What I saw was a well rehearsed routine of preparing and seeding the lawn area. The crew knew what to do and how to do it. I received instructions how to deal with the watering in a timely manner and when to mow the grass. I had two rain trains that worked on their own after being set up . My only problem was the excess leaves I had to move in order for the lawn to grow. Got it done and a few people in the neighborhood have complimented the lawn and it's bright color. I've been a loyal customer with MRW lawns for many years now with having them to service both of my homes. I just recently decided to cancel my services with them for reasons of feeling that they no longer value me as a loyal customer. The biggest issue that made me make the final decision was that I spent money on getting my back yard aerated but it was done too late in the season and not properly done. I questioned this numerous times as to is this going to work while the time for aerating has passed. I was assured from MRW that it should still work. I was scheduled, then rescheduled twice. They finally came out late evening without enough top soil and supplies to complete my yard. The supervisor of the aeration team was the only English speaking person, he then told me they have to reschedule me but did it with an attitude and was unprofessional by telling me that it's late evening now and not enough materials to finish tonight. So he said that he's going to reschedule me. To sum it up, I called and complained to the overseer of the services, quality control management and then was called back from several MRW management and staff, just to have nothing done about this. They assured me that someone will be coming out to take a look at the service that was done but no one came. I just received emails and more calls. I've never had that issue before with MRW. I could be wrong but when hiring certain types of people, this can truly ruin the customer relationship once the employees treat them in an unpleasant manner. They used to be excellent and now just treated me terrible. I was tempting to still look forward to that exceptional service they used to render but I don't feel like they care to do that with me anymore. My money being spent, I should've received a quality service and not just the aeration service that was worthless. Just to add, when trying to cancel my services as I thought I did it professionally through a letter and emailed, I was told that nothing could be cancelled until I talked with one of the managers. So I feel that no one truly tried their best to have a problem resolved, no resolution at the time but still kept my payments coming out. The lawn care treatments were fine but I noticed many of times here lately that when they say you're service is coming up, it's more than likely going to be rescheduled due to whether or something else. We cannot control the weather nor predict it but we have control over our customer relationship. My overall rating of MRW now would be a 3 out of 5 stars. read more

My husband contracted with MRW lawns and so far we've been less than impressed. Somehow, our backyard looks worse than before they started treating it. I will say, our front yard does look pretty good. My other issue is they don't shut the gate to our backyard after they leave. It makes zero sense why they don't simply pull it shut. Most people have fenced in yards for a reason. We have four dogs, a hot tub, and we live on the water/have a pier. Our fence serves multiple purposes. We're trying to keep our pets in and people/children out. Luckily, I know to go out and check/shut the gate after they leave. If you have pets and/or children, be sure to check your gates if you have a fence after they leave. Lastly, their prices are very high. If our backyard doesn't start to look better over the next few weeks after today's treatment, we will not be renewing. read more

In early November of 2022 I hired MRW Lawn Service to provide lawn care services which included soil testing, fertilization, weed control, grub control, seeding and Core/Slice combo renovation. I recognized that results take time, so I stuck with MRW for almost one year hoping for the results their representative had promised. Unfortunately, the results from all the treatments applied by MWR were unsatisfactory. The primary issues of concern were weeds and bare spots. At the end of August 2023, I cancelled the service with MWR after paying them over $2000.00 My concerns were discussed with several MWR staff members, including the quality control manager about the disappointing results and the unsatisfactory service. read more

