we went for happy hour. we called to confirm the hours and the lady confirmed it was 2-5. we got there before 4. took 30 minutes for the order to arrive. We ordered through the website, but the order apparently gets processed by Beyond Menu. The order is then faxed to the restaurant. Fax?? What year is this? Anyway, the confirmation said the order would be ready at 5:16. I arrived a few minutes early and gave my name. The hostess said it would be out soon. I asked again at 5:30. She said it wouldn't be long. I asked again at 5:45. This time she asked for my confirmation number. Then they realized they never received the fax, so they never put the order in. They made my food right then. As I was leaving, they said the fax came in at 5:54. They admitted they've had issues with the vendor. I realize this is a technical issue, but could have been handled so much better by the restaurant. Since they know they have issues with the vendor faxing, they should have confirmed the order had been placed before making me wait so long!! read more

Can I post zero stars? We had a 730 reservation for Hibachi. We were on time and ended up behind a line of folks checking in. The wait was over an hour on a Friday, so we said to ourselves "good thing we have reservations"! Well.....guess what! It didn't freaking matter. After telling her my name the hostess gave me a very blank stare. I told her my name again and she wrote my name party size down. She then just left. Oooook, not off to the best start. So we waited for her to come back. And waited. And waited. She came back and I reminded her we had reservations. She said she knew and proceeded to seat a party of 3. We continued to wait. And wait. And wait. We have reservations mind you. Another hostess comes to the stand and tells me we were up next. So we waited. And waited. And waited. There was another party celebrating a birthday next to us that also had a 730 reservation. They waited. And waited. And waited. Nothing happened. No apologies, no communication at all. Finally, after 35 minutes I have had it. We are hangry and still waiting. I went back to the hostess when she finally returned (no update) and told her we were done. Cancel it. Told her to get the manager. She didn't. Instead she told me that "we were up next!". Well we were up next for 35 minutes...doubt that was about to change. As such, we left hungry and pissed off. Not how you want to have your Friday night go. I started thinking though - they clearly can't run a reservation system nor know enough to demonstrate even basic customer service. What else don't they know? Maybe the chicken is stored next to the dog poop? Maybe the employees pick their nose and cook without washing? Food was unfortunately disappointing. Starting with the rice and noodles, both were done for too long on the grill and ended up being crunchy. Next with the chicken, it was unseasoned and questionably cooked at the right temperature as the chef was checking the temp in the middle of serving it to customers. Mt. Fuji has a fun, family atmosphere. The staff are really good at managing the hibachi seating area. We had a fabulous time and the food is delicious! Everything was cooked as ordered. Took the family with a 2 year old and had a good time, chefs are funny and keep the granddaughter busy. The wagyu steak was excellent and The scallops were fresh and cooked perfect. My wife ordered squid which is something you don't find often and she loved it. Reason for 4 stars and not 5, place is a little tight and starting to show some age, but clean and well run. Prices are high but we found them worth it with the wagu steak. Will be going back monthly. read more

Mt Fuji Hibachi and Sushi Bar - Buyer Beware I contracted COVID-19 on Christmas Eve at this restaurant. We booked a 7 pm reservation, and upon arriving, the restaurant was packed. The waiting area is basically an 8X8 space with 20-40 people packed like sardines. Of the 40 people waiting for tables, only 8 were masked. Then after 45 minutes of waiting for a table, even though we had a reservation, we were sat at the only table open. Unfortunately for me, they sat me in a position where every person who came and went from the restaurant had to pass by me, kicking my chair every time. I never witnessed one employee do a single thing to try and mitigate these risks. In my humble opinion, this is a terrible oversight by the ownership. This restaurant is so tiny that its layout is designed to maximize occupancy without regard for public safety. Unfortunately, it is such as easy thing to overcome. With today's technology could quickly implement a pager system like many other restaurants in our area. That way, you could wait in your vehicle or outside the restaurant until your table was ready. Alternatively, they could simply "recommend" to their patrons that they wear masks while waiting because the space is too small and poorly ventilated to be conducive to congregating in this waiting area. I suggest you use extreme caution patronizing this establishment or seek hibachis in another community. They only have 3 likes on their Facebook page. That should have been a red flag. read more

