To all the self-proclaimed DIY Non Professional Auto Mechanics. When your project fails, and YOU seek a professional to fix your mistake, be prepared for criticism. The entire field of automotive repair services are swamped daily by failed DIY repairs. And in most cases to fix these mistakes cost MORE than what it would have cost had you just taken it to the Pro's. In My case, I have been doing DIY's for 40yrs. With great success. But when I ran into a transmission problem (which I have no knowledge about at all) I decided to go to Mr. Transmission in Bourbonnais Illinois. My recent purchase of a used 2003 Trail Blazer, began to profusely spray transmission fluid all over my under carriage covering other components / lines and wires. I had no clue. John and his crew took a look and decided that the transmission cooling lines were in very bad shape and needed replaced. John gave me a fair and reasonable estimate on the complete repair. During the removal and replacement of Parts, they began to have problems due to not only the fact that someone did a quick splice of a rotten Piece of tubing instead of replacing the entire piece, they also noted that due to the manufacturer's placement of insulation around the tubes to ward off moister causing rust , actually created moisture and premature rust. This caused excessive time (labor) to remove connectors from the transmission . This job took far much longer than it should have. It took hours of valuable time to repair. All in all the final results were this. I was charged for Parts and taxes , BUT only charged for the labor for the amount that it should have only taken, and not the many hours it did take !!! I gratefully applaud John and his Crew for a Job done right. And I highly recommend using Mr. Transmission in Bourbonnais, Illinois. From one war veteran (me) to another (John).... My daughter is a student at Olivet and her car left her stranded on campus. Her description of the problem led me to believe it was the transmission. We live about 2 hours away from campus and I had no idea where to turn for a reputable service station. I spoke to a local resident (public safety officer) who had some insight on a reputable mechanic. Mr. Transmission was highly recommended. I called and the owner was very professional, knowledgeable, and honest. After a long discussion, we arranged for the car to be towed to the shop first thing Monday morning. He looked the car over and diagnosed the problem to be the transmission. They went above and beyond when they really looked the car over (engine, etc.) and shared their professional opinion whether the car should be repaired or not. John at Mr. Transmission does great work and treated my daughter's vehicle troubles as if he was taking care of his own daughter. My daughter while away from home at school had vehicle issues where her truck would not start even after having it jumped. John had her truck towed from the school parking lot to his Mr. Transmission business figured out the issues while keeping me in the loop and had her back in her truck by the afternoon. The staff at Mr Transmission really are technical experts in their business. To eliminate any confusion, they are a TRANSMISSION and POWERTRAIN specialization shop. They helped me correctly identity my rear differential issue as well as other points of concern. Explained everything clearly in a down to earth way. Car was making noise and took it to 2 shops, one shop said it needed tires so we put tires on car, next shop said we had bad struts. I took it to Mr Transmission and had them check it.
