Love Mr Pack Rat! Matt came out for initial visit on a Monday, then the traps were set the following Monday. Matt's team did a great job - took out old cactus (but left me some pads for replanting), and did a beautiful job deconstructing and rebuilding my wood pile. These guys are experts and worth every cent. Do yourself a favor, don't let your exterminator "take care" of your pack rat issue. I did, and it was a waste of money. New to the area but we had read a lot about pack rats and their behaviors. When I noticed a chewed hole in outdoor stucco, I did not want to delay. A nice woman asked a few questions and set up the appointment for a few day later. (A no-charge inspection appointment which I was happy about.). The specialist who came out was named Wendell and he was awesome. Very knowledgeable and friendly and took care of our rodent problem over the course of 4 days. Set and emptied traps and fixed and caulked any openings he found. We felt the price was very fair and would not hesitate to call Mr. Pack Rat again (although I hope we don't have to). When we first noticed we had packrats entering our home, I tried to fix the problem myself. I grew to regret that decision. After failing to eradicate them I called in Mr Pack Rat, and they had the varmints eliminated in several days. They found the point of entry, trapped the rats that had entered our home, and patched the entry point with hardware cloth to prevent further gnawing. The technician was knowledgeable and very professional. After about a year we noticed gnawing sounds at night again. We immediately called out Mr Pack Rat, and they affirmed that the original patch was still holding. This inspection was done at no charge. A few days later I found the new entry point (see photo). The tech came out, trapped for several days and affirmed that no rats were left inside the walls. I like the fact that they are able to work independently, particularly on return visits. You don't have to be home when they do their work. This makes scheduling a lot easier. We have used a lot of contractors for landscaping, home repair, etc. and we find Mr Pack Rat one of the best to deal with. I really like their website with the online work request and billing. These are the pack rat experts! Did an assessment of our property to understand where our pack rat problems were and what could be done about the problems. He was open about dealing with the pack rats in the spanish roofing tile, and that they cannot garuntee the work because they could not find the entry point into the house. What resulted was setting traps and cleaning up the nest. The next morning the trap had a packrat, and since then we have not heard one in our house. He was meticulous with the cleaning, and was flexible to work around my schedule (showing up at 6am to check traps). He gave us the knowledge and details we need to help keep our property pack rat free. Pack rats are part of the deal when you live alongside a wash area, and though we love spotting their middens along the trail, we're not quite as enthusiastic when the occasional rat tries to nest alongside the structure of our home. I had a pack rat nest next to my pool pump, Mr Pack Rat was recommended. There was a nest formed because I left a pool filter out, I was told they would set a trap & remove all the materials. 1 trap set, next day he came out, took away the nest material & the rat but threw the pool filter over a small wall 2 feet from where it was, then set 2 more traps, came back the next day and took them away. Yes they caught 3 pack rats & took them away but another nest could easily be built from the same filter that was left. I am to pay $165 for 2 traps set up, maybe 20 minutes to remove nest material. If I knew that was all he would do I could have done it myself. Would not recommend or get in writing exactly what he was going to do. UPDATE: I have changed from 1 star to 5 stars for being a business that really does care about their customers satisfaction and I appreciate the owner, kris, reaching out to me. We had noticed pack rat activity and had a landscaper clean up our yard. Another pest company had been hired and done some work, but it was not enough. After unsuccessful attempts to contact previous company, I set up a meeting with Mr Pack Rat on the website, which was quite easy and convenient. The Mr Pack Rat website is full of helpful information, too. Mr Pack Rat called when he was close, which I appreciate. He walked around our property with me and made some suggestions. After I set up the meeting and before Mr Pack Rat came over, the previous company came out and fortified their earlier work. I thought about cancelling, but we decided it would be a good idea to get a second opinion. The agent that came out was friendly and knowledgeable. Great experience. We had been trying to get rid of, what we thought was one, pack rat for months. We called the pros and they found we had more like 7 pack rats! Eric showed up on time and explained alot about their habits that I was'nt aware of. Great Work and very affordable. I called Mr. Pack Rat to help with a problem with some type of Animal in the Crawl space of one of our Senior Clients homes. I very much appreciate the team at mr pack rat. I had them come to my home following a "definitely you have pick rats" from AZ pest control. The team was very thorough. Checking under shrubs, around the ac unit, and every hole in the yard. All to come to the conclusion that a pack rat had just passed by and no nest was made. They recommended I spray pine sol in the yard to neutralize the area and that's it. They didn't charge me nor did they try to up-sell. If I ever have an issue in the future I'd definitely recommend and use mr pack rat. read more

I would give this company a 10 if I could based on the service that Eric provided. We had pack rats under our pool heater, plus we have a dog so we didn't want to put out poison or traps. We called Mr. Pack Rat and they were able to come within a few days. Set up a "catch" trap with a "dog box" on top of it to keep our pet from getting into it. When he came back the next day he had caught two large Pack Rats. Set up another trap to be sure, then after another day, he came back and installed a metal grid barrier around the base of our pool heater but left a small opening. He saw evidence that a smaller critter had entered the trap and was able to sneak out of the box (indicating a smaller animal). He will return in a few days to see if he caught anything else and then he will close up the barrier around the heater equipment. He told us what to watch for and how to keep from providing hiding place for these little critters. Highly professional, efficient, friendly, called every time he was on his way, and I believe the service he provided was above and beyond the price that we paid. Purchased a new home and after closing we found out that we had a pack rat issue (the little critters ate through hundreds of dollars of wiring on our pool equipment, which of course had to be replaced). Mr. Pack Rat's crew came right out and assessed the problem and provided immediate resolution. They expertly trapped 2 very large rats at 2 nest sites. We had several pack rat infestations, one under a shed, another under our A/C units and a couple of more behind and near the house in the wash. We contacted Mr Pack Rat, and their technician,Wendell, came within just a few days. He set the traps at the shed and A/C units, returned the next day, collected the trapped critters and laid hardware cloth screening around the units to prevent further nesting. After watching how it was done, I volunteered to screen the base of the shed following Wendell's direction. It's been over a month with no recurring pack rat problems. The other two nests in the wash were similarly taken care of and all the nest debris hauled away. These Mr Pack Rat folks know what they're doing. If you have pack rats, Mr. Pack Rat's Service is the one to use, hands down! The website is amazing and gives much information about pack rats and prevention. I highly recommend the Deterscape service as it keeps pack rats to a minimum and if any are found, they are trapped and removed under the service agreement. I also just had an issue with being left off of their deterscape rotation list, and my contract was immediately extended and a technician was out to the house in the next couple of days dealing with one pack rat nest that had appeared on the property. Also, you DO NOT want pack rat nests on your property as they attract rattle snakes and "kissing bugs" (triatomine bugs, a type of reduviid bug that can carry Trypanosoma cruzi, the parasite that causes Chagas disease). Chagas disease can be contracted by humans and pets. If you don't know about this infection, you should definitely look it up and make sure that you don't have "kissing bugs" around your property. In addition, my standard poodle got bit by a rattle snake that was attracted to a pack rat nest near my walled, snake fenced, back patio when I first moved to Tucson. Luckily, I realized immediately what had happened and took the dog for anti-venom and all was well, but it was a good reminder not to be too careful about removing pack rat nests especially where pets roam. I called Mr. Pack Rat immediately and have been working with his services for the past 4 years and have been very satisfied.
