When I showed up, they had my car in and out within the timeframe they gave me when I called them up. The waiting area is clean and well lit, and there is a tv if you have to wait with little ones. Alex took the time to explain to me what the various services he offered provided, as well as answering all of my questions. The pricing was fair and transparent. The first time, they replaced a spark plug, costing me about $200. Two weeks later, the light returned. This time a $687 repair for a completely different issue. Less than two weeks after that, the light came on again. On my third visit, even though their posted opening time is 9 a.m., the technician, Randy, didn't actually show up until after 9:08. He was rude, didn't greet me, and dismissed my concerns instead of offering any apology or empathy. He handed me a paper with another new code and quoted labor costs of $160, with no parts even required. Despite their supposed warranty, I've had to return repeatedly. Each time, a new code, a new cost, and dismissive treatment. Randy even remarked that my car is old and implied I should expect ongoing issues. Yet this doesn't excuse poor service. If I could give zero stars, I would. I can't recommend this shop to anyone looking for accountability or respect.

I explained my experience, he apologized for the misunderstanding on the shop's end, and provided me a refund for the overcharge. He also offered mechanic advice should I need any in the future - even if I didn't go with his shop. My family has used the shop before and had a good experience so I do believe my experience was a fluke. I respect the fact that he made the situation right, it shows he takes pride in his shop and values his customers.

Eddie, the son's owner was willing to stay after hours to wait for my car to be dropped in their garage. AAA took over 2.5hrs to get to the garage, I dropped the key in the slot. I wasn't from Upland, had to pay for a hotel, pay for my food and my lfyt rides to get an around. We had unknown engine problems, there was a knocking sound in the engine, and our lights were out. Mike quoted us a price, fixed the car and had it back in one day, before Xmas, and under the price he quoted us. Now, I'm sure that's good sales tactics, 'quote high and bill low' but there were a few things he could have done to the car... that I asked him to do, that didn't need to be done. I asked him to replace the fog lights but they were working properly and don't need it (my d.a. didn't know there was a trick to turning them on!). I also asked for a quote for shocks and struts as the guys from "Bep Poys" have been telling me I need to get done. His quote was half of the price I got from "my three best friends," and he said he's going to shop for a better/lower price for the parts. We also had a great conversation about things other than car repair: archeology, theology, family, vintage cars, and the holidays. We had a few similar opinions and a few different but we had a great, intelligent conversation about a lot of interesting subjects. I really like the fact that my new mechanic has an honest and efficient shop and a thoughtful, say knowledgeable, and reasonable head on his shoulders. We came to Express Smog & Lube in Montclair a couple weeks ago. This place does more than smog and lube. They also do car repairs. One stop shop for your car maintenance needs! We spoke with George, the owner. He was very nice and helpful. He explained the process he would take to assess the leak and what would be entailed to fix it. Thank you George for taking the time to speak with us and sharing good information. Today I called them to schedule an appointment. I spoke with Danny. He was very kind and helpful. He provided specific instructions via videos on what we need to do when dropping off the vehicle. His extra attention and care was much appreciated. Thank you Danny for your time and efforts. Not only did Lee make recommendations for my daughters safety, he also spent time after the phone call researching my make/model to see if there was any other published data about this car. I've been using Lee exclusively for a long time and he has always done right by me and both of my daughters have benefited from his honesty and ability to go above and beyond.
