I waited in line for a while and when we got to the front (we were just looking for a snack), we saw that they only had a few snacks and cakes available. We grabbed two of the butter tarts and they were super nice, boxed everything for us and then put it into a paper bag. Wow, the raisin butter tarts were amazing! I usually personally do not like butter tarts, but wow, the crust was so flakey, full and buttery. I couldn't get enough of it. The raisin and the inside was also tasty, but the crust stole the show for me. I am so glad I went and can't wait for the next time I get to go!

I was there 5 minutes after opening and was so disappointed! they only had two kinds of tarts (butter tart and pecan butter tart) a few kinds of cookies, one kind of bar and a few whole cakes. they had a cheesecake with a few slices left in it that looks dried up around the edges, one other pre sliced cake and a "day old" in the same case for sale. was quite strange and I chose not to get anything. I had been on their website and was ready to buy several things to try, I guess you have to pre-order them all as the only option? It was overall unappetizing and looked more like end of day display than fresh opening display. I even almost asked if what was on display was made today but just decided to leave.

But they had a decent selection of flavors, that were brightly colored (could be good, or could be bad, depending on what they use). We got a box of 8 and tasted a few flavors. Some were really "bright" flavors. I found the raspberry chocolate was so good and vibrant in color and flavor. But the M&M flavor, meh, skip it and get the salted caramel. But If I was in the area and I wanted a macron, I would come here again. If we had more time we would have sat in for tea, but we didn't. I would like to try that again with tea and get the whole experience. Parking is street parking. Placed seemed clean. It's small but lovely and cute.

Absolutely amazing food, highly recommend!…read more I wouldn't have been able to tell it was gluten free had I not been told. We got the pistachio croissant and the chocolate hazelnut puff pastry in addition to the golden latte and apple caramel fog latte. Both lattes are not caffeinated and absolutely the most delicious, some of the best we have had. The apple caramel fog was one of the most unique drinks I have had in my life. I don't even like caramel but this was so good. It was like a caramel apple or apple caramel pie in drink form. I cannot recommend it enough. It's absolutely worth coming out here just for this. The pistachio croissant and chocolate hazelnut puff pastry were also very solid. We enjoyed both. Pastel & coco shines in every capacity, a perfect rating from me. Love this place, don't wait and check it out!

When I got to the front, I saw a summer feature menu and was pulled in. I was excited to try one of their summer features: the blueberry matcha particularly since I had never tried one before. Unfortunately, I think I received a regular matcha or they didn't hear me say "aux bleuets" because there was no blueberry in sight or in flavour It was also a bit too watery for me perhaps because I opted to try it with coconut milk since the almond or oat milk options came with a 50 cent additional charge. I'd pass on this. However the redeeming quality was their matcha raspberry muffin! It was a 5/5 and probably the best vegan muffin I've had (or even muffin in general). It had the perfect moistness and texture with bits of raspberry and chocolate chips. Though it was a bit more pricy at $4.75, the quality was amazing and I'd love to go back and try some of their other baked goods. Overall, a very quaint spot attached to Astoria Bistro and located by many offices, I'd say their vegan baked goods would seem to be the highlight.

I was somewhat excited when I heard about the first COBS Bread opening up in Ottawa a few years…read moreago. However, my excitement fizzled somewhat when I found out it was going to be in Barrhaven. Nothing wrong with Barrhaven, it's just a part of town that I rarely find myself in. And honestly, I wasn't about to make a special trip down there to visit a chain bakery, even it was a new-to-me chain. So I never went. Fast forward a few years, and in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic, they opened up a location in Orleans with little fanfare. I didn't hear about it on social media and only discovered it as I was driving to visit my parents and saw it out of the corner of my eye. Since I'm in Orleans like all the time, I finally got to try COBS Bread. Overall, it was good for a chain bakery. The prices for the croissants are a bit high in my opinion, but scones and their "teatime" pull-apart brioche are reasonable priced. So COBS Bread is the Canadian branch of Bakers Delight, an Australian chain. Most of their Canadian locations started out west in Alberta and British Columbia, but they have since moved east to Ontario. We don't have too many chain bakeries here in Ottawa, the other one that I can think of is Michel's Baguette. COBS Bread is definitely not as fragrant a bakery as Michel's Baguette, but they have similarities. There's a lot of selection. I ended up getting a Wild Blueberry and Custard Teatime ($6.49), 2 cheddar cheese and chives scones ($2.65 each) and 2 chocolate croissants ($3.75 each). The Blueberry and Custard Teatime was good. It's essentially a brioche, pull-apart style. It was soft and moist. I didn't taste too much custard though, just blueberry. It wasn't overly sweet. I enjoyed it. The cheddar scone was also good. It wasn't all that fluffy, but still tasty. Not too much cheddar flavour though. I didn't try the croissants because these were a treat for my little nieces, but I found them small for the price. Service was friendly. The bakery is really small and it's hard to see the selection when other customers are blocking the display. The bakery is in a plaza so there's lots of free parking.

I heard their cones can be sweet depending what you get, so I originally wanted to get a kiddie size, but they don't "kookie cone" that size, so I went with the small. The small is more like a large. It is shareable, if you like sharing your ice cream cone. I'm not a good sharer, but by the end of this cone, I was trying to pond it off to my husband. It was just too much. I got the chocolate hazelnut. He got the cotton candy. Both were good. This location is in a strip mall. They have a patio in the back where you can enjoy your ice cream. I personally like walking or going to a park to eat mine, so we drove up the closest place of greenery, which was in front of a hydro Ottawa building and ate our ice cream there. If this place was in a more convenient location, i'd probably go back, but for me it wasn't worth the hype or the drive. It's more of a once a year, type of treat.
