Got an oil change while on vacation, needed it to take less than an hour. Pros: Up front about the potential 20+ minute wait, actually shorter than expected, out with time to spare in my day. They double checked at the end (made me rev the engine) to confirm the oil seal was tight. How did they know that plagued me in the past? Professional and thorough. I sat in my car the entire time even! That's a first for me. Con: Price. It's high. I don't have much to compare to in Canada, but it's a lot more than I'd pay in the USA even after converting CAD to USD. So it goes. As soon as I drove up to the door, a lovely lady came over to great me with some paperwork and to offer a newspaper to read while I was waiting. As I was ushered in, the technician greeted me with the same level of genuine friendliness. It was evident that it is something they stress with their employees. They changed the oil, but much more...they checked a lot of different elements and taught me a little about my car. My car is fairly new to me, and they answered my questions patiently and thoroughly. I'm now a huge fan and won't be going anyplace else. If you own a business.....go and be wowed. Take notes. I waited 45 mins only to be told they couldn't change my spark plugs. I understand that sometimes you can't render a service, but I drive a 2011 base model Jetta and would have been rather been told up front they couldn't do it. Well, after reading a bunch of bad reviews of this place while sitting in the parking lot waiting for my turn, I sucked it up and drove my car into the bay. I needed to get my summer tires put on. I called around but every garage was booking appointments weeks in advance and I didn't have time for that. The best thing about Mr. Lube is that they don't take appointments, so you can get your tires changed asap! You might have to wait a bit, but it's worth it for same day service. I live a pretty busy lifestyle and more often than not, I don't have time to schedule out junk like tire changes in advance. I was in luck on a Wednesday afternoon, after only waiting about 15 minutes I was waved into bay 3 and the process began. It took about 15 mins or less to change my tires (which were not on rims). I was lucky that it was slow and three guys were able to work on my car at once. Not to mention someone cleaned my windows and sprayed my overly squeaky doors with lube while my tires were being changed. The tire change cost me about $106 and I was in and out within a half hour. I'm over the moon with the speed of service here. Plus, free wifi while you wait! I was also offered coffee, hot coco or water with a newspaper. You can't beat that. read more

I've been here on 3 occasions and each time, I left not completely satisfied with my experience. The first time, I was in with my minivan for just an oil change. They were very nice and did all the extras such as top up fluids, lube hinges etc. They tested my battery and informed me that it need to be replaced (they also showed me the printout so I believed them). They told me the cost to have them change it and I declined as I can pick up a battery and change it in minutes for half the price. She then told me that changing the battery should be left to professionals. I kinda laughed and told her no again. She then started telling all the scenarios when my battery could fail and I should replace it ASAP before I find myself stranded. I told her "that's what CAA is for" and that was the end of it. She also tried to push the engine flush, wipers and anything else she could think of. The second time I was in there I had my truck. The oil change went well but told me that both my diff fluids need to be changed as well as my transfer case and transmission. Knowing enough about my truck and having a neighbor who is a licensed Mechanic ( none of the techs are actual licensed mechanics) I knew all my fluids were in good condition. I also pointed out that my left rear tire was low and needed around 5lbs added. She said no problem and I seen a tech with the air house so I thought this was taken care of and also showed on my invoice that it was done. Once I got home I double checked the pressure and realized they didn't add any air! On top of that, they didn't top up my druids, lube hinges etc, even though it said on the invoice that they did. When I mentioned this, she just said "oh" and proceeded to complete the service. My third and final trip I needed a tire rotation and although I had negative experiences prior to this, I really needed it done and thought to myself "it's a tire rotation, a monkey could do this!" Well maybe a monkey could, but 3 techs couldn't even get this right. That's right, it took 3 techs to rotate my tires! I knew something was up when they raised and lowered my truck 6 times before they got it in the right position! I did get them to balance my wheels since it's been over 2 years since it was last done. Well when I got home, I was truly outraged. Not only did they spray WD40 on my lug nuts and all over my polished chrome rims, 2 of my wheels never even got rotated! How is that even possible. I ended up buying some jack stands and finishing the job myself. At least I know it's done right. Bottom line. I'd rather wait for an appointment and have to drop my vehicle off for the day then go back to these clowns. Rant is over! read more

