I'm writing regarding the recent sewer line work performed at our property in Colorado Springs, supervised by Zach Croley with Mr Rooter. The overall process quickly became problematic, costly, poorly managed, and they sell you on 'scare' tactics with no honesty. After removing a toilet for a camera inspection revealed a blockage possibly caused by a branch, we were quoted $7,800 for replacement. Under pressure and uneducated in the world of plumbing, we agreed to a "discounted" $6,800 rate and immediate start. The crew immediately dug about 15 feet down to access the pipe to replace, hitting our underground electric AND the well water line. This could have been avoided with proper utility flagging and communication, which was never done, and is illegal come to find out! Compounding the issue, we later learned from a second opinion (Dan's Drains & Diggs) that the same job could have been done using a trenchless liner system with zero landscaping damage. That company also identified a missed cleanout and septic access point, that Mr Rooter completely overlooked - there was no need to remove a toilet in the 1st place and could have unclogged the drain using this access point. What's more concerning is that Zach initially said our remaining line to the house looked fine, only to later push a $4,500 CIPP lining add-on for just 4 more feet--raising the total to over $11,000. No evidence of old 'Orangeburg' pipe was shown to us, and we now question whether that additional replacement was even necessary, or actually, any of the work! We had to bring in our own well company to properly repair the water and electrical lines they damaged! Our yard, railroad ties, underground electrical cord, and landscaping retaining wall has been left in need of major damage with quotes over 10k to repair, creating water drainage / flooding issues, at our expense. The tree next to the retaining wall now has root damage, and might have to be removed too. I will report them to the BBB and any other entities for their shoddy services. PLEASE do your homework and read these 1 star reviews before you are soon writing your own 1 star review. And watch how they reply to my review (they might say 'We don't recognize your name in our system'..or 'We cannot find your address in our system'..WOW...how can I make this up?? So sad we have such con artists within our own community here in Colorado Springs that are still in business. There is an obstruction in my sewer line. I just recently had it scoped while I purchased the new home. I had Mr. Ruder come out to clear the lines for $300 scoping plus drain sneaking. The tech was not able to provide the service and offered an approach that cost in $15,000. I went to Home Depot and rent it out the exact same auger that the tech used and cleared the line myself. I would not trust this company. I feel like they're out to get your money. read more

We had Mitchell with Mr Rooter come to do a snake of our older house. This was a completely prophylactic service. Our pipes were in complete working order. Mitchell comes-discusses how busy he is with my husband and then leaves. After my husband flushed the toilet, he noticed some mild leaking around the cap. Knowing how "busy" Mitchell was, he thought he could just put the cap on correctly since Mitchell didn't. My husband unscrewed the cap and it completely fell apart-falling down the drain. We call the plumber back. Mitchell explains to us that he noticed that the cap was cracked as he put it in place (never mentioned that to us the first time). We would have gladly paid $15 for a new cap in the moment. He also never checked to make sure it wasn't leaking prior to leaving-just threw the cap on and went off with his busy day. When he comes back, he offers us a $300 camera inspection and deflects all responsibility. He says that my husband is to blame because he dropped it down the drain. Why would my husband ever mess with it if it was working adequately when the plumber left? I call and speak to Paul, manager on duty. He continued to deflect responsibility stating that Mitchell did nothing wrong. I asked, "so loose caps that my husband can open with his bare hands and they fall apart are just normal service." Paul then got super upset when I told him to "be quiet" as he talked over me deflecting any responsibility and claiming they did nothing wrong. However, we had a fully functioning plumbing system to now trying to find someone to come because they have zero customer service and apparently lacking skills. Mitchell even apologized for not checking to see if it was leaking prior to leaving. He also said he didn't have a new cap to replace it so he didn't think to tell us about the crack. Mitchell also is not a plumber. When there was trouble, he stated that he needed to call a plumber. I'm sorry... why are you messing with my pipes when you aren't a plumber? Olson plumbing and heating is more expensive but I would pay double for a company that ensures adequate work before leaving, using licensed plumbers and will take ownership of their mistakes. Mr. Rooter is a money making scheme with seemingly entry level staff that will leave your basement with raw sewage and have the audacity to say they didn't do anything wrong. Go to Olson. You get what you pay for. We also offered to pay $100 for the camera, taking accountability for our part in this-nope. $300 or screw us. read more

