One of the most unprofessional companies I have ever used. I needed a small simple job done (ceiling fan installed). I told them at booking precisely the ceiling height and fan specs. They advertise, and promised, that they would send technicians ready to do the work same day after they provided me an onsite estimate. However, when the technician gave me the estimate he told me they couldn't do the job until the following week (not same day as advertised). He also told me it would be $700 just to install...for a single ceiling fan! That is more than twice what I had to pay for the fan in the first place. Not recommended. Dallas Tx. I hired Mr. Handyman expecting professional service, but my experience was far from it. A simple 2-hour paint job ended up taking 5 hours, with no clear explanation for the delay. Even worse, they painted the wrong color, and when I pointed out the mistake--which was entirely theirs--they refused to fix it unless I paid again. I was charged $2,000 for a job that was done incorrectly and took more than twice as long as it should have. When I asked them to repaint with the correct color, they had the audacity to demand additional payment instead of owning up to their error. This is not how a reputable business should treat customers. Totally unprofessional, overpriced, and unwilling to take responsibility for their own mistakes. As we are walking through and I'm showing him what will be a full house remodel he is continuously overtalking me, being condescending and arrogant. In talking about installing cabinets he said that without doing other work he would upcharge for $4k to 6K. I found Mr Handyman - Arlington TX - through The Good Contractors List. I live in a mobile home, and over the years, the number of long-in-the-biz businesses willing to work on a mobile home has all but disappeared. I live in a 2002 Fleetwood Entertainer 16x76, I am the original and only owner. Through my own neglect I let the house get torn up and I needed the living room (carpet & padding removed, chipwood/pressboard decking replaced, new flooring), guest bath (decking replaced, new toilet, new vanity, new flooring), and roof worked on. I was expecting the handyman (David Royal) to hit me with "new roof" and a $15k estimate. David told me I didn't need a new roof, just for the one exhaust vent to be sealed and a few shingles replaced. He only had to replace 1/2 of the decking in the living room, and installed a lovely wood laminate with a white baseboard trim. In the guest bath had been the standard mobile home plastic basin w/plastic faucet in a square vanity, I told him I wanted a pedestal sink b/c the vanity made the bath smaller than it needed to be. Total cost for the roof repairs, living room, and guest bath was about $10k, which I felt was reasonable considering that if I had any issues I have The Good Contractors List guarantee. I will be hiring Mr Handyman - Arlington TX later this year (when the weather is cooler) for at least a new screen door and possibly new skirting for my home. I called Mr. Handyman to fix a commode that was not properly installed after a bathroom remodeling job done by another company. They installed a new seal and remounted the commode and caulked. They also installed a new flush kit. It's working fine now. This is the second time I have used this company for repairs, plumbing, electrical, painting, etc. They do good work, they are punctual, they charge what they said in the estimate, and their repair people all seem to be very skilled. Anytime I need anything repaired or installed, this company is who I will continue to call. read more

Appreciate this service IMMENSELY. Scheduling is easy via chat with dispatcher. Email and text reminders are sent in advance of the scheduled time. Repair person always shows up on-time, with all needed materials, is ready to go to work, keeps job areas so clean, and do outstanding work. Latest work was done by Matt - drywall replaced and textured perfectly to match and minor carpentry (doors/ cabinets that would no longer close). Awesome job, Matt! They are convenient and responsive. Time starts when they pull up. You pay to get an estimate. They charged me $20 for material to hang a bathroom light. Called Amanda and asked about the charge. She stated she would ask the tech. Week later and a repeated call no answer. Quality depends on who they send. Pricing seems like a rip off and depends on integrity of the tech. One guy hung a bathroom light mirror and artwork for less (fair price) than next guy who hung just a light. read more

This place is a joke. If you want a job done when you schedule it hire someone else. Took off work drove 75 miles to my dads house that needed a new door jamb for a 9 to 11 appointment. I get a call at 9:45 saying the tech needs to do a emergency job in Arlington so I say no problem. Get a text at about 4 o'clock saying tech is getting trim board and heading my way. Great. Then at about 5 get a text telling me the tech cannot find a door jamb in stock with a 7 day wait. I sent pictures of the jamb one week earlier to them so they could get what they needed. Waits till the day of to go shopping for a 9 am appointment . Very disappointed with them Guess I will do it myself after waiting on the tech from 8:30 am till 5 pm. AWFUL! Had to use because of a home warranty, they came out to diagnose on a Monday, I paid the $60 service fee and asked if it could be fixed in the next 7-8 days and they said it should not be a problem. A week goes by and I call back, they claimed the warranty company denied the work and I would need to call them. I called and the warranty company said they approved it the day after the service call. Then I asked Mr. Handyman to expedite the service, and they scheduled me for later that day. Mr. Handyman called back and said they had not ordered the part and would not be able to scheduled for at least 3 more days. Then I called again to schedule, and they said no one would be in until 9:30, what type of business does not start working until 9:30!?! read more

