and told her that we are okay with missing 10-15 minutes of the beginning of the class and won't make the instructor hold back the class for us. We understood that it's our fault for being 5 minutes late but because we were stuck at the front desk trying to reason with the lady, it dragged it out to 15 minutes. Then she tried to say we were 15 minutes late. There was no way we could reason with her at that point so we opted for half day class but that was a BIG BUMMER. We paid for full day and only got half day class. At the end of the class, I was supposed to get a voucher and graduate to level 2 but because I couldn't attend full day's class, the front desk lady wouldn't honor it even though I paid for full day's class. If it wasn't for the negative front desk experience, I would've given this place 5 out of 5. read more

Wow, how fun. Mt Shasta is an all around family friendly park. There is tubing, smaller learning hills, and lifts for those more experienced. I did the full day snowboarding lesson with my bf. It included the lesson and rental gear: including snowboard,boots, and helmet. It also included the day use and marmont lift. What a deal! We started off learning the basics and ended on marmont. I had Joe and Dan as instructors. Both were fantastic, knowledgeable, and patient. I had some trouble coming down the hill and my instructor was super nice and helped me get comfortable with the technique, as well as being safe. The bar and food are cool too. I would definitely recommend this place. I can't wait to come back! Way better than the crowded parks for sure! read more

This review is for the tubing part of the park. The bottom line is the employees are incredibly rude and behave as if they do not want to be there. My partner lost grip of the string pull for the tube as he was sliding down the very short slope which prevented him from being able to slide down the entire slope. He then stood up, picked up the string, and pulled the tube to the end to get out of the way for the next rider. This seems like the appropriate thing to do. Instead of assisting or asking if he needed any assistance, the employee proceeded to laugh at, make jokes about, and try to embarrass my partner calling him a "newb." Are you effing kidding me? This is completely uncalled for and anyone that has ever worn snow gloves knows how hard it is to grip onto ANYTHING. Our friends had asked about taking their four year old son up to slide down the slope (the requirement is five years old) and instead of just saying no, the employee responded in a rude and condescending manner. Seriously man, gtfo yourself. If you don't want to work there, then don't. Don't ruin the fun for everyone else. Overall, the actual tubing part was fun, but rude employees left such a sour taste. Do not recommend. Note to management: stop hiring jerks. read more

Recommend this park. Took the lift UP (what? No climbing?) and rode DOWN! Great trails. Crashed right off the get go on my first run, HOWEVER it was a learning experience. Sand Speaking of dry conditions... and that soft volcanic dirt/sand.... They turned on the water to wet down the trails several times while we were there, and it was great. Super helpful. (I felt like I was a little kid in a mountain bike splash park for a second, never laughed so hard riding down that trail). Flow trail it was. Wear eye protection from dirt, sand, or whatever. Hands down, the best was Bridge trail. So challenging (for me) but not too difficult. Just right. Met the manager, Jim. Super nice gentleman. Excited to come back again in the future! read more

This place was amazing. If you are RV camping, you can stay there for free. You just need to contact the main office. My son has autism and the manager Nicole was amazing. They provide adaptive lessons for those with special needs. Jeremiah was the ski instructor for my three kids and they were going down the slopes by themselves by the end of the day. The staff was very kind. It is a great location for advanced and beginners skiers. There is also a tubing hill just outside the park that is free. read more

We have skied and snowboarded from Lake Tahoe resorts to Park City and many other locations and this place is 1st rate. What makes it so amazing is the following 1) No lines- we went presidents day weekend and it was calm and peaceful. Sometimes we were the only ones on the runs 2) Its small and cozy. Just a 3 min walk from parking to the lifts. Only 1 hr from Redding. 3) Most of all, the staff are phenomenal. The instructors are phenomenal. We had a lesson with Crissy and Natalie under their adaptive program, and our kids loved them! They were not only technically gifted in terms of teaching, but also kind and compassionate. They really made our kids; day! Further, the management team was amazing! We were also floored by their outstanding customer service- specifically Nicole and Fred. They went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful experience. We are so grateful we discovered Mt. Shasta and we will definitely be back! read more

