I've tried the big names like Green Chef, Blue Apron... etc. in the past and my stomach never agreed with them, and I also don't want to mess with dirty dishes right now. I found Pure Meal Prep and liked that it's freshly prepared locally, and they even get their produce from the same place I do: Specialty Produce! The meals have been very tasty so far, with only one pasta-based dish that I wasn't crazy for. My biggest concern was the proteins might be dry or tough being pre-prepared, but they have been tender and moist - kudos to the chefs! They are generous in portion sizes, balanced, healthy (and my stomach has been just fine!) and just what I need right now.

I was calm, polite and very understanding when an entirely wrong $447 catering order was delivered for an important business lunch. I may have even used CaterSquad again if they had made a real effort to fix it. The way they handled the mistake is the reason I won't. I notified them around 11:45 that the order was wrong. I could see someone typing, but I did not receive a response until around noon saying they would contact the restaurant. With lunch ending at 1:00, there was still time to save it, but no one stepped in to find another solution. Their support is essentially text only, which is a serious problem when catering is time-sensitive. The representative helping me was new, told me she wasn't sure what to do, and said she needed to contact the owner. I was patient with her, and she assured me I would still receive the advertised $50 first-order Amazon gift card. After speaking with the owner, that changed. There was no meaningful attempt to make up for the failed lunch, the five-hour round-trip drive I made to attend it, or the damage this caused with an important office account. I was essentially left with an apology for the inconvenience. This was more than an inconvenience. I wasn't looking to blame anyone -- I was asking CaterSquad to help solve the problem while there was still time. They didn't. To make matters worse, I was told in writing that I would receive the $50 gift card, then later told I would not because the order had not been successfully completed and I wasn't charged. The order wasn't successfully completed because CaterSquad failed to deliver it correctly. For a catering company handling important, time-sensitive events, there should be a real support system when something goes wrong -- not delayed text messages while the opportunity to fix the problem disappears. $447 order. Wrong food delivered. Delayed response. No immediate solution. No accessible customer-service phone line. Five-hour round trip wasted. Important business lunch ruined. Delivery was seamless with a notification text communicating my estimated delivery time and another notification when the driver had arrived. Everything was packed nicely and made it to me in perfect condition. My items were still cold on arrival. Harvestly even include a reusable bag and ice pack. I got strawberry almond milk, green juice, hot sauce, mushrooms, and lettuce. All produce looked fresh and great. I was nervous to have someone else pick out my own produce but everything looks amazing! Can't wait to try all these items and figure out what to order next time!

Signing up is easy, you can opt to have reminder emails. They post the menu online. You can also get veggie versions of the meals, or fish versions. I opted fish so take that into account. I swing sorta wildly from day to day on this service. I am a bit picky, and sometimes I don't want to have what they bring me. Other days I am SO glad that I am not going to have to worry about putting something together for dinner (yeah more like eating cup o soup). Service is really good at least from my delivery guy. He is really great, calling me when he is near, leaving my food by my door, or even helping me cancel and order last minute. He is always smiling! Because I just get fish dishes I sometimes get really bored. I have had tilapia for the past month and a half aside for one shrimp dish. One could change their days so it is partly my fault I just prefer to get mid week meals. Some dishes like pasta, cajun tilapia, and a few others stand out. Others are better than anything I would make (seriously cup o noodles), while others are amazing in that they are so poorly thought out I have to actually tell my friends about it. For example the tilapia in enchilada sauce over lime rice (tasted like plain white rice). Again, I am sure the dish would have been good if you ate meat and could get a normal one. I will take pictures and probably update often so you can get an idea of how good things are. I am still deciding if I want to keep this service or not. The Melt has really good, high quality food that honestly does not taste like your typical fast food. This was actually my first time at the La Jolla location. I had previously been to the Delaware location, and every single time I've gone, the food has been so good. This time, I got the Oreo Shake, Melt Burger, Mac & Cheese, and Garlic Bacon Fries, and honestly, everything was a 10 out of 10. The quality is consistently so good, and I really love how flavorful everything is. It's also a really quick and easy spot. You can order through the kiosk or at the front counter, grab your food when it's ready, and sit wherever you'd like. You're also expected to clean up after yourself, which keeps everything pretty simple. The vibe inside is decent. It honestly reminds me of a typical fast food chain, but the biggest difference is that the food quality is definitely not fast food. Everything tastes fresh, delicious, and much higher quality than what you would normally expect from a quick service restaurant. I've been here past 2 AM a couple of times, and there are quite a few homeless people walking back and forth in the surrounding area, so I would just recommend being aware of your surroundings, especially if you're coming late at night.
