We ordered the SoonDuBu (spicy seafood tofu) soup, TangSuYuk, (Korean style sweet and sour pork), half-sized Yangnyum chicken (marinated in soy sauce, honey, garlic, pears and green onion then sprinkled with sesame seeds), and HweDupBap (Salmon sashimi on a bed of vegetables and rice). The appetizer dishes came out right away - small amounts but enough before our order arrived. Sounds good right? So this is where they failed: SoonDuBu was just ok. Nothing stellar but I was pleased that it had a good amount of substance in it. The TangSuYuk lacked the sweet and sour flavour I was looking for. After a few bites, you just keep chewing on more chicken and deep fried batter. The same went for the Yangnyum chicken as the spice sort of overrides the entire dish. But the biggest disappointment of all was the HweDupBap. Normally this dish is served with cold and freshly cut slices of sashimi. How would you feel if it was served frozen? We had to return it to have it cooked because there was no way we would continue eating FROZEN sashimi. Then eating pan fried sashimi when it was meant to be served fresh and not frozen (or defrosted for that matter) was an even bigger disappointment.