Bad experience. Customer service was horrible, I think the kids name was miles or something. Whoever he is should be booted immediately. The food came out cold and my chicken tasted like fish. I saw miles throw bagels and other assortments of food around like people weren't going to be eating it. No one in the food industry should be treating food like that. Not to mention he ALSO didn't put fish on mine FISH TACO and then refused to remake it. The ski park really needs to pay attention to what their workers do. It just seems very disorganized. If anyone asks me about the mt shasta ski park, I'm going to tell them to go to the one in Ashland because that one actually has good food and good customer service. Great park especially for beginners, it's very family friendly . Small and not extremely packed it was just enough people. Gave it four stars because the instructors sped through the classes way to fast after being 1/2 late. They seem to follow the "let's move on quickly" motto. A tad bit on the pricey side especially for the food. Always suggest to bring your own food, the prices of a cup of chili was $9 and a water was $3. I will visit again but I don't think I will be getting lessons again. It's really too bad because it would of been enjoyable if they helped more and chatted to each other less. read more

This place is ideal to stay away from the bigger crowd. Since Tahoe gets insanely crowded on some weekends and this ski place has many slope choices equally as Tahoe. The lift tickets prices are lesser than Tahoe $70, that's another plus to this skiing place. Downsides: The helmets are dated, They do not rent the hand gloves, the place next do not provide good quality hand gloves for the price asking for. The staff does not help you with the ski gear if you are a first-timer. If you have a unique foot size and the shoe does not work for the first time, you need to stand in the line to go exchange for another shoe. That's another waste of time. It gets crowded between 11 AM and 3 PM but the rest of the hour's nice slopes and longer trails and can have a good day in the snow. They do not do any family package rental or group membership for more than 4. I wish they add this on the weekends for larger groups. If its sunny day, you will be able to see great sunset or sunrise up in the mountain. read more

We prepaid for our tickets as that's the Rule you need to buy 48hrs in advance. When we arrived the only road up was not maintained and cars were sliding all over the place. We sat stuck for a while then cars began turning around. We called the park and they said the parking was full. So my main disappointment is... why sell more tickets than parking allows? We drove 5hrs to meet with friends there. We did get a refund but is that enough for me to go back? Probably not. I had one kid that got in with his friends and one with me that had to turn around. We have been skiing this mountain since we were kids, taught our kids to ski & board there and now our kids are adults. We are looking forward to teaching their little ones in the future :) Everyone that works there goes above and beyond when it comes to customer service! We stayed in McCloud Easter weekend at a friends cabin. On Saturday we went to Mt. Shasta Ski Park just to check it out. Our daughter, Annie, is in a wheelchair and we knew the adaptive ski program was not open. We were hanging out after buying some gear. A man named Tim comes up to us and says he runs the adaptive ski program. Tells us about it. We said we will come back next year. Several minutes later he comes back and said he brought the equipment out and that Natalie and Fred would take Annie on a run. Annie got all suited up but was scared. Natalie took her aside and talked to her. Next thing you know they were all on the chairlift. Annie loved it so much. Thank you Tim, Natalie and Fred for such an awesome experience for Annie. They made our trip ! Will be back next year !! read more

Mount Shasta Ski Park is where I first taught my son to Ski. It was also enough to convince him that he wasn't a nature boy. The rest of the Family had a great time, as there's plenty of easy and intermediate terrain, friendly folks, and an uncrowded and laid back atmosphere. It's not a very large ski hill and with only a vertical drop of 1390 feet and 3 Triple Chairs. But it's a beautiful location and your whole skiing, lesson, and lodging plans are a lot cheaper than Tahoe. The Ski Park was the second ski area constructed on Mount Shasta, but the only one which now survives. The old Mount Shasta Ski Bowl had been built in 1958 in a huge open cirque much higher up on the southern flank of the volcano, with a lodge at 7,800 ft and lifts topping out above timberline at 9,200 ft. However, the ski area had often been in financial trouble and a massive avalanche in January 1978 which destroyed the main chairlift was the finishing blow. The Ski Bowl closed permanently after that. read more