Be careful with this place. I've been a long-time customer but have noticed some disturbing trends recently. 1) they have gotten *really* expensive, I think they've increased their rates. A simple, short visit can end up costing several hundred dollars now. 2) the tech quality has declined. I've had the same new tech over twice now. Both times he absolutely *reeked* of cigarette smoke when he entered. It was gross. And, he did sub-par work that I'm probably going to have to redo (not using them, mind you). It's too bad because another tech of theirs we'd used regularly (Sterling) was great but apparently he no longer works there. I'll turn elsewhere for home improvement needs, now. I'm done. read more

I used Mr. Handy man several months ago to install a storm door on my home. When I scheduled the appointment, I was given a quote of $375.00. When the technician arrived, he was alone. I told him I thought he would need help since the door weighed 139 lbs. He frowned and said, "yeah probably". But he did not call for any help. So I helped him. He had no clue what he was doing. I had to find a video on YouTube on how to reverse the swing and install the door. It took him several hours to do a job that should have taken an hour max. After the technician left they emailed me a bill for $415.00. I called the office to discuss the poor work, the additional charges and that he had taken my keys with him. No one answered so I left a message. I got a call right back to collect the payment. I told them of the problems and she said she would have the office manager call me the next day. The office manager called the next morning. She was extremely rude and kept interrupting me while I was trying to talk to her. I told her of the problems and asked to speak with the owner. She said he was out of the country for 2 weeks but that I would not be allowed to speak with him because he paid her to handle the business. I asked about the additional $40.00 charge. It was a service charge and wear and tear on the tools. What??? I told her I would not pay them until they sent someone out to make the job right. Her response was "We'll come take the door down". I never heard another word from them even though I made several calls to them and left multiple messages. The door has a large gap at the top because it is not hanging level. He split my door jam when installing the hinge because he refused to drill a pilot hole before placing the screw in the wood. He refused to cut the excess metal from the bottom of the door as instructed by the manufacturer and instead butchered my thresh hold to make it fit. Aside from the one invoice sent by email the day of the service call, they have NEVER sent me bill or an invoice by mail, email or text. Today I get a threatening call from Robert at UCI because Mr. Handyman turned me over to collections. I told Robert that I would be happy to pay the bill in full once the work was done right. He said he could not go back to his client with that, but if I would agree to pay $200.00 we could both go our separate ways. I said I would pay the bill in full when the work is done right. He said he would contact his client and inform them that I was unwilling to settle and they should take further action. Not at all what I told him. Bottom line DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE NOT RELIABLE AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. THEY'LL RUIN YOUR HOME AND COST YOU MORE MONEY FIXING WHAT THEY DESTROY. read more

Terrible experience and I would never recommend using them. I hired them to replace an undermount vanity sink. After the work was performed they wanted to charge me twice the quote they gave me. They also have 100% mark up on supplies and wanted $60 for a tube of latex caulk and store bought Loctite epoxy. The sink is not centered or tight to the counter so they tried using caulk to fill the gap. It looks awful. It's a hack job that clearly stands out from the other seven sinks that are professionally installed in the house. In addition the plumbing leaks after they hooked it back up. I voiced my complaint and they agree to come attempt to fix it so we scheduled an appointment. After hours of waiting they never showed up. I wish I could charge them $95 an hour for my time. Hire a professional no matter wait they say. It will cost equal or less in the end and be done right. read more

HORRIBLE - do not recommend! A few days ago, we had a Mr. Handyman show up to our house. We did NOT have a service scheduled. He knocked on our door and we were not home. He then proceeded to rip our mailbox up and out of the ground. Then he left (leaving our broken mailbox and no note, must have realized he went to the wrong house). Luckily, we saw it all on our cameras and called the company to see what in the world was going on. They said he went to the wrong house and would be coming back to fix this. He did come back to put in a new mailbox, but when completed, we could not open our mailbox, the cuts on the wood were jagged, and the post he used was cracked significantly on one corner! We then called to get them to come out and fix it, AGAIN. All they did was come and move the mailbox slightly so that we can now open it, BUT still left the cracked post and jagged, unfinished cuts. We had a perfectly good mailbox, they made a mistake and did a lazy job of fixing it. Would not recommend using them. Value and trust in a company is not what they do right, but how they respond when they do wrong- they failed here. read more

