This is a company that rents video and audio equipment. They offer great service and equipment! I am a singer who rented a sound system. I got a great speaker and a small mixer for the entire weekend at a great rate. The system provided clean, clear sound for a house concert. From start to finish, Yasmin was promptly responsive to my many email inquiries as I tried to select the best equipment for my needs and determine the best price. I saved money by picking up the equipment myself. Mark, at the distribution point, was pleasant when gathering and helping me to load my equipment. My only suggestions for improvement of this service would be to stock up on padded, handled bags so that all of the equipment can be presented to the customer in a way that will assure that it is safe in transport. And, all equipment should be tested and packed for pickup before the window of time allotted begins. I found this place after using google for video projector rental in DC area. I needed to rent a projector and screen for a slideshow that would be running during an event I had on Friday night. The place was a little hard to find as there is no signage outside for security reasons. The manager was very helpful and made recommendations based on my needs without trying to push for a higher sale. He's been in the video/media biz for 20 years so he knows his stuff. The reason I would have given them 5 stars is because the day I came to pick up the projector, he walked through how to hook everything up to my laptop but it did not display properly. Because he didn't have another projector of equal performance at the time, he rented me a higher quality projector at no extra cost. That is great customer service in my opinion. The reason I instead gave them 4 stars is because of the current state of their inventory. He did not have some of the projector models he recommended in stock , and while using the projector I ended up with, I did a quick Amazon check and found out that it was quite an older model. Overall the manager is great to work with and I would definitely recommend to anyone who has any type of A/V rental needs for an event or workshop. read more

This place saved our bacon. We realized on late Friday afternoon that we needed countryman microphones (they go over the back of your ear) a speaker and a mixer for teaching a weekend workshop in a large, open and acoustically unforgiving space. Found them through Google. The person who answered the phone answered all my questions and helped us put a package together . We arrived shortly before closing and there was one customer ahead of us. When it was our turn, he showed us how to hook everything up, tested the levels and made sure everything worked. Everything worked well and equipment return went smoothly on Monday. read more

I have been looking for a place, literally for years to transfer my ireplacable family films from the 1950s, and some 3/4 inch tapes from earlier in my broadcast career. Mr. Video's website said they transfer 8mm films to the format I needed, and that they perform a cleaning of the film as well, which is what convinced me to give them a try. When I took my films to their store, I found their staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. However, they admitted to me that their film cleaning consists of using pressurized air to clear the gate when needed - not quite what I wanted. But since they are local, and were so nice, I gave them a try. Unfortunately, their transfer of my 8mm films was less than satisfactory. All the transfers were over-saturated (I suspect their video monitors could use setting up), and all but one transfer had the film jumping in the gate from time to time; sometimes severely. There were also several transfers with hairs in the gate. Just from my brief conversations with them, I don't think they are particularly technical - at least not the person who transferred my films. I sincerely think they mean well, but I plan on looking for a different company to transfer my 3/4" tapes, and my 8mm films -- again. read more

Mr. Video's staff was incredibly helpful. I called for a last minute rental and they were able to help me out immediately. They took the time to show me how to use the equipment and helped me load it in my car. I also returned my item after the designated time I was supposed to get it back and they were very flexible and let it slide. I would definitely use them again for future rentals. read more

I had a bad experience with Mr. Video. I paid $40 to have an exercise tape transferred to dvd format only to find that it wouldn't play. The disc they gave me was very thin and I suspected that might be the problem. They said it wasn't their fault and that my dvd player was too old and I should buy a new one. I took the dvd Mr. Video made to a new video production company with the latest equipment and they also couldn't play it. They made a dvd for me that plays perfectly on my equipment. After paying Mr. Video more than $100 for transfering 8mm tape I expected to get more professional treatment with the non-working dvd problem. But they wouldn't make it right so I do not recommend them. read more

They provided a shabby product and had unacceptable customer service. I was getting slides transferred to DVDs. They took longer than they told me, plus I had to keep calling them to find out when the job was ready. When I received the DVDs, they did not have the same orientation -- which I specifically told them I needed so I could use them for a slide show -- and they went back and forth from jpeg to tif formats. When I called them, they said I had not paid for the orientation service and sent me an invoice and said it would take "some time." The owner was completely unresponsive to the situation except to send an additional invoice! My 12 year old son took about an hour to straighten out the orientation issue. I would never use them again, highly caution anyone who is thinking of using them and would give them zero stars if that rating was available. read more

I had to convert some old reel to reel audio tapes to digital. I received one quote on the phone but when arrived it was a different person who gave me a higher quote. He asked if I had the lower quote on paper, but I didn't so he charged me the higher rate, even though his colleague on the phone said something a bit lower. They also said the cost was to convert to either DVD or Flash. I assumed they would provide this as part of the cost, but was told when I dropped it off that I had to bring my own DVD and/or flash drive. When I called in advance to pick it up at the end of the day on Friday, I was told it might take an hour to transfer it to my flash since they were busy with their weekend rentals. I mean really - for $79 for one small reel to reel tape of 32 mins/MB. The quality was ok, but thought the price was high. I don't think this is their core business and there are better places in the area. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I work for a Non Profit Organization in Washington DC. Every year our organization participates in the Capital Pride Parade. This year instead of hiring a DJ we decided to rent equipment. I found Mr. Video and spoke to three different people from the organizaiton explaining what I needed. I was told for a parade I would need 4 speakers, and one battery. I needed the battery to last for only 1 1/2 hours. I was told the battery would last at a high volume with the 4 speakers for around 3 hours but was given a back up battery just in case. I was given clear simple instructions on how to use everything that I followed to the T. To my horror during the parade after only 10 minutes the first battery died. The power of the four speakers was too much for it to handle. I quickly connected the second battery and after 5 minutes I could see the yellow low battery light on. I had to disconnect three speakers and only use 1 speaker the rest of the parade on low volume, even with this the last battery died during the final 5 minutes of the parade. I was extremely upset that the equipment did not do anything I was promised it would. When I returned everything the manager that I asked to speak to was EXTREMELY rude telling me that it was my fault that I must have placed the battery on the cemement to drain them (something I was never told) what??? I was told the equipment worked and that it was my fault that next time maybe I should only have rented two speakers, when it was Mr. Video who recommended I rent four in the first place. I was given no refund nor an apology for the event being ruined by faulty equipment. I have never been so appauled by a company and its customer service. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. I dont want anyone to go through what myself and my organization went through, especially during an important event. read more

Not terrible, but not quite OK. I took in 3 200ft reels of 8 mm film to be transferred to DVD. They initially tried to charge me an extra $25 not mentioned on their web site. They said it would probably be ready next week. Next week they said it was next job up. Two days later they said it was being burned to DVD so I started over. About 1/2 hour later I was told that it would be another hour. I came in next day and it was ready. When I viewed DVD I noticed lots of lint or dust type noise at the beginning. After a few minutes, the lint/dust type noise went away. Although my reels were clearly labeled 7, 8 and 9, the DVD was ordered 8, 9, 7. I also noticed that one of my film leaders was missing and the end of the film looked as if it had been torn off. DVD was not organized into chapters (but they never said it would be). Other than the dust/lint at the beginning, the transfer quality seems to be OK. read more