Review for the tubing park only. The slides for the tubing were so flat and slow that any kids over 5/6 would be bored, however the minimum age is 5. I bought tickets for my husband and our 5 and 8 yr olds 48 hrs in advanced as is there policy and it was a waste of time and $55. Aside from the slides being far less fun than the free hill across the road, all 3 of the operators were complete jerks to us and everyone else there that day. I had my 2yr old to watch and had brought a saucer to play with her on the sidelines, but nope, no outside equipment allowed. So I just pushed her around on one of the extra tubes on the flat area, nope not allowed. Another family's small kids were having troubles on the conveyer belt walkway so the dad went to help them, nope he had to buy a ticket if he wanted to help. Some other kids took 5 seconds too long getting up and the operators were yelling rudely even with no other kids waiting to go down. The slide needs to be far steeper but if that doesn't ruin your time, the operators will. read more

Take it for what it is, a small park. Compare it against a world class resort and it will lose every day. It is a place to learn, take kids and hang out with friends. Great staff and varied lower end terrain. The mountain is accessible and more reasonably priced than Tahoe or Mammoth. This is where I love to bond with my family! read more

Went up in February after buying tickets online and once we get there we are told by staff at the entrance there was an accident and parking lot would be closed for several hours. Then they refused to reschedule or refund tickets only thing they would do is say they had night skiing. read more

We came, we boarded, and we had a great time. It's not pretentious, pushy, or intimidating in any way. I'm big on the personal experience pretty much everywhere I go so I'm in love with this place after one weekend. We were there over Valentines Day weekend last week. The place was packed, crowded, flowing and bustling with families eager to hit the slopes. The crowd was thick at the rental and lesson lines. I can't report on that as I own my gear and as a rule never rent on sight because it can kick the day off in a not so easy going way no matter where you are. We were, however, able to breezily cruise up to the ticket window and make our purchase with no problems. The ticket person answered questions and helped us figure out our best bang for our hard earned bucks. It was off to the bunny slope for some tutorials and a personal one on one lesson. EASY GOING and FRIENDLY should be the employees working the magic carpets names. There was no problem with walking up the bunny hill to learn to walk with a board and not an eyelash batted when we went up the carpet with just one board explaining our "lesson". They are very safe and encouraging towards all guests. Witnessing some of the lessons on the bunny hill gave us a good idea that the instructors are very knowledgable and positive as well. It's a small resort so you get small town service and a more personal experience. Keep in mind this is not a large Olympic type of park like you find in Tahoe. The lodge more than does the job with ample seating, a variety of food choices (the burrito was quite tasty), a small bar for the grown ups, and a short walk from parking to ski and vise versa. The price is right! Food and drink are reasonably priced as are locker rentals (.50/day). We opted for a two day all day pass which was about $54/day. It worked out great. We kept hearing from employees that it was busier than it had been on Christmas ....which is BUSY! Saturday the lines were long but moved quickly and Sunday we heard the lessons sold out around 11am. I removed a star and I wish it could be a half a star for an encounter with an employee. While taking a nacho and water break outside of the lodge I was subject to a very unprofessional conversation. An employee took her break and hopped on the phone to fire another employee for not showing up. It was uncomfortable to say the least and I thought distasteful. I also can appreciate the parking people's frustrations etc but hey if drivers are going too fast or ignoring you then take steps to fix the problem. Wear some bright vests so you're visible, rope areas off, or have a booth or something where drivers have to stop before entering the parking lot. Yelling at people and acting all pouty isn't going to solve your problems. I will go back hopefully for years to come. The snow is great this year so I really want to see this place profit and keep on doing their thing. Crossing my fingers for more white stuff this year and years to come! read more