Frustrated is an understatement! We reached out to MRW for assistance with greening up and growing grass in some rather difficult areas of our lawn. When treatment started, we noticed a nice greening in the earlier part of the season, but a nice lawn was short lived. Fast forward to May when someone visited to "treat" our yard, resulting in small 2x2 brown spots and dots in varying areas in the front and back, mostly the back. My back yard is now dirt! I was told the issue was a broken applicator. After a site visit by a couple of quality control managers, they all acknowledged there was a failure of some sort that caused the grass to die in certain areas, so they offered to seed. Sounds like a good compromise, right? ..Wrong! The guy that came to seed (almost a month after I reported the issue) took a huge machine and decimated good grass. Almost my whole front yard and all of my back! He drove the thing right down the center of my yard and in a circle around the front tree, leaving a full bag of lawn clippings spread all over. I pulled into my driveway (in the evening) and couldn't believe my eyes. Yes, I could see the damage in the evening, it was that bad! Two days after, they sent a team with lawn blowers to visit. They literally blew my yard for about 5 mins and left. At this point it's insult to injury. I raked the clippings because with the heat and weight, it would only kill good grass that was smothered beneath. I've been dealing with a quality control specialist that acknowledges the initial issues, the poor seeding job, and now tells me there is nothing they can do for me at this point. Between seeding in early spring, watering daily to get to where it was before they ruined it, and lots of money on additional products and compost, I'm spent! I don't know about you, but trust me, had I read a review like this prior to having them service my lawn, I would have thought twice about calling. Save yourself the headache and money. read more

I have been with MRW Lawns for routine lawn care almost continuously since the early 1990's when I purchased my home. Tried another service briefly but was unsatisfied and came back to MRW. They have always been quickly responsive to the minimal number of issues I have reported (immersion of weeds). There are a lot of good things about this company, but one things stood out as particularly important to me. It might sound a little weird, but I guess you had to be there, and it's something I appreciated. A man from MRW serviced our lawn today. Not only was our lawn fully and thoroughly covered, but he was very professional. I happened to have been in the basement at the time when he came, and I saw him walk by. He didn't look in the basement door window or glass at all, even though some people probably would have! I know some people get curious & might try to peak in windows. A huge disservice, unreliable! Communication is a joke! Hard to get them to service home as agreed. Very misleading they say one thing and do another...they mentioned it was important to treat for ticks and fleas in a timely manner and it's almost impossible to get them out on property. We have missed work because they don't show up or have courtesy to call and cancel. Our dogs and kids come in with ticks, I don't recommend this company at all...I've spoken with manager and to no avail. read more

I used to be skeptical of all lawn services, and I still am of some of the 'big name' companies. However, I had reached my limit with our lawn. It was huge (well, for my time and abilities), and every time I would mow it, I would despair at the worsening condition. Bald spots, three or four different kinds of grasses and as many colors, onions, chickweed out of control... I was convinced that that the entire back lot was nothing but chickweed, and if I mowed it short enough to cut the leaves off, it 'sort of' looked like grass. I noticed the guy across the street used MRW because I would see them out there adding fertilizer occasionally. His lawn was really nice. So.. I called. What could it hurt? After only one year that included some heavy weed/herb killer applications, and a slice core seeding, it was like something I would want to roll in as a kid. ONE YEAR. That next spring I couldn't believe it. It was actually a beautiful and bright, one-shade-of green, and it was soft and fluffy and thick. I had to learn how to mow real grass again because if I let it get too high, my mower would choke on it. I didn't think anyone could simultaneously destroy all those weeds and return it to grass without making the lawn look apocalyptic-ally neglected. These guys know what they are doing, and actually do the work to get it right. I only wish they were out here where we now live in CA. read more

Been with this company for about 2 seasons now. The backyard of our house was riddled with bare spots and weeds. The front was in better condition but was deteriorating fast. I was handling the maintenance myself but to no avail I gave up. MRW came and after 2 seasons of treatment (aeration, seeding, fertilization, etc.) our lawn is the best on our cul-de-sac. We often get many compliments on our yard and recommend them to our neighbors but for some reason they dont sign up.*shrug* Shame because their prices are one of the best in the area if not the best. Why not 5 stars then? The service department is less than stellar. On a few occasions I have to remind them to come out for an application after the tech. misses his scheduled run. There was also an incident with one of the service reps where said rep was highly unprofessional. Despite these few quirks, I would recommend them. read more

