On top of the set plate (500p for the small), we ordered more seafood balls, and some white noodles that I think go better with the meal than the thin glass noodles included with the meal. Too bad the broth pot is not split into spiced and plain water (as some hot pot restos do), but you can add some flavours from the condiment table to accompany the extra vegetables they start with in the broth. The condiments - minced garlic, chopped onions and shallots, scallions, soy sauce, deep-flavoured bean sauce and chili paste - that you mix up at a separate table according to your taste were fresh, and really close in flavour to what one gets in Taiwan and Manila (where one can find many hot-pot restaurants, with one of the best being Ping Yang at the corner of Adriatico and Julio Nakpil Streets in Malate). We are glad to find yet another good resto here in Iloilo, because there really are few worth returning to. I recommend this restaurant highly, but make sure the staff bring you all fresh ingredients for your own style of cooking at the table. That said, I don't feel too bad in admitting that the food doesn't taste more than A-Ok. The prices were reasonable and it was overall a really fun place to hang out and admire the great ambiance, noodle making process, and of course those cats. The staff were kind, too, so want to factor that in! Another thing that might make me a little more biased is that dim sum grease is my lifeblood, and I typically eat the stuff all around San Francisco where it's done really well. That said, come in to try the dim sum and stay for the cool vibe. Visiting Boracay is all about relaxing, after all.

I've had better siopaos in the Philippines ... in my opinion the convenient store 7/11 has better tasting ones. I mean in terms of fluffiness, their siopao is better than Chow Kings. My cousin even said their siopao in Kong Kee didn't taste the same as they remembered. The little vinegar sauce to go with the siopao is what I used to mask some of the flavors of the filling. And their pancit I'm guessing is a twist of Chinese influence ... it was quite saucy and it somewhat tasted smokey-burnt. So it was kind of upsetting. Understandably in the Philippines the food portion is on a smaller scale, and I didn't want to waste the pancit so I just had to finish it. I also placed my order for take out, and service was lacking. The ladies almost made it feel like they didn't want to take our order. Just glad I decided to do take out.

The cheap noodles in the soup surely have little nutritional value, allowing the chain to max out profits at the expense of ignorant patrons. 5. Dozens of fat globules floated all over the surface of the soup. 6. Had to spike the wonton with hot sauce and some insipid soy sauce mix from my broccolli to make it more than just boringly bland. 7. When we paid, they didn't have change for a mere 500 peso note (US$10). Duh! 8. Hate to say it again, but is such 'food' and slow service worth buying, actually eating, and tipping? I hope that in its current state that the Hap Chan chain goes under! So please do not go here unless you like wasting about 200 pesos on dishes that will not satisfy, that are faking it as not at all authentic Chinese.

The meeting room was good for 3 hours with the required food purchase. It worked out very well and the food was very good. The next night hubby & I decided to go back to try their Dimsum. We picked the Dimsum Platter & the Brisket Noodle Soup. All dishes tasted amazing, fresh & just the right amount of food. Service was brisk & the wait was not long. This is my second time at Spring Palace and because of the size of our party, we've always been given a large, Private room. My relatives like it, the food was fine overall and most of these dishes are very new to me. I guess the spinach soup was my favorite item. The deep fried shrimp with fruit salad was weird but it's crunchy sweetness was fine by me. I also very much enjoyed the steamed Grouper (lapu-lapu), the meat is so soft and sweet.

It's a small place...no inside seating, just tables on the beach. The place is decorated with colorful lanterns, and they play the music pretty loud. The menu features grilled pork, chicken, steak and fish. The food presentation is nice, on butcher block slabs, and the prices are fair, in the 250 PHP range including rice. The service is very friendly and the tables are covered with a tarp which is nice during the frequent tropical showers. We eat here once a week.

The place was already pretty busy at that time. We made the journey here specifically for the bone marrow (which they call 'butter of God'). We were lucky enough to get the last 2 orders before they sold out! Apparently they get their shipment of marrow in the evening or maybe specifically Monday after 5, so you may have better luck around then in case they do sell out. Also, you get to use the bone afterwards as a luge for the shot of vodka they provide with the order lol. The bone marrow was sooo flavorful and rich. It also came with a lot of marrow, you will definitely get your money's worth! The 2 bone narrows were enough for our party of 4 (along with a few other plates of items mentioned below). The sizzling sisig was also good! The crispy pata wasn't bad, but it was kinda tough. I would avoid getting the dimsum platter, the dumplings were dried out and not appetizing. Bottom line - get the bone marrow!! You will not be disappointed!
