Was looking forward to a nice steak dinner. Started off with a peach bellini, looked amazing, had very little flavour and hard to believe there was 2 oz of any kind of alcohol in it. Followed this by the cauliflower appetizer, sounded good, but was disappointing. Very small appetizer and cost over $11! Husband had the lobster salad, he said it was pretty good. I splurged for the filet mignon (visions of the Keg dancing in my head) and was quite disappointed, very flat and small but the flavour was ok. It was surrounded by a few over cooked carrots and less than stellar, somewhat gummy "garlic" mashed potatoes. Definitely NOT worth the $80 food bill. Never again... read more

Worst... service... ever. I'm posting this review late because I totally forgot I never reviewed it and they are not deserving of their 3 stars on here. So, this happened in Mid-May 2011. The men's bathroom was disgusting. I told the bus boy (as our waitress was nowhere to be found) and he checked. He agreed with me yet an hour later, nothing had been done to rectify the problem. I asked to talk to the manager. Apparently the real manager was not their and our completely incompetent waitress was the acting manager. My mother was a waitress for decades. I have worked in a restaurant in both front and back of house. This was just shameful. When we told the waitress/failed-manager about this, she had us escorted out of the restaurant... AFTER we paid our bill. Obviously we left no tip. We e-mailed the chain and left a formal complaint. Weeks after the fact, when my wife and I had begun our drive from Vancouver to Montreal, we received a call from the general manager who apologized profusely and offered us a free meal. Not good enough. 1, we're moving to Montreal. 2, I would never willingly go there again. Avoid this place. It's bad beyond bad. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch a few days ago. He got a burger and I got the mountain club chicken sandwich. The food was yummy and a perfect portion. Will not go back for lunch since it came to almost $40, refills on drinks are charged each time ( Almost $7 for two Pepsi) plus the sandwich and burger were both around $14-$15. My friend and I decided to come here for a girl's night. After being seated, we waited a good 10 minutes just for the waitress to come take our drink order. Our drinks took forever to come, in the time it took the table of 4 behind us ordered their drinks and got theirs before us. We decided to just order some appies to split. We got the spinach dip and the steak bites. Spinach dip was bland and not very good. Steak bites were chewy. We were still hungry and decided to order something else. We asked for another menu and the waitress gave us a funny look and said "A food menu? to order more food?" Umm yes. We got an order of the potato skins. Not very good either. I won a 25$ gift certificate to this place and have been wanting to try it out and this was a perfect excuse. First time here, didn't have high expectations for this place. We were seated right away to a booth. The servers are very kind and super easy going. The drink that I ordered myself was HUGE, as in fish bowl sized( good to share with friend or if you've had a long day). The deep fried pickles were my fave and the artichoke dip was good too! I've tried this place twice for steak. Neither time they cooked my steak correctly. The first time they undercooked my medium rare as rare and the second time they undercooked my rare as blue rare. For a place that has steak in their name they're awfully bad at cooking steak. To be honest the rare steak I ordered was so bad it could possibly be in the running for one of the worst steaks I've ever had. It was cold, chewy, difficult to cut, burnt on the outside, not juicy and now my stomach hurts. The highlight of my steak meal were the carrots. Which should say a lot. Lost a long time customer today. Overpriced food already, but now they charge 2.49 for an ounce of gravy which I could suck up and pay, but this time they also added .50 for mustard on my burger. That prefab prefrozen burger and fries with only water to drink and tip cost $25. Family of 5 going out for a Friday dinner. We usually go to the Keg but wanted to try something different. Service was just average. Food was fair. Burgers seemed just ok and same with my wife's steak. I had the spicy chicken which wasn't great at all. Overall disappointed and won't be returning. Keg is a bit more money but well worth it. We were running errands in the area and after realizing other similar restaurants in the area were 1-1.75 hr waits on this Friday night around prime dinner time. We decided to check them out. My son ran in checked they said 10-15 mins and indeed it was only 5 mins we were seated drinks and appetizer order was taken immediately and served quite quickly. The planco shrimp and mikes spin dip as well as mini mikes all quite tasty. But the delay from appetizer to main course was quite substantial pushing 30 mins. The mains arrived and were perfectly prepared,my steak was a spot on medium well as I requested, my sons rib eye beef dip was good and our side were perfect temperature. Then to my surprise without saying anything we were apologized to and offered desserts on the house for the delay with the main dishes. In there defence I did order the biggest rib eye they have on the menu. At 16oz I'm sure it takes some time to cook. Seriously dissapointed by my experience at this location. Nothing to do with our waitress she was kind and attentive. Atmosphere was dusty and tables were sticky. Dissapointed that everything we ordered was either out or something had to be changed. Even the appetizer was botched (ordered deep friend pickles and jalapeno and they were out of jalepeno). None of really liked our meals (of course they weren't the original meals we ordered because they were out of the sauce they needed for the pasta)...the sauce on the stirfry my husband had was unusually sweet. I wanted nachos and didn't want the meat so I asked for sour cream and salsa INSTEAD of meat and they actually charged me extra for the condiments even though I didn't have any meat or the chili lime sauce. Kids meals are overpriced because usually they get ice cream or small treat included in kids meal (99 cents more to add cream or $1.99 for mini churro). No A/C, little ventilation inside,... most uncomfortable. Long wait (40 mins.) for order, was asked BEFORE tasting (when she delivered) how it was. Never re-checked our table again. (The requested well done steak was severely overcooked ... dry, hard, difficult to even cut!. Other requested "medium rare" was very Well Done) Child-size embarassing portions on plate. Sparse amount of dry fries (better at Costco) and "2" meager onion rings. Our empty water glasses stayed at edge of table for long time,.. until we