Mr Rooter offered fast, friendly and expert service for my slow draining kitchen sink. JP., my tech arrived on time, he quickly found the problem, and explained what needed to be done. I got an estimate and he answered all my questions. The work was completed very efficiently and the problem was solved. His professionalism was greatly appreciated and I would contact him again for any future needs. read more

Do not go through this company. They installed a toilet 4 years ago incorrectly, my toilet has been leaking for the last 4 years without my knowledge because it was under the toilet itself. My floor is now rotted and they will not take any accountability for it. I know it was put on incorrectly because the part the wax ring was put on was not level. They also put to small of a wax ring on. I talked to a manager and he said because it wasn't in my one year warranty they would not cover anything at all even though they were the ones who installed it. He also informed me that the plumbers put toilets on daily so they know what they are doing, so I asked why they didn't know that the toilet was leaking due to putting a wax seal on a faulty part when they should be educated enough to know it would leak. I was also hung up on and told to go through my home owners insurance. This faulty error will cost me thousands. Please think twice before doing business with this company as they have no ethic or moral compass. read more

Update 8/27/24: James and Benjamin came out to the house. They did a re-scope. They were very kind and professional. I appreciate that they took accountability even if the dig team is separate from their own. The only advice I would give is to make sure the office team gets a little retraining on communication. It was very hard to get anyone to respond and if they communicated at all during this stressful situation I think it would have gone a lot smoother, regardless of whom the responsible party was. Thank you. Update 8/22/24: Jose and another worker came out and filled in the hole and used the machine to compact it. He didn't know the cleanouts were installed as the last people to bring dirt buried them. So one broke while compacting. He had to find the other one, cut them and re installed them properly closer to level with the grass. I reached out again to Mr. Rooter and asked that they come rescope just to make sure it didn't crack the pipe again. Although I stand behind my original review, I guess that goes more towards the actual workers. I am having issues getting responses from the office staff. I am really concerned that where they did the work a sink hole keeps opening up. They've added more dirt before, and I have a video of the worker saying "oh here's the hole" (underneath my roses where they also dug under). He only added one bucket of dirt though, and only did a foot stomp. I am mostly concerned that maybe they didn't actually fix the leak in the pipe. Perhaps they got the wrong section, perhaps only replacing the clogged section. Is that why it keeps sinking? I don't know, because no one will respond. I am so scared to walk over the hole when I'm mowing, for fear I'm going to fall through. Is it happening because they needed to add a special rocky type soil first to give the softer dirt something to grab onto? I wouldn't know, because no one is responding. Is this nOrMaL?? Again, I wouldn't know. You can see where the sink hole also goes under my roses, and the wood boarder. I would REALLY like someone to respond. I'm sick of living in fear of my own yard. read more

Update to the last: Spoke to the the GM today via phone and in the spirit of fairness and equality I want to provide clarification (no we're not getting anything in return): So the initial service tech was the one who we dealt with mostly , no issues with him, actually no issues with the second service tech who came out in person, our frustrations lie essentially with the weekend supervisor and the lack of communication and transparency, which runs parallel with lack of communication. Our water heater was under warranty, the anode rod went bad. The initial service texh required documentation from the manufacturer for replacement of the anode rod. Was provided. We were under the impression that the installation etc. of the new anode rod would be fully covered. The whole time. It tool a very long time for the anode rod to be acquired. Absurdly long, no fault of the initial service tech though. Just a convoluted process. Anode rod arrives finally, took some back and forth to get a service tech to come out in person. All while under the assumption it would be covered. Second technician comes out in person. He too seemed to think this was going to be covered. He clarified with the service supervisor/manager that it would be. He was told "NO" the first time. Told us the service supervisor/manager wanted back the anode rod if we refused. Second technician disagreed and said it was OUR anode rod either way. Second service technician called the service supervisor/manager again as I asked to negotiation then the price. Service supervisor/manager gave a 'hard no', "no flexibility". We then refused to pay full price as we were under the impression from the get go, this was covered. Breakdown of communication from beginning. GM called today and we discussed then issues and clarified our expectations. GM agreed breakdown in communication and policy, to an extent. We weren't offered anything in return for modifying this review but phone discussion with GM cleared up most of the misunderstandings. We have spent over $50,000 with Mr. Rooter in the past year, and unfortunately, our most recent experience has been extremely disappointing. A warranty repair for a sinkhole in our yard was handled with poor communication, unsatisfactory workmanship, and--shockingly--the general manager told us to "never call the office again." Even though the work is still under warranty, my family was forced to re-grade, re-sod, and repair the yard ourselves over Labor Day weekend because the company failed to follow through. The work left behind was incomplete, messy, and showed little care for the property. What makes this worse is the lack of responsiveness. Despite repeated calls, texts, and emails between August 25 and September 4, 2025, we received little to no follow-up. The only person who has ever consistently communicated with us is Zach, a former manager who no longer even works for the company--yet he still showed more professionalism and care than the current management. It's disheartening to invest so much with a company and be met with this level of disregard. i needed tap roots cut out my drain line they showed up a day late, while starting to cut tree roots out with a 1-1/2 cutter in a 4" line pulled out some roots out in the first area but not the second then said he doesn't have a larger cutter and I need to put in a clean out outside for the sum of 4,800 to do the job, when asked why he wouldn't cut anymore he said he was basically there to evaluate the situation. after several extra changes and leaving black water on the carpet I called WATSON ROOTER, they came out put down a tarp on my carpet to use the clean out in the basement that Mr rooter said was not good enough to use a larger cutter (if he had one) and cleaned the line out to the main city sewer with the large cutter. read more

