The cafe on a quiet residential side street is simple, unpretentious. The staff are friendly and it's an unhurried relaxing space with concrete floors, off white walls, indoor plants, large tables and a book shelves. Short black had a good flavour, enjoyable if a little weak and I would've preferred hotter. For food I went with the Pea smash. The busy plate arrived with a generous portion of bacon that was well cooked and tasty. The hash was over seasoned for mine. However the star of the dish is the smashed pea which had a beautiful texture, light and fresh. Sitting on top was a poached egg .. well cooked, I liked the radish too. Will be interesting to see what the change of menu yields, I hear they're toying with the idea of a vegan cafe with the option of adding non vegan extras - regardless if you're in the area worth a visit. For my brunch, I went with their most popular offering, Matcha Hotcakes. The presentation was very orgasmic to the eye, pictured this - two green tea hotcakes sandwiched between a Nutella brioche donut drizzled with chocolate ganache and garnished with berries and whipped cream. Sounds incredible delicious ain't it? Well... Not so much. The hotcakes were completely soggy, drenched with disgustingly sweet and runny chocolate and smothered with the bitter raspberry jam.... Overall, it tasted way too confusing for my simple palate. I also got their matcha latte, and it came in a cute "bear" presentation, but taste-wise, it was equally disappointing. Despite of the bright green color, there was no hint of the green tea, no sweetness, no taste whatsoever, this to me tasted just like a plain warm milk. The portable buzzers alow you to order at the window and then park yourself on your picnic rug enjoying the sun or the cool breeze while lying under the shady trees while you wait for your order to be ready. The coffee is great as are the toasted sandwiches and cakes. There are kid friendly options if you have the little people in tow and plenty of outdoor seating or you can park on the grass so no need to worry about mess! Unfortunately the local wildlife can be a little friendly (remember you are in a big park), but if you shoo them away you'll be fine!

On my most recent dining experience I had the Korean fried chicken burger with a side of polenta chips & this did not disappoint either. Moist chicken, a slightly aromatic slaw & a lovely brioche bun. The polenta chips came with a hint of tomato relish. I was a little disappointed that as an extra side dish I only received 3 polenta chips but I needn't have feared as coupled with the burger my tummy was left sufficiently full. I've observed many dishes leaving the kitchen & they all look delicious. I'll be sure to try their poached chicken salad on my next visit, which will no doubt be soon. North & Eight have a variety of cakes, muffins & pastries as well as yummy ButterBings. So if you have any space left after your main course you can thrown in an extra treat to satisfy your sweet tooth.