stopped server, requesting refill. ( 2nd glasses of basic water was WARM,.. not even iced, nor cool. Undrinkable) As dessert was served/delivered, the server gave us our bill THEN. We had not started dessert and felt it was rude and rushing us. All in all, doubt we would return to Mr. Mike's. Recap: Between long wait for food, horribly cooked so-call steaks, getting warm tap water for long awaiting obvious empty glasses .. then bill placed on table same time dessert was served, not to mention no attendance during meal, it was definitely not enjoyable dining. Wow we finally find a place we like and they have to ruin it!!!! Why??? We loved the lodgey feel of the lounge at mr mikes. It was comfortable. It was different and had Different seating options . Mostly comfortable low tables. We went recently after a few months absence and they had renovated. The lounge was now some slippery floor with all the same high top tables and cheap hard uncomfortable stools. IKEA? They all looked the same and the lounge looked like every other boring restaurant in town. It was really awful. Loud and not the kind of place we like. The lighting was so dark we could not read the menus. Just stupid don't they test those kind of things? There are new drinks. Do not try the appletini unless you bring your dentist with you. I'm not sure how they can get that much sugar in a liquid drjnk. The mike burger was the same but the fries were soggy. Shrimp tacos are good but their house salad is just not my thing. I want a nice fresh green salad. Not some fruit and nut deal. The washroom stall as are too small as were the urinal booths. My husband said they are not even up to code and he's a construction inspector. They restaurant side was renovated too but somehow it still Looks the same. My boyfriend and I have been here several times. I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews as every single time we've been we received excellent service and the god has been delicious. I really like the cost "lodge" atmosphere with all the outdoorsy decor on the walls. It makes for the perfect setting to eat the delicious beef dip or chicken burger. Of course I can't fail to mention the vancouver island iced tea that is my favorite to order almost every time we go. I was wearing running shoes. I needed food. I crossed the street towards the mall and found this next to an A&W (fuck that). Sat down at a booth and the waiter asked how I was. The snow and the slush had sucked the happiness from my soul and I didn't have the joie de vivre to keep up appearances. I told the truth. My feet were soaking wet and I was miserable. Me MIKES is a local restaurant chain, that I've been going to since the late 1970s. Back then, with your char broiled Mikeburger, you got all you can eat salad bar, all you can eat ice cream and toppings, and bottomless pop! Quite a lot for a young boy to take in, but was always enjoyed! It was also well known for its steaks. Now the restaurant is back, redone as a casual restaurant, with multiple locations. Every once in awhile, I have a hankering for an old skool Classic Mikeburger, so I usually end up here at the Coquitlam location. I've been multiple times over the years, and have never had a problem with service, cleanliness, or any issues with the food. I always go for the Classic Mikeburger, and yam fries, which I swear are the best I've had anywhere! The char broiled patty gives the burger a very unique taste, one I can't seem to find at very many places? The bun is almost like a piece of garlic bread. This may sound odd, but trust me, it's very good! I also enjoy their house brand beer, usually served in a 20oz stein. They have some good deals often on these giant beers. The prices are very comparable to other places like this. I enjoy sitting in the lounge area, as it's like being at a pub, and is a very casual setting. Always had polite, attentive service. So if you are craving an awesome burger, I'd suggest giving Mr MIKES a try, and go for the Classic Mikeburger , you can't go wrong! read more

The food is always good and consistent. The manager comes by to every table and tries to strike up conversation as a pleasant touch. It is a restaurant I can count on to be consistent in the quality of it's food and service, both of which are quite good. It seems to be a popular spot as it has always been busy when we were there. And the prices are reasonable. My only complaint is that it cost $2 and change for 1 piece of garlic bread. If one word could describe my experience at this restaurant, it would be disappointment. Nothing to do with the waitresses, they were kind and attentive. Honestly if I could give less than 1 star I would. This place is absolutely terrible. They claim that their steaks are 28 1/2 days dry aged, yet after eating a ribeye steak, the customer realizes he/she paid $35 to eat complete utter trash. My friend and I ordered 2 rib eye steaks and when we got out dishes, mines resembled an actual rib eye while his resembled a sirloin steak (obviously a lower cut). We decided to ignore this fact as we didn't notice the large difference between the two steaks until we cut them open and tasted them. Absolutely tasteless and when we specifically asked for medium rare we were given well done steaks. When we complained about the steaks, the manger claimed that it was in fact a ribeye despite having little to no fat and having COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GRILL MARKS. He didn't even apologize on behalf of the restaurant that we had been given steaks that were wrongly cooked, of different cuts, or offer to remake our steaks. I may not be a manager;however, I do know understand that it is the duty of a manager to oversee if customers are enjoying their food and fixing any problems that should occur, overall making sure that a customer will want to RETURN to the restaurant and not leave and never come back. Wondering why we had not been seated it was frustrating however it got a lot more frustrating when we sat at our table for 10 minutes (husband decided to time it after a few minutes of absolutely no acknowledgement) without the waitress evening stopping in to say hello. Then the people who were seated about 5 minutes after us were taken care of by the staff. At this point it was game over, we left. Being a Yank, this was my first visit of Mr. Mike's. The atmosphere, after some discussion between The Wife and I, is a just shy of kitsch Pacific NW lodge. We were looking for a light bite after a soccer match and found Mr. Mike's met that need. A seafood salad served with a grapefruit vinaigrette was a delightful change of pace while The Wife's deep fried prawns were tasty and plentiful. Came here for dinner. Service was terrible because I had like 4 different servers. Food was alright but I could most definitely go anywhere similar to get better.