Extremely overpriced. Needed to get a section of rusted out drain line replaced. They didn't know how much needed to be jackhammered out and replaced. In the end it was about 3ft. Cost was 7k. I'll let the readers be the judge if it was a value with the cost breakdown. read more

I should have looked here before we hired them. They came to fix roots in the pipes. They told me after they did their work that they don't take responsibility for damaged irrigation pipes. They destroyed our irrigation pipes and then buried them so i can't even find where they broke them. I have spent $500 and counting on trying to fix their damage. They sent separate crews to do the work on two separate days. The second crew couldn't figure out why the first crew had done what they did. The first crew took the hose off the spigot and turned the water on and left. It ran for over two hours before we got home. Then they tried to blame us. I wish I had never hired them. read more

Mr Rooter is no longer trustworthy. I called them out for a routine snaking of our sewer line in early December 2023. The tech hit a root that the snake "could not clear" (or so he claimed). He sent his supervisor out to camera the line, and supervisor tried to convince me we had to replace that section of our sewer line (for $6800). I did not buy it. Although I had paid $295 for camera inspection (in addition to the snaking fee), it took 3 phone calls (and me voicing my frustration in the last call) to get a copy of the video. When I finally had the video, I showed it to another plumber, who assured me that I had indeed been scammed. He recommended another, locally owned rooter service, who cleared the line all the way to the city sewer with little difficulty and sent me a video of his inspection the very same day. I should note that the other service (Docs) and I also discovered during the camera inspection that Mr Rooter hadn't even touched the section of pipe running from the outdoor cleanout back to the house (I saw it, too, as he had me watch the inspection). That part of the line was full of roots!!! So he sent the snake in there and cleared the line all the way to the cast iron at the house. I have since heard from others that it is not uncommon for Mr Rooter to try this scam. My recommendation: call Doc's Drain Cleaning instead. And if you DO need to replace a line (water or sewer), call Joe Frei. Doc's and Joe Frei are fair and honest. *For the record, I am not getting any sort of payment or other incentive for recommending Doc's or Joe Frei. Just the satisfaction of them being honest and getting the job done. read more

The job was to include gutter and sidewalk repair once work was complete. They have not completed project. The gapping hole has washed down the street with rain... As we have waited for WEEKS for project to be completed. It is a safety hazard. No communication from Mister Rooter. I would NOT recommend them. Jason is nice, but then goes silent once project is to be completed. Hudson, (a supervisor) is harder to get in touch with. I will be seaking legal counsel. Zero stars. I am rating on the importance of follow up and customer service. Do not use this company if you ever need a follow up on anything. I had a home sale inspection that requested a clean and scope of the sewer line. Mr. Rooter provided the services. Prospective buyers needed more information on the results and I was provided an insufficient scope video of the sewer main. Buyers thought something was being covered up. A week of calls, messages, web page messages (because they have no direct email), pleading for help. When I spoke with a manager finally he said he had not heard anything about my requests until that moment. I don't know where the communication break down is within that company, but it is significant. I stressed the urgency of the matter to no avail. I did not EVER receive one call back. The only reason I ended up speaking with a manager was a result of me repeatedly calling them. Oh, and once when I called to request a supervisor or manager, the receptionist put me on a long hold to come back and say...and I quote "they are all either in the bathroom or out to lunch". read more