I was greeted by one employee, who asked if I was there for an oil change, I said yes. She helped me into the garage, helped me drive in and then handed me off to another employee so she could help the next customer into another bay. My service was not all that exceptional- the technician on floor asked if I wanted a coffee, I said yes, he asked what in it, I said black. I DIDN'T get it (didn't bother asking). It appeared there was only one employee under for all three bays as "start check on bay one" was unresponsive, as it sounded like they were busy at another bay. Both technicians seemed really rushed as the one under the bay was rude during the RPM check to the one on the floor. Many things on the invoice were false. It said they lubed my hinges and topped up my windshield fluid, but they did not. It said my tires were filled to 40 PSI. I checked them after the service and they were reading at 35 PSI. Also, apparently there was "no point" in checking my transmission fluid and coolant fluid as my car is "too high of mileage" for them to even be serviced (which I agree with and wouldn't bother getting them serviced). Very Sloppy Service. A Pro: They actually didn't pressure me into anything when I simply said no (wanted a fuel system flush and new filter). Comparing to Moncton's location (I'm travelling for my job), the service was horrible! May not be a Mr. Lube customer any more! read more

On May 28th/2020 I took my truck which is 1992 ford f150 pickup 8cyl 5.0L to the Mr lube location at 565 Portland Street Dartmouth Nova Scotia to have a basic oil change done the staff was great and complimented me on how good of shape my truck was in for being 28 years old. They finished the oil change and I paid them 59.78 and thanked them and left figuring there a lube place they knew what they were doing. This is where things go downhill. On June 16th/2020 i was driving the truck on my way to work and all of a sudden i lost all oil pressure and the engine started knocking i pulled over checked the oil it was full and realized at that point the truck had the wrong oil filter on it. I looked at the receipt which indicated they put a ph400 which is a luberfiner filter manufactured by a company called Champion laboratories inc. but in actual fact they put an fl400s which is a motorcraft filter manufactured by Purolator.While the ph400 filter is recommended for my particular truck the fl400s is not manufactured recommended for the truck. I then parked the truck at my moms house for the night till i could call Mr lube the next morning. On June 17th/2020 i called Mr lube and was talking to Dale Knickle co owner of that location and explained to him what had happened to my truck and about the oil filter that had been put on my truck but didn't match what they put on my receipt at this point he gets his red seal mechanic on the phone which i believe his name is Jason who indicated he was going to come and put the proper filter on my truck in hopes that would fix the problems. He shows up within a half hour with the 2 proper filters for my truck the ph400 and the fl1a however realized he only brought the filter wrench for the big filter and not the small filter wrench to remove the filter they had on the truck but in the end it wasn't an issue as the filter basically fell off in his hand. At this point he puts the proper filter on the truck and gets me to start it. The oil pressure didn't come back and he realized the filter wasn't heating up at all got me to turn the truck off and said oh shit it's not pumping oil now. He indicated that he thought what had happened was the guy underneath couldn't find the ph400 filter and just put the fl400s on assuming they were the same which they are not but my truck needs to be towed to a garage to be fixed at this point i ask him who is paying for it and he said they would have to as it's there fault.He took the filter that damage my truck with him and left the proper on. As he was getting ready to leave he said well now I have to go back and have a pow wow with the manager and the service guys that did my oil change and he would call me back about towing the truck and getting me a rental. It's important to note I have 3 witnesses who heard everything that was said and a mess of oil in my mom's driveway that was never cleaned up. After about an hour or so i get a call back from him in which he states the want my truck towed to GT automotive 830 main street Dartmouth Nova Scotia as the 2 owners are friends and for me to get a rental and they would reimburse me as i am the driver so it would have to be in my name. I also have one witness to this conversation. On June 19th/2020 I received a call from the red seal mechanic from mr lube on my answer machine in which he indicated the owner wanted him to touch base with