I started calling on them to do basic handyman stuff my husband can't figure out. Real basic things that I'm a little embarrassed we couldn't get done ourselves. No complaints. They come out and take care of whatever may need fixed. Next we needed to fix work that was done by another contractor that I'd never recommend. Not only did they correct everything, they knew people that were experts in areas they would rather not handle. Absolutely no complaints with any of the subs they had come in to do work! They totally reconfigured our guest bath. The place is haunted! They have been out so many times to try and figure out why the bath drips water. Everytime I call they are here to fix it. They are super busy, but if it's a serious problem they drop everything and come running. Water problem is not due to their work, but what originated with the house. Finally they totally cleaned up, repaired, fixed, updated, improved my rental! They did so much more then I thought I needed! Not in a bad way, but in the kindest most observant way possible. I didn't know how bad it really was. They see things that aren't right and fix them! I feel so loved and cared for. The place is spotless and will make the new renters feel so at home! Call them! I promise you will not regret having them do anything from change a light bulb to build your home!!!

Be careful if you use this father & son company…read more Jim (father) doesn't seem to be in good health etc & said he was Handyman for a millionaire for many years. Jim has never been a licensed contractor from my understanding. Jason (son) is probably the licensed one and may be fine to work with directly. Jim boasts being the best in the county. You'll likely hear that if you call. Jim's temperament runs hot & cold. Jim broke my toilet. Fortunately he admitted his mistake & didn't charge me to replace toilet. It took multiple trips to get the correct materials for the toilet replacement. This week we rejected Jim's subcontractors quote for HVAC job as we found someone else we preferred and we have a home warranty for service. Jim became volatile & hostile with me over the phone and by text after I hung up on him for yelling at me inappropriately. Extremely unprofessional. Son Jason didn't follow up with separate estimate and that may be miscommunication with Jim, however Jason was here months ago and looked at what we wanted done but didn't take any notes measurements etc, so I'm not sure how things fell through. Jason was friendly. I have no direct experience with his actual construction work other than lack of follow through with estimate. I don't like to post unfavorable reviews and this may be the only one.

After multiple emails, phone calls and voicemails over the course of several weeks, I have not received even a courtesy call back to see what the work is or how they can help on a project they have complete familiarity with and would be helpful on. I'm not sure if they had a falling out with the previous owners over the project, but I find their lack of communication to be incredibly unprofessional and completely lacking of basic common courtesy in business and therefore deserving of this review.

Mike Seay took my initial design concepts and worked with me to get to a final product of my dreams. They were easy to get a hold of and were great communicators throughout the entire process. They made sure to address challenges and solutions along the way, and consult with me for any decisions that needed made (whether it be colors, materials, costs, layouts, etc.) The attention to detail and quality of their work is truly amazing. The billing process is detailed by line item so it's easy to understand. If changes are needed/wanted during the process it is super clear as to the cost difference. We are really happy with the outcome and have recommended them to both family and friends.

Not so great…read more Sergio has great prices and that's what lures you in. But that comes with it's faults too. 1) Bad at returning calls. I found out later that he also didn't return calls or show up to my brother's house. 2) His original fix didn't work - still leaking. He warned me it might not. After a more expensive fix, I asked for pics. No pics. Next rain - it continued to leak in the same place. When I called again (within warranty period) he hung up on me. I forwarded him the warranty info that his wife had sent. He did come over with some workers to take a look and fix the issue. This last winter's rain (lots of it) it did not leak so I give him that. 3) First time he came by I asked him if I would be better off replacing and he said no, I had several years left. After the second time leaking (within the year), and me calling, he said my roof was rotted out. What? To be fair, I did not pay him at first due to no pics. I just wanted to see what he was charging me the extra money for. I told him prior to working on the roof I wanted the pics and texted him the next day to see if he had taken pics of the work. Nothing. So I am leak free. His prices are good. It's getting to be summer now so maybe you would have better luck with him now = less busy. His warranty is one year so as it doesn't rain that often (except this last winter) douse your house with water where the leak is just to verify the work was done correctly.

Excellent Earthquake Retrofit - Professional from Start to Finish…read more I'm extremely satisfied with the earthquake retrofit work GenHawk Construction completed on my home. From start to finish, they made what could have been a stressful process completely manageable. Jessica was outstanding as our project manager. She handled all the details of our EBB application with the state and kept us informed throughout the process. Her communication was clear and timely, which gave us real peace of mind. The quality of work from Danny and Ernie was excellent. They were professional, skilled, and thorough in bolting down the foundation. The project was completed on time, which we really appreciated. When the state initially rejected some of the photos in our application, GenHawk didn't hesitate - Danny and Ernie came back promptly to retake the photos and get everything approved. This kind of responsive follow-through really demonstrates their commitment to seeing the job through completely. If you're looking for a reliable CA EBB program approved contractor for earthquake retrofitting in the Ventura area, I highly recommend GenHawk Construction.
