I can get a combo for $8.99 before taxes. My problem is not knowing where the nearest Burger King (BK) is. I did a search for the nearest location driving from work home. I noticed this BK on highway 27, north of highway 7. I have probably passed it a bunch of times, but have no recollection of it. I headed over here after work on a Wednesday. I made the mistake of having Google Maps lead the way. It thought that I could drive through the Walmart store that acts as a fence to get to BK. Um, no. The best way to get here is to drive northbound on highway 27 and make a left into a plaza that this BK anchors. I backed into a parking spot and looked at the building. There's a drive-thru lane on the right when you're facing the main doors. There is a patio area on the left. Oddly, I saw two people try and open the patio door to get into the eatery while I was eating. It was strange to me, as it wasn't the main door and there was no branding. In my car, I placed my order through the BK app: - Whopper - Onion rings - Medium fountain drink I specified that I wanted my order to be made immediately. It was for dining in. I used the washroom first. There are three gender-neutral, individual stalls. One of them is equipped with accessibility features, such as a button that shows it's available when the button is green and is occupied when the button is red. I used the middle one. It was clean and spacious. No complaints. I walked over to the counter. This store has the best customer service. I spoke to a woman and indicated that I had a mobile order under my name. She nodded and let her colleague know that I was here. The other female staffer asked if I got a cup for my drink. I didn't get one, so she fixed that void. I filled it up with ice, followed by mostly Diet Coke, topped with Cherry Coke. It works out well. I get the cherry flavour without the drink being overly sweet and sugary. The medium cup is too small for me if I got a single drink without any refills. I had to do a refill during my meal when I ran out. I refilled when I left the eatery to head home. The drink machine is awesome. I'm so glad that there's variety. The woman who handed me my drink let me know that my order was ready. I thanked her as I grabbed my paper bag to go find a table to sit down at. The improved Whopper is excellent. The beef patty is juicy and flavourful. I like the crisp lettuce and yummy tomato slices. The pickle slices were perfect. The bun held everything together. So good! The onion rings were excellent. The coating was crispy. Each onion ring was sweet and delicious. This eatery looks new. It's probably a year old at the most. It was nicely maintained. A staffer had her meal a few tables down from where I was. When she was done, she threw away her bag and then emptied the trash. My order: - Angus burger on a multigrain bun - Onion rings - Regular Diet Pepsi I had a gift card loaded to my account and used it to pay. I also earned Scene+ points. I got an estimated pickup time of ten minutes. I would likely get there a bit earlier. It was easy heading east along Highway 7 to get to the restaurant. I made a right turn into the plaza, followed by a left. This eatery has a drive-thru with a fairly long approach. I liked it. This Harvey's is next to Luber, which is, you guessed it, an oil and lube station for your vehicle. So aptly named! There was parking around the building. I appreciated that there were signs indicating that these parking spots were for Harvey's customers. I backed into a spot and headed inside. I saw a huge chicken figure as I walked in. I took a photo of Penny the chicken. It's not every day that you walk into any Harvey's to see a chicken staring at you. She was tied down for security. I frankly don't think folks can steal her. She looks heavy for anyone to carry her out (sorry, Penny!) and it does not look like an easy feat to get Penny out both sets of doors. An exceptionally enthusiastic man behind the counter greeted me. I said that I was likely early picking up my order and indicated that it was under my name. Sure enough, it was ready. Yay! I grabbed the paper bag with my food and my drink from him. I thanked him and headed to the dining area to have an early dinner. Harvey's only gives you two options when you order online or through the app: - Takeout - Delivery There isn't a dine-in option. I end up doing the takeout option and sitting down with my food. It works. You simply don't get a tray and no one looks at your funny because you have bagged food. I loved my angus burger. I was rusty ordering it, though. I forgot to add lettuce and cucumbers. I oddly got relish down, so I wasn't ignoring anything green. I simply don't visit Harvey's as often as I should. Anyway, the multigrain bun was perfect. The angus beef was juicy and yummy. I loved the garlic mayo, relish, and tomato slices. It hit the spot. I do feel that the burgers are getting smaller. Maybe I need to get two burgers instead. The onion rings were excellent. As a kid, when my parents and I would visit Pickering Flea Market (may it rest in peace), we'd pass by this McDonald's to get there. A couple of weekends ago, I was shopping in Pickering. Shopping up a storm required getting a drink afterwards. I had never been to this McDonald's. I decided to get a drink here on my way home. This eatery is on the south side of Kingston Road, just east of Sheppard Avenue East. I had no problem pulling into the parking lot and locating the drive-thru. Before visiting this restaurant, I had loaded the $1 fountain drink deal to my QR code on my McDonald's app. I wasn't able to pay on the app (it's a long story, but I'm able to now), so I loaded this deal and then had to pay for my drink at the window. Not horrible. Just an extra step and interaction with a human. This McDonald's has two drive-thru lanes that ultimately converge by the time you get to the first window. I liked the longer approach to get to the order area, as it accommodates more vehicles when things get busy. I got a friendly male voice at the drive-thru order area. I rattled off my code associated with my reward points. The man saw my fountain drink deal. I got a large Diet Coke. I proceeded to make my way to the pickup window. I paid with a credit card. Tapped. Paid. Done! I got my drink. I was so happy. I thanked the woman at this window and started making tracks home. The downside is doing a left turn to get home from this McDonald's. I ended up heading east and making a left turn at the next set of lights. It was the safer option. My Diet Coke was crisp and cold. It hit the spot after a successful shopping excursion. The staff at the drive through order were happy to make sure we got one of each of their available toys. We were told to wait at parking spot #1, and when we were waiting, the car at spot #2 left. A staff, I assume the manager, made a mad dash up over a snow hill to catch the #2 spot customer before they left the lot at the traffic light. He came back with a pack of food in his hand, and then the customer #2 came back to the parking spot. The manager then brought out another bag for them. WOW - that is commitment to everyone enjoying the food they order, and getting what they order. After that, the same manager came out with more orders, including ours. He asked us to check that we had two toys inside, stood there waiting for us to confirm, and wished us a pleasant day as we drove off. I've honestly never had such impressive, dedicated service. I needed to order a minimum of $5 to be able to use them. I got a regular orange cream shake, which got me to this minimum. It was nice using my points and paying just over $1 for my order. I drove southbound on Markham Road and turned right to get to Harvey's. I was greeted by a seagull and two Canadian geese. All were looking for food. I was, too! At the order area, I spoke with a helpful woman. I indicated that I had a order. She found my name on the order and said that I could pull up to the window. The woman was great. She handed my shake and small paper bag with my burger. I thanked her and drove home. I had the shake on my way home. I do appreciate that the top was sealed with a couple of sticky labels. However, taking it off was a challenge. You do need to make sure that you're not sucking down remnants of these labels. I loved the shake. It was like a mild orange version of a creamsicle.