Wade gave us what we originally wanted out of the job and made sure we were completely satisfied with his work before he left. Had a Mr. Handyman tech just leave my home. My landlord had hired them to come and fix a 6' long crack in the sheetrock above my tub. To start the guy was 30 minutes late with no call. Then he didn't even start the job for another 30 minutes as he was trying to contact his office to make sure my landlord had already made payment arrangements as I was not paying (This should have already been taken care of before ever arriving at my home as this was scheduled 2 weeks prior). To plaster the crack and paint a tiny section of ceiling it took about 3 hours and 15 minutes. I think that's way too long for this type of job. After he was done he wanted me to sign the invoice by the work that was done. I asked him if he was payed hourly and he said yes. So I then said I was not going to sign with the invoice stating he started at 1:23 pm when he didn't even start the work until 2pm. He told me that he was walking through the door with tools at that time. This was not even true because he did not get here until about 1:30, never the less, he was on the phone trying to get a hold of his office for 30 minutes to double check payment. My landlord has already set up payment so it is not his fault that he had to spend so much time double checking this and certainly should not pay for 40 minutes of work when none was done. In the end the tech did an ok job but it was not up to my expectations for such a simple job. The tub was left a mess with sheetrock and plastic mesh everywhere. In the end I would not recommend this Handyman service. I try and think about if he had done the same job for my grandmother. Not only would he have over charged her by 40 minutes, he would have left the tub a mess for her. People that hire a handyman do it because they don't want to, or simply can't, do the work themselves. read more

I contacted them through the good contractor. I left them a voicemail and sent an email May 10th, 2022, they then sent me a text asking me to call them. So I did. I called around 9.30am 5.11.22 They quoted $935 to re- attach a towel bar and repair a sheet rock spot that is less than the size of half an egg, and paint the front of my front door only (not front and back) and paint my coat closet door. Only the door. Seriously!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is BEYOND overcharging. ...........5.21.22Update I got the wall repaired on my own with a cool wall shark purchase from Amazon and bought some paint with the help of selection by a painting associate and my adult daughter painted my front door for me and I spent $80 bucks. Once I finish painting the closet door this project will be done and this company will not have had the chance to rip me off for $900+ dollars. Seriously if they quoted me $200 I would've said yes. The work they did was decent. However, the technician they sent was very slow. I needed about a 2 foot area of fascia replaced near my roof where branch scraped the wood. Unfortunately, it was an area that I could not reach with my ladder. I had completed a similar project at a lower section of the roof. It took me about 2 hours to complete. I am by no means an expert. The technician at Mr. Handyman took ALL DAY! So, $700 later I have a new 2 foot section of fascia. read more

This service is a crap shoot at best because when it comes to the workers Mr. Handyman uses, they are definitely like a box of chocolates, "you NEVER know what you're going to get." I had them do two different bathroom estimates for me about a year apart. The first handyman who came out a year ago quoted me half the labor hours than the old slow guy they sent out this time. I needed someone to finish off a job that was already halfway done before the previous contractor had to be fired. I had all of my materials with the exception of the sink plumbing connections and, like I said, the job was half done. The old guy said it would take a full 8 hour day to tile in my tub/shower! Huh my tile is 12 X 24 AND I wanted the stacked method which requires less cutting. That it was going to take 3 hours to grout my 5 x 10 floor! He then proceeded to tell me a story about his life. I saw very quickly why his labor hours were double the last guy. He was going to work and talk at a turtle's pace. I can't believe I had to pay their 78$ service fee and wait a day and a half later for his ridiculous quote! I scheduled a service call with this compamy on a Sun night with their answering service. They had an opening the next morning at 8:30....supposedly! Mon morning no show, no call so we called them. They said the tech was overbooked and would arrive at noon. No show, no call so WE called them again and they said he would be here in an hour at 1:00. No show, no call so WE called once again and they said 2:00 for sure he would be here. He FINALLY arrived at 2:15. So after rescheduling my day taking off work to be here, I ended up waiting for 6 hours!! The technician was friendly and apologetic, but the staff (Lisa) answering the calls seemed to be out of touch with what was going on and was not empowered to make any decisions or offer any solutions without speaking to Suzy, the owner. After 3 hours he was finished and they waived the $65 service charge (which we weren't even aware of) and took 10% off the final bill. They also waived some sort of "van stock" fee of $20, which again we were not previously informed of. i was also somewhat surprised that it took this guy 3 hours to install a microwave that I helped him with, caulk 2 bath tubs and replace 3 toliet seats?? Needless to say I cannot recommend Mr Handyman and I will not use them again going forward. Oh, the real price is $65 service charge plus $90 per hour plus the $20 van charge.
