Cheap, old school fun. My wife and I pass on first run movies to watch them here instead. I wish there were more places like this.

Tonight was my first time attending a movie here. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone I encountered seemed appreciative of my business. My husband and I took our 3 kids to see Brave for my daughters third birthday and the kids loved it. With tickets being so inexpensive, it wasn't a big deal making the few trips to the restroom with kids. Snacks were a good too!!!! Great evening. read more

Doesnt it suck when you have to pay almost 10 bucks just to watch a movie. I hate it and i think its a ripp-off... The mt hood theatre has movies that just came out of theathers and are in the process of going on dvd. For 4 dollars you can watch both movies that are playing that day on a huge screen. i think its even bigger then the regular cinemas screens. The cool part is their snacks are also much cheaper, and it never too crowded. This place makes for a great movie night... read more

Mt. Hood Theatre is great for family or date nights. It is a small theatre, but kept clean and tidy. It is very kid friendly. It doesn't show new releases, but the movies shown are usually of interest. read more

Love this place! $4 double features

Love taking the boys here, you can't beat the price even for the concessions. I can buy 3 tickets, popcorn and pop for less than half what I would pay at another theater. The screen and sound are amazing! read more

FaB-o reminds me of Old School theatres' in San Diego in the 6O's. Great sound We could hear arrows wizzing by my ears. We sat in the BALCONY which made so special. Madison the Mgt. person was just darling. We will shoot $2 entry per person tab weekly as our special treat. Also great deals on snacks. My first seat had a spring that sprung, no worries...made us laugh. The film "Exodus" was really well Done. i've been going here my whole life and the place only gets better. the only issue i ever had with the place was that it got too hot in the summer, but they fixed that by installing air conditioning a few years back. i'd recommend this place over any chain theatre if you are willing to wait for the movies to come here later. read more

I love this place. Two movies for four dollars, and a wonderful staff, along with reasonably prices delicious hotdogs is a winning combination. I definitely recommend this for people looking for a cheap fun way to spend four or five hours, and its a great family activity. read more

Cheap movies, big theatre...old school feel. Fun date night or take the kids to a matinee!

we are friends with the owner and love his theater. he's put in a killer sound system, makes fresh popcorn and even has frozen candy upon request. I would have given 5 stars however, he recently told us that there were no more double features allowed which took the wind out of our sails., that was a huge draw for us and i find myself looking elsewhere for double features. We were told that the film industry told him to stop double features however i have tried to research that online and have found nothing to date. Our family are serious movie fans and always stay and watch the credits while everyone else jumps ship. We want to know who produced, directed, who did voices in animation, etc...we are film nerds but this double feature ban just sticks in my craw and frankly upsets me because i do not believe it is true. anyway, the Mt. Hood participates in local fund raisers for the schools and if you get a ticket, it gets you into like 10 movies, a child with up to two parents or grandparents and that one ticket only cost us $8.00 per child. on those matinee movies, the theater is only really making money on the concession so we make sure to buy stuff there so we can be supportive. those movies are kids matinees so not for everyone but we enjoy most of what they offer and still love other aspects of the theater like the coffee bar and some of the seats, in the lower section of the sloped floor are the most comfortable and support my neck if I slump down in them. still i do recommend the Mt. Hood., just do not expect to stay for a double feature, you will need to pay twice for that. read more

I would give this theater a 5 EXCEPT for the parking. The theater is clean, the prices are no doubt the best for the treats and the flick but the parking is so terrible I an willing to a. Rent the movie that is now available through Netflix or Amazon or b. See the movie for full price in the theater. If you are going to see something during a showing that anyone else wants to see you better plan on stressing out because you can't find a park and just missed the beginning of the movie. They used to have parking behind the theater but for some reason it is blocked off and (I'm sure for good reason) the business around them stalk their own parking lots "reminding" you they will be happy to tow you if you park in there lot. We have been going to Hood Theatre about seven years: If you are looking for the best bang for the buck when it comes to having a great time with the kids or even a little time away from the kids with the wife or husband then you should check out this theatre. A trip to Mt Hood Theater is like being transported back through time to small-time USA.... A timeless classic that is hidden in plain sight in downtown Gresham, Mt Hood Theater is a little gem that is definitely worthy of your patronage: The staff is friendly and pleasant; The prices are extremely affordable; The seats are old, but comfortable enough for a double-feature; The sound is good; and The popcorn is excellent!! I bring my child from school on early-release days. Price for the school discount movie pass is $7 for 10 features, which admits 1 child and up to 2 adults (parents or grandparents) per pass. This works out to: $0.35 per movie for one child and one adult, and $0.23 for one child and two adults. Who could say no to such an offer? The theater must make their money in the concessions, which we gladly patronize! because even there, their prices are nostalgic. In fact, their regular prices are a steal at $4/adult and $3 kids 3+ for a DOUBLE FEATURE! And we have even indulged in those. Mt Hood Theater is definitely the best deal in town, and esp. fun and affordable on those all-to-often rainy Oregon afternoons! My only caveat to you is make sure you have all your personal belongings with you before leaving as no one EVER answers their phone and you can't leave a message so the only way you can find out if they are holding your things is to return. Of course, you can always make an afternoon of that, too... stay for the movie and the popcorn. ;-D read more

Mt. Hood Theatre is what has kicked off a fun weekend treat for my husband and me. After passing it on Powell on our way back from a friend's house we noticed that they were showing Robin Hood, a movie that my husband had wanted to catch at the larger theater, but ended up missing. So we made it a date night that weekend and decided to be adventurous and we weren't disappointed. We were greeted by a friendly employee at the front who requested that if we paid with a card then to include the popcorn and drink into one transaction to alleviate their transaction fees. We were glad to help out this local business and were happy to comply because the tickets and snacks were so affordable! Because there is only 1 theater, we passed the time in the tiny coffee shop which served pretty good italian sodas (but were told that we could even sit in any of the available seats in the theater to watch the rest of the movie that was playing). This theater is definitely not super high-tech like Cinetopia and the red lights in the theater are a little odd, but you definitely get the bang for your buck. The surrounding Gresham area is pretty quaint as well and I'm looking forward to checking it out next time my husband and I are in the mood for a movie. read more

Wonderful theater at a GREAT price! Almost all of their movies are double features, so two movies for the price of one! $4 for adults (12 yrs +) and $3 for kids, and children under 3 years are free! They have a wonderful DATE NIGHT DEAL, which is always available, two large drinks, a large refillable popcorn and a candy for only $11. So you can have two adults, and a date night deal for less than TWENTY DOLLARS!!! PERFECT date night place :) Their sound system is new, and is incredible, also only has a few previews before the show, which is great. Not 15minutes of crap. Cameo Coffee- their little cafe is also delish! The baristas are always friendly, and ready to help. For all the cheap and affordable prices, you get a wonderful experience. During the fall and the spring they also have a matinee program- 10 movies for $7. and each ticket gains entry for one child and two parents or grandparents! Local elementary schools sell the tickets and a percentage of the profit goes back to the school!! Overall this is a wonderful family run theater,=. Great place to take the kids! You get two movies for the price of one and you are not overwhelmed by all of the very expensive candy/ popcorn options once you get there. The only reason they get 4 stars and not five is because the bathrooms are two small for the size of theater, and because there is no cup holders on the seats. While the theatre isn't super nice and the movies aren't brand spanking new, the staff is friendly and it makes for a cheap date night. Such friendly service by everyone who works there! Only thing is that they should probably consider changing the seat fabric. it's really smelly and the last time, I had to leave to go to the restroom half way through the movie to check what was itching my legs so much, when I checked I had flea bites all over my legs. read more