I ordered some carry out from here the other night. I liked the way the food was packed but it lacked in flavor for my liking. I ordered 2 combo hibachi entrees and a shrimp fried rice. The chicken was bland and the shrimp were kind of mushy. I don't usually eat Hibachi to go but I was jonesing and with Covid I didn't even attempt to eat in. So that's the only reason for the 2 stars. The vegetables were very fresh and the fried rice was decent. I ended up not eating the chicken and just mixed the veggies with the rice. It's super sad these Hibachi places are going downhill! The chefs are still super funny and engaging. They need better opportunities in places that are thriving. That is why families like to go & bring their kiddos, especially. However it was a huge disappointment. The food was not evenly distributed amongst the guests in our party. The chef was not that entertaining. It was so noisy that we could hardly visit, even with the person sitting next us. He had most of the flipping tricks down, but he didn't know how to cook. In our group we ordered different combinations of chicken, steak, shrimp and salmon. Our chef put on the shrimp and salmon first and while those were cooking added the chicken and steak. By the time he took off the shrimp and salmon they were both SO overcooked they were nearly inedible. Others in our group said the chicken and steak were pretty good. Even though our server asked how everyone wanted their steak cooked, it was all the same. After we had eaten half our meal our chef passed out dipping sauces. I'm pretty sure that should have been served first so we could have used them with the first half of our meal. Also, the fried rice and noodles were very salty. Sad to leave this review but super disappointed in our experience this evening. Ordered the combo steak and chicken for my husband and I and then the kids chicken for my daughter. The chicken tasted HARD and under cooked. I politely and quietly let the wait staff know and then the other woman at our table with her 3 sons said their chicken was the same. Our bill came out over $58 and the manager gave us a discount of $10. We asked for additional since my daughter's entire meal was chicken and half of our adult entree was. They gave an extra $4. The manager then told me that if we got sick to give her a call so she can complain to the distributor. Praying we didn't just pay $50 (with tip) so we can be hanging over the porcelain bowl tonight. Fun and exciting way to eat and celebrate weekend. I did not expect this since the hibachi tables are in the back. The chefs and waiting staff are very helpful and entertaining. I ordered steak and chicken hibachi. It includes salad and soup as openers and steam rice, fried noodle, grilled veggies and of course the exciting tepanyaki cooking show. Get the fried rice for and extra three dollars , it is really good. For a great experience get the fillet and lobster for about 35$. I think it is a great value. We order/ordered from here every other week. We get the same thing filet and shrimp combo & filet and lobster with squid salad and an order of fried rice. It cost us for 2 ppl almost $100 to order that. I always ask to not over cook the seafood b/c the first time we got it the seafood was overcooked. The last 4 times it has been great. We ordered it again on Friday and the lobster was burnt it was so over cooked and the shrimp was so tough both were not edible. The squid salad was not as it usually was and was tough also, unedible. I called to ask that the seafood and salad be refunded. They told me that they couldn't because of COVID. They said they had to overcook the food due to COVID restrictions. Which is total bs and completely untrue. My family owns a restaurant in Chicago. They said they would give me 20% off which only covered the salad and the shrimp. I had received a $25 off coupon to Mt. Fuji and upon looking up reviews on google.com was a bit skeptical... people were not saying good things... :/ But I'm so glad I didn't pay attention to them! Hands down THE BEST sushi experience I've ever had! My mother, sister and I were greeted promptly and sat at a booth. We ordered drinks immediately and they were brought to the table within a few minutes, as well as a couple of apps (seaweed salad and miso soup) which were also brought very quickly and tasted delicious! Each of us requested a couple of different sushi rolls and the lot of them were presented to us on this beautiful wooden boat serving platter with fresh flowers - it was gorgeous! The flavors and quality of the variety of fish was phenomenal. Very pleased. But best of all, was the service. Our waiter's name was David, and he was an absolute delight. He was attentive, genuine and took excellent care of us. To say he went above and beyond would be an understatement. We loved him and we loved the food. So So EXPERIENCE. Not bad but not great either. The food was average and the overall ambience was nothing to brag about. We did the hibachi thinking that it would be a lot of fun and tasty as well. The hibachi chef was really nice and gave it a great effort. Unfortunately, we could tell that the hibachi chef needed to get to other tables. The portions were a little smaller than the typical hibachi and it appeared to me that everything was being used a little bit sparingly. We were given rice in a very small bowl that was not large enough to compliment the meal. Spending around $30 per plate for hibachi, I would typically expect a fairly decent experience.
