We just bought a house in Mountain View, and this is our first time owning a house. I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into when I decided to do a remodel. In fact, my husband and I were very naive with our expectations on how much we can accomplish. We interviewed a few different cabinet shops and decided to go w/ MT Kitchen Cabinets because Eric and his team were very professional and guided us through every step along the way. He got us the contractor, told us where to go for tiles, granite. And he would give us good/better/best places to choose from. Overall, we found that Eric is a very reliable person and he didn't try to up sell us anything, and his prices were definitely fair. At first, I really liked his white, inset cabinet display by Plato Cabinet, but that was out of our budget. So we ended up with his KraftMaid Maple Cabinet line for our vanity cabinet. When they made the delivery, I was delighted to see the quality of our bathroom cabinets were exactly like the ones that he displayed in his showroom. His contractor, Raymond was also very helpful in helping us with completing our project and doing the misc stuff that came up around the house. After hearing my coworkers' nightmares, and after my own remodel, I'd definitely recommend you use a designer/contractor team that work together before, because they really helped us think of a lot of the stuff that we didn't anticipate. As a first timer, I could not be happier with my choice to use MT Kitchen Cabinets for my kitchen remodel. I'm used to having my guard up with sales people, but Eric made it really easy for me to ask questions and he was fantastic with followup. Even before I had committed to the project, he was prompt with following up and always did what he promised he would do. (I visited 4-5 other places 3 of which either never completed the initial quote or just never followed up with me). As for the quality of the wood (I chose the Solerra custom cabinetry line), I can't say enough. About a week after my kitchen was completed, my condo had flooding and there was a 1/2 inch of water everywhere :( Amazingly, the cabinets were all that survived without damage. The solid wood did not buckle or splinter at all (as did my parquet floors and baseboards). The cheaper cabinets I had been considering prior (made across the ocean) would have been ruined. Anyway - a huge testament to the quality of the cabinets. I will definitely using Eric/MTKC for my next project! read more

Our kitchen remodel had been planned for YEARS and we shopped at many, many remodeling places. After reading the positive reviews on MTKC two years ago, we decided to meet with them. Eric was very professional, obviously knows his business and products. MTKC came to our house, took measurements and then submitted a drawing and different cost options. While we ended up delaying our remodel, we knew that we would most likely go back to MTKC. Late last year we decided the time was right. I hate to admit this, BUT instead of going back to MTKC, we went to HD to see what kind of pricing we could get. The brands were the same as other kitchen places, so how bad can it be, right??? WRONG. It was obvious from the beginning that we were NOT going to received the same level of services as MTKC, we did not get a feeling that the sales person knew what they were talking about - they did the plans without ever coming to our house to measure and in fact told us that unless we used their contractors, any mistakes were on us. After getting a quote we went home and kept thinking about our prior dealings with MTKC and while the cost was a bit more, we felt that was worth it to have piece of mind so called MTKC back. Eric remembered us, still had the plans from the previous year, and immediately came back to review some modifications we wanted to make. All of our dealings with Eric were top notch, he was always available, and wanted to make sure all went right. Our house is old and there were a few surprises along the way that were not known until the walls and ceiling were down, however, MTKC was VERY willing to come over and work it out with our contractor, a contractor who is.....wellllll.... a bit eccentric =) BUT Eric dealt with it in a professional manner (Don't get me wrong, we LOVE our contractor and will use him again, but he can be challenging to others when dealing on behalf of his clients =). In reality the cost was not that much more than HD, when you are talking about purchasing cabinets which cost $10k+, you want to be sure you are dealing with a qualified team. We will definitely use MTKC again, we are pleased with our decision to go with them, they did end up SAVEing us money from the HD route as the drawings completed by HD had errors. read more