Watch out for this company. If you sign up for their services and pay in advance they "auto renew" your contract. Because you typically are not home when they apply your service you don't know your contract has been "auto renewed" until the bill is hanging on your door. I had their service for 5 years and they refused to nullify payment for the service I didn't request. I'm sure there more honest choices out there. read more

I switched to MRW Lawns in the fall of 2015. At that time they suggested that the front and back lawns be renovated because of the different types of weeds and grasses that had grown in. I took them up on their suggestion in the fall of 2015. They said that it would take about 2 years for the lawn to grow back and fill in. After the first year (2016) I was excited about the improvement. Nice lush, green grass. My neighbors all admired my lawn which was the best looking lawn in the neighborhood. MRW Lawns used very low quality compost on my lawn. I was very unhappy with the compost consisting of EXTENSIVE pieces of plastic bags all throughout the compost. My goal was to improve my lawn not pollute it with non-biodigradable plastic. MRW Lawns repeatedly tried to place the blame of the poor quality INORGANIC compost material on the compost company. MRW Lawns is responsible for the products they use. MRW Lawns did not try to make me a satisfied customer and has lost our business. I highly recommend putting your money elseware. read more

I've been using MRW Lawns for a few years now and they've been great. The office staff is friendly and they call back on the few instances you have to leave a message unlike Denison Landscaping, who may or may not call you back. The people that show up at the house are also friendly and suggest other services without being pushy about the up sell. My lawn looks great. I get compliments on it all the time. It would cost me almost as much to do it myself and they have the tools and expertise. Most of the time they show up while I'm at work and treat my lawn without really needing too much interaction from me but they are very responsive when you do need to talk to them. I have also used them for seeding, aeration and such. I highly recommend them. Even a couple of neighbors have joined in. read more

I have been a customer of MRW for about 5 seasons now. The lawn looks great and we have one of the most consistently green lawns in the neighborhood. They always call in advance of treatment and their technicians are courteous, thorough and knowledgeable. When I took into account my time and the cost of materials, it was well worth the price not to have to do fertilizing and pesticide applications myself. The lawn service was comparable to other companies I've used....BUT...I hired them in 2011 and in 2012 I cancelled the treatments as they called me to come out in starting with the month of June. The treatments they did up to May are paid in full. At the end of the year, I sold the house and moved to a condo. MRW billed me for $516 of treatments they did not do, as I had cancelled the appointments. Thinking this was an over sight...I wrote the company. The salesman called me back and threatened me with a collection agency. Apparently they think their "contract" goes on year to year forever. Any Realtor knows a contract must have a start and end date to be valid. The BBB wrote them 3 times...no response. Now I've filed a complaint with the MD Attorney General. read more

When we first started with MRW about 2 yrs ago, our lawn was a mixture of several different grasses and weeds. We worked with MRW to decide what was best for rebuilding our lawn, killing off the old, adding top soil, compost and seeding. What would have taken generally 2-3 yrs to establish, we were showing off our new lawn in just one yr. MRW is amazing, they know what needs to be done, they stay on top of what needs to be done at a reasonable and comparable price. When I moved into my community over 20 years ago, my next door neighbor had a yard that would be envied anywhere in the state. It was an MRW lawn. After failing to turn my weed patch into anything comparable, I began using MRW. We started from scratch with a core slice lawn seeding. My neighbor still has a beautiful yard, but my grass is as green, thick and healthy as his, even though my other neighbor does zero lawn maintenance and I have to constantly fight off her weeds. Fortunately my MRW larn is so thick that even with that, I rarely get more than a couple of dandelions. MRW always calls before they come out and the techs are always polite, informative and leave the service area clean. The price has gone up a little over the years, but I still believe MRW is a great value. I do my own mowing and trimming, but I leave the treatments to MRW and they have proven to be worthy of my loyalty. read more