Thank you to Lisa P, whose previous review confirmed what I already thought was happening and that we were being taken advantage of. We had a blockage in our sewer line so we called Mr. Rooter, and had the same series of events Lisa described. First we were told it was too blocked so a supervisor would have to come back the next day. The next day he used the camera and very quickly determined it could not be resolved with the snake and equipment he had on him. My husband asked why he couldn't try hydrosnaking to which he replied "no we're going to do this the right way", then called his boss and gave us an on the spot quote of over 15k to excavate the sidewalk and into the street. The supervisor did not even see the camera footage or our property in person. Not to mention when he did the snake with the camera, sewage starting coming up and made a huge mess, and the cap to the clean out was not put on tightly enough and we woke up to sewage all over our sidewalk and into the street. Luckily, I read Lisa's review recommending Doc's Drain service, who came this morning and had it completely cleaned out and resolved within 30 minutes. Last time I used Mr. Rooter I had the same experience with them insisting on coming back multiple times, and never even attempting more than one intervention at a time. They also suggested digging up the whole yard last time we needed a blockage cleared. Never again! read more

I am a landlord and my tenant told me there was a leak going on, I called them, and they were able to get out in three days. It did take them 3 visits to diagnose the issue, but by the third trip and hole in my ceiling, everything was fixed. They are upfront about their costs and always get approval before starting work. If they don't do any work, they won't charge. They made it very simple for my to handle the issue being many states away. Will use them again! read more

Our bathtub faucet wouldn't shut off. I tried to fix it myself but couldn't get the cartridge to come out. Called Mr. Rooter they said I would get a confirmation phone call and someone would be out between 12-5. I never got a confirmation call and no one showed up. I called several times and was told they would put me on emergency status and still no phone call or someone to fix my problem. UPDATE: I received a phone call this morning, they apologized for the no response the previous day. They said they are having some issues with the calling service. I was told I would be receive a phone call when someone was on their way to my house between 11-1. I received a phone call before 11 and he said would be at my house within 30 minutes. I learned a new term .... SIP Sales person in disguise. You call them to come out to clear a clogged drain pipe and they are really there to upsell you. The first time they said we needed to replace the pipe to the street .... $6,000 later when it backed up again they said it was the plumbing under the house and that would cost $550.00. When it backed up again less than a week later, after setting an appointment for the next afternoon, they called at the start of the appointment time to say they would not come out unless we agreed to pay the $550 to change the pipe. Ended up calling a local company who came out and fixed it for a fraction of the price. so BUYER BEWARE. They are not there to clean your drain. They are there to upsell you a service you may or may not need and can almost guarantee you can get so much cheaper than their quote. So use them to clear a clog but tell them NO THANKS to the upsell. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! Wait for it! (Get a second opinion if it seems costly) I have been with Mr. Rooter for several years to service my house in downtown Colorado Springs. I even had the subscription service where I would get yearly inspections. I was fine with the service. I had a bathroom plumbing issue was charged $700 to repair and update and was given free repair after failure of work was found later.. still kept them no problems. Older Old North End 2bd. 1 bath home. Drains back up due to the old ceramic sewer lines put in early 1900's and the elm trees that flourish the city. Line backs up, Mr. Rooter is quick to come out and service the line, but they find a new line with the camera that is completely clogged.. Ok... "Well Sir, we need to dig up the line and replace it to get your service flowing again." Ok.. how much, "$9000" WTF.. what? "Well got the boss to drop it $800, but we will need 1/2 up front and second 1/2 after the work is done. We have to hand dig to replace it. Maybe a day to complete." I had the money to put up barely, and made a deposit. A close friend I had spoken to later said this is how the big companies get you. Yes, the work done would have solved the problem, but because I was in dire need to get the problem solved, I would reach down and pull out savings to save the sewer line... I called ***** T**O**M*** and said I dont want the service done dont come on the property to complete it. I had another provider send their root cutting machine through the sewer lines and they wear able to get the line running smoothly again.. I asked for my money back. I paid $4500 on Jan 9th, refused service Jan 10th and have not received any payment back as of Jan14th, tried stop payment with Wells Fargo, and have called everyday to ask about getting my money back from this very wealthy organization...there are some ancient bystanders that take calls, work the shovels, maybe even are supervisors, like Tom, but still this is a big corporation willing to make assessments that? Or maybe line *****Chelsea****.. he says he is honest.. but with his self or others, I don't know... if you get a big number estimate from them.. TAKE MY FRIENDS ADVICE... get a second opinion. read more