MT Kitchen offers nice cabinets and I was very happy with the quality of the Sollera brand cabinets that was installed in my new kitchen. However, I think what really sets apart MT Kitchen and other kitchen cabinets places is ERIC AU, the owner of MT Kitchen. These are the reasons: 1) EXCELLENT DESIGN SERVICES - Eric and his father went step by step to walk me through the design of the cabinets to ensure a well laid out, functional yet aesthetically pleasing design. Eric made all his ideas easy to understand by keeping a large collection of photos. Whenever I didn't understand a particular design, he would pull up a photo from his library and show me to clarify. I told him I wanted the biggest island I could possible have in the space provided. As he designed the island, he warned me about the sizes of granites and quartz and the fact that ceasarstone quartz did not necessarily come in that size. I originally did want quartz so I was glad he warned me. As he designed the cabinet around the fridge, we discussed whether I was ok with the fridge door sticking outside of the cabinet or having the fridge door inset into the cabinet. There are a lot of little things people don't normally think about but Eric was really good about communicating them to make sure we built the cabinets that we wanted. Because of his experience, he was able to come up with different recommendations to make our dream kitchen possible. 2) METICULOUS DETAIL AND COMMUNICATION - Going through the kitchen remodel really helped me understand the intricacies of putting together the cabinets. I really wanted to have 4 ft walkways around my kitchen island and that required very precise measurements. Eric insisted on doing a walkthrough with our general contractor before the ordering of our cabinets to make sure all the measurements were exact. At first I thought it was just CYA for him but I am so glad we went through that process and everyone was clear what exactly needed to be done and where things were to be placed. It's the reason we got custom cabinetry. It's the reason why everything looks precise now. 3) UNSURPASSED POST-DELIVERY SERVICE - I have to say this is the one that really blew me away. Throughout my house remodel and I've dealt with a lot of vendors. Many times, once you pay them the final payment, you never hear from them again. Eric was excellent in making sure that the delivery and installation went smoothly. The outsourced freight company actually dropped one of the cabinets and dinged up a corner of one of our cabinets. Eric went out of his way to make sure that the problem was resolved and that we were happy with the final cabinet. After moving into our house for 2 weeks, we realized that we were missing 2 littles spokes for the shelves. Eric, personally dropped off the items (I assume he was already in the area). Eric is amazing. My fiance and I just purchased a place and need to basically gut renovate it. We used Eric to completely redo the kitchen, bathroom, and media cabinetry. Eric helped us come up with THE design. We spent 30 minutes with him in his office and he came up with an excellent design. It was well beyond anything we were considering, and that's exactly what we wanted. He pushed our thinking and came up with a much more modern, open layout for our kitchen and master bath. Eric's design also included some pretty "radical" things, like moving walls and recessing load-bearing beams into our ceiling. We loved these ideas! It really opened up the place and, once the architect signed off on it, we were able to take our place from the 1970s to the 2010s easily. Eric also helped us come up with a completely cool, custom cabinet for our media room. This included a design that has two, recessed Middle Atlantic A/V racks. It helps power an whole-home audio system with speakers built into the ceiling of each room. Very cool stuff! In addition to the design, Eric was also extremely helpful in connecting us with resources for the entire project. He recommended a contractor, a tilie/stone place, plumbing and faucets, appliances, etc. We trusted him and used virtually everyone one of his recommendations. Renovating a house requires making THOUSANDS of little decisions and Eric patiently helped us through as many as he could. He was not afraid to give us his opinion and helped steer us away from several (in retrospect) bad ideas. I would definitely use Eric again without hesitation. He's responsive, easy to do business with, accommodating, and personable. We must have exchanged upwards of 30 emails a day with him during the intense design period and he was always courteous and helpful. I just finished my kitchen remodeling mid of July this year and my kitchen is beautiful now. I bought my cabinets from MTKC and was very happy about their services. When I saw the good reviewed from Yelp I thought it's worthy to try contacting them. After I contacted Eric who was really responsive and always return my email promptly. So I started to work with Eric from Kitchen design. I have my original kitchen design draft a year ago from an interior designer who suggest to knock off the wall between dining room and existing kitchen. I later decided not to knock off the wall so I need to rearrange current kitchen design especially cabinets. Due to the limited space and I wanted a bigger peninsula island, so the draft took some challenge to get the best result. Eric was really patient to draw 3 designs for me (When I asked the 3rd draft he asked $1000 deposit to against future payment, and I thought it's fair and paid) For me the design is one of the most important things when you doing remodeling; you have to have a good plan before you can executed. A lot of cabinet companies they will only do a basic draft for you which is not enough. Also Eric's father is a cabinet design veteran who gave a lot of valuable input when I signed contract to use their services. Following I will rate MTKC services by 3 components: 1) Services - 5+ stars, Eric's services, follow up, and communicating with some other vendors are excellent. You can feel he is a very responsible person and he cares about your kitchen. 2) Quality - 5 stars, the cabinets are very good quality 3) Value - 4.5 stars, my final quotes is $4K more than my original quote, but I did add more cabinets, so the price is fair. But I also know that I probably can get similar quality at cheaper price. Overall I will give 5 stars to MTKC considering services/quality/value. We found Eric and MTKC through yelp when we remodeled our kitchen earlier this year. Eric came out to our house with a contractor that he recommended (Glibert Lam of GLC Construction) took measurements, did the drawings and gave us a quote. We were comparing between semi-custom and custom cabinetry, and while I think that custom cabinetry would have given us slightly better cabinets, we couldn't justify the cost for our little home. We went with the Sollera line of cabinets from Eric and are very happy with them. Very solid, well made cabinets. Love the fact that they are frameless. Eric was very responsive and made sure we were happy with our cabinets when they arrived. He even reordered a new shelf for us because there was a mark on the shelf that I didn't like. The only problems we had with the cabinets was that we ran out of trim and there is a gap between the paneling on the side of one cabinet and the floor. This however was due to the fact that we had some problems with the floor on our house, and not a mistake by MTKC. We've had our new kitchen for almost 6 months now, and with 2 kids under age 2, still no scratches or dents.... Yeah! Will use them again when it's time to do the bathrooms... read more

I heavily researched cabinets for our kitchen prior to choosing MTKC. Although their shop was far from our house, I went with them based on Yelp ratings. Eric was professional, skilled, and customer oriented. I highly recommend them. Eric also provided me with contacts for my kitchen remodel, attic music room build (above the kitchen), and the counter stone supplier. He was interested in their workmanship, efficiency, and project management. When things slowed down due to a log jam at the stone supplier he jumped in broke the issue loose. The contractor he recommended was excellent in quality, cost, and flexibility. {MC General - Michael Leung & Ivan Mak). In many ways Eric acted as a general contractor for many aspects of my job.