me in regards to my truck which he states "Do to the cost to repair my truck and the age and mileage of my truck that they know have to do there due diligence and go through head office and the owner would contact me on Monday"message is still saved on my answer machine. On June 22nd/2020 I received a call from Dale knickle from mr lube on my answer machine which i still have saved were mr knickle indicates that my truck is my problem as would be the rental fees as he is now claiming that fl400 is the proper manufacture filter for my truck which it is not and that he has called part source as well as fram canada and they apparently told him the same thing. He also stated that champion laboratories has told him it's the right filter and they would be the ones that would have to warranty it. After receiving the voicemail from Mr Knickle i called him back and informed him he was wrong and that i called ford parts at both macphee ford and fairley stevens ford which indicated the fl400 oil filter was not for my truck and actually went on a 1997-2008 f150 4.2 v6. i also informed mr knickle that i have talked to reggie kinsman who has been a red seal mechanic for 40 years and also Greg Macdonald who is a master ford red seal mechanic which both indicated that filter would have caused my oil pump to work harder in turn giving out and starving the bottom end of the engine for oil. Had a fantastic experience at Mr Lube before my trek from Halifax to Ottawa. The man who welcomed us, Daniel (I think!), was so personable, funny, and just really great at his job. The technician (a woman! Woop!) was thorough, clearly communicated, and worked efficiently. The coffee was a nice perk and the chatter between technicians was pretty great. So I went to Mr. Lube and got my oil change, there was a long line which is fine becuase the business says no appointments drive through right on the building. So after waiting 40 minutes (after I was told by the man who calimed to be the owner the wait was 15-20min) I was let in. Now, I drive a VW and I need special oil so I am used to paying premium dollar. The girl told me that I didn't need syntehic oil and that I could just buy regualr and save the money. I told her I didn't that was ture and she said "fine do whatever you want." I found out from VW that you need specific oil!. So after my 30 minute oil change and being treated rudley by some anger girl, she then asked me to fill out a questionaire to tell them how great they were and I could win prizes. Avoid going here!! Twice in one week I was extremely disappointed with the customer service. The first time is when I called them and asked if they can undercoat my vehicle. They said yes they can take me in approximately 45 minutes. I told him that I have a big cube van and it could only fit in one of the bays. The guy said no problem. When I arrived the owner came out and he was dumbfounded on how big my vehicle was and asked if I ever been there before. I told him yes this is only my seventh year coming here. He said they were too busy with tire changeover to be able to take me. I did explain to them that the guy the answer the phone said no problem. I wasted my time going over there in traffic hour from Halifax. A second time is when I took my other vehicle they are for winter tires to be installed that were already on rims. I called before heading over and the owner answer the phone and told me there was a 45 minute wait. I confirmed with him that he knew I was coming over for winter tires to be installed that were previously mounted on rims. He said no problem. When I arrived the owner came out and turned me away because his jack was broken. I asked when the Jack had broke. He told me last night. They should've explain to me that Jack was broken they could only do certain vehicles. Another waste of my time. I went to their competitor at Jiffy Lube and they did a very thorough and efficient job. read more

I came here for an oil change against my better judgement. This was a big mistake! First, they told me that my car requires the more expensive synthetic oil. I was able to confirm with the manufacturer that this is not the case and that I can just use mineral oil in my car. Next, my car requires a torque spec to remove the drain plug. They did not have one so they just hammered an Allen key into it. Then, they tried to up sell me an engine flush even though my oil was still golden. They claimed that the manufacturer required it in their maintenance schedule. Not only is that not the case, engine flushed have been known to cause complete engine failure and they void manufacturers warranties. I gave them permission to change my engine air filter, cabin air filter, and coolant. I could tell by looking at both the engine air filter and cabin air filter that they had not been replaced.the coolant had been changed, however, my car requires a special kind of coolant called dexcool. Dexcool is orange in colour. The stuff that they had used was green so it was not dexcool and I had to have it changed all over again somewhere else. read more