The waterline into our house broke early yesterday morning. Mr. Rooter was recommended and Robby came out to asses the situation and determined that he could find and fix the leak. He brought in a mini excavator and soon had the hole dug and the new parts in place. It really was amazing and that he had it done within a few hours of us finding and calling him is remarkable!! read more

Without a doubt, I was scammed by this company and by Tom the contractor. I called them out because of a flooded toilet, they dug up and supposedly replaced all the piping in the back yard but really they just needed to snake the drain because it was fairly new piping out there. My neighbor was home when the crew arrived, and said they were just standing around most the time anyway and they definitely didn't pull a permit because there was no tamping done when they filled the hole and the city never came back out to inspect. I guess I'm grateful at least that none of my dogs fell in the hole and got hurt, although they did leave the fence in and let my dog out at one point. But what really pissed me off is they messed with a wire down there that connects to my water heater, so I didn't have hot water for a week and at first they acted like they didn't know anything about it and it was all a coincidence. After all was said and done they charged us $6800 and I had to pay an electrician another $450 just to fix their damages. I had to put it on credit.I don't mean to sound dramatic, but hopefully this review saves someone from becoming Tom's next unknowing mark. read more

I've been using Mr. Rooter now since 2013 for all of my plumbing needs and they have never failed me. The pricing is always fair and I trust them in my residence. Larry specifically has been assigned to us since the beginning and he's fantastic! I've gone through a few houses now, fixing them up and moving to the next, all of them 70+ year old homes and Larry has always handled those intricate and unique jobs with ease. They came over a day late but I guess they are busy. The Guy put a new pix valve in my garage and it took about 2 hours and cost about 325$ So you figure about 150 an hour. Seems like a lot but costs 100$ an hour to run a truck so not terrible. The guy was cool and did what I asked. Mr Rooter gets better grade of parts than the homedepot knock off parts so you really are getting a different type of repair. read more

This company is awful! I strongly believe they did everything they could to rip me off!! I had them come snake my main line because I had a back up. They told me they couldn't snake it at all and kept getting stuck and that their supervisor had to come out and scope the line. So I had to pay $390 for what I assumed was an unsuccessful snaking and a scope of the lines. Supervisor came out, nice guy, but told me that my line near the road was "completely blocked with tree roots and I could only get a tiny hole through it" and that it is going to cost $13,500 to dig a trench and replace the line with a fiberglass lining. Made me feel like I had no choice. I said I couldn't afford that and he sat around waiting while I called my husband at work and he made some calls. I told him he could leave because I won't be able to get an answer right now. He finally did after like an hour of waiting in his van. They also never showed me video or anything of this supposed blockage. Fast forward, I had another company come out today (2 days later) for a second opinion. The second company SHOWED me the entire time and it is most certainly NOT completely blocked. There is a small little spot of tree roots sitting near the tap. And then the cast iron piping under my house is starting to get rough and is catching toilet paper, so there was some toilet paper balls caught on it. Said eventually in the near future we might want to think about replacing that pipe under the house, and could fix just joint by the tap. For $8k. Mr. Rooter doesn't care about their customers or people's well being and livelihood! They only care about money and lying to get it!! read more

Very unfortunate change in quality. I have exclusively used this company over the last 5 years for all work performed at 4 different properties, including an entire home remodel (new pex plumbing throughout, vanities, toilets, shower valves, clean outs, scopes, lift station)-you name it. This company used to be amazing. A simple phone call got you in contact with a knowledgeable team member quickly and thus scheduling and payments were straight forward and easy. Unfortunately, they seem to have become more overpriced than ever with minimal if any discount for returning loyal customers and increasing confusion of the office personnel. What used to be a 5 star company everyday of the week has fallen to 2 at best. I would not recommend this company in their current state of operation.
