I must tell everyone that I have been buying salvage parts from people for over 25 years either by phone, Craigslist, ebay, or traveling to the junkyard myself. Junkyard people are quirky at times to deal with. Other times, they are very difficult to deal with. I've run into some real jerks over the years. And the last time I tried to buy a part through a parts-locator service, the person/company could not give me what they promised, and it took me over 6 weeks to get the charge reversed on my credit card. This company is trustworthy.

He was awesome. He ran the test, asked me a few questions and helped us decide how to proceed. He never spoke down on me, which would have been easy given I know less than zero about cars. We bought a few things and checked out. Prices seemed reasonable but I don't know the going rate for anything in the automobile industry. I couldn't, in good conscience leave a five-star review here. As a result of AutoZone's decline, I've had to shift my purchases to other automotive parts suppliers. In my recent experience, problem areas with this supplier include: (a) a non-competitive pricing structure, and (b) a dysfunctional loyalty program that randomly subtracts points and generates spam marketing e-mails that offer "rewards" and "credits" that don't actually exist. If you are in the midst of a repair and need a part locally, it still makes sense to walk in. Don't bother with the gimmicky rewards program or give them an e-mail address. If your purchase can wait a day or two, there are much better and much less costly options.

Once inside you are free to walk the yard & search for the part you need. Make sure to come prepared knowing exactly what part you need (and more importantly what model number/size) and bring the proper tools. Work gloves & a hand truck would be helpful too, although they do have carts for use for a $2 fee. There are definitely hundreds, if not thousands, of vehicles here. So it's likely you'll be able to find what you need! On this particular day I went with my husband in search of a tire rim for our 2004 Chrysler van. We walked & walked & walked... finding lots of Chrysler vans along the way, but all of them already having been striped of their tires/rims. We finally located what we came for at the very back of the yard. Only cost us $20 for the rim & tire attached (which was flat)... which is much better than the $150 our mechanic would have charged for a brand new rim. They are the only junkyard in the area open on Sundays. The staff is incredibly helpful & friendly. Could even see this place be used as a great backdrop for some artsy photos. Would def check this place out before buying an auto part brand new!

Quoting me $500 for hood struts when I can buy them myself for under $20? The list goes on and on. Enter Pep Boys for my car maintenance. Today was my 6th visit to the Berlin location and again I was exceptionally pleased. I've had my alignment corrected, serpentine belt replaced, oil changes, and today a new battery replacement. Brian C is always friendly and speaks in layman's terms. Thomas is fantastic also. I don't feel the need to bring my husband with me for fear of being ripped-off, lady-style. Appointment scheduling is a breeze, and my car is always finished quickly. They provide a nice complimentary inspection report for review prior to your vehicle's completion. I have never felt pressured to add on additional repairs. They alert you via text and email when your car is ready. Every car is unique as is every owner's experience with their car. I feel confident trusting mine with Pep Boys!
