I'm so glad a groupon brought me to this place! If you want the whole locker room, water fountain fancy spa place this is not for you. The ambiance is simple, and the location is actually in a corporate building, but the experience is nonetheless wonderful. Everyone is very professional and the minute I walk in I feel relaxed. I booked an appointment through Groupon with Lillian and she was amazing! Sometimes my fear is when I book another appointment with the same masseuse its never as good the second time around, but my second appt with her was just as wonderful and I will continue coming back now. read more

I purchased a groupon for a 1hr swedish massage for myself and a 1hr sport massage for my boyfriend. We went the weekend of June 14th 2014. Each was $43 which was a great deal. As the woman mentioned below before, yes it is true only the younger and not quite experience masseuses take the groupons. My masseuse was Ivan. He was professional but the pressure he applied was ok. I felt more as if he was just rubbing oil around and being too light with me. My boyfriend had Chrystie. He wasn't happy at all with his massage. She had long nails and scratched my boyfriends body up. She scratched him from his head and neck to his shoulders. She needs to cut her nails! So unprofessional! I felt so bad for him because when he showers it burns. We've experienced better and won't be visiting again. Hope this helps. read more

Candice is an absolute miracle worker! This was my first time at Massage America, but it will not be my last. I booked an appointment with Candice because I had heard great things about her. I let her know I'd been having some issues with my shins (every time I run, it's only a matter of minutes before they get super tight and painful). The cold NYC weather does NOT help at all either. Additionally, my shoulders have felt a little tight because I sit at a computer for 8 hrs a day! Candice listened attentively so she knew exactly what to focus on. This massage was hands down the best massage I've ever had! It was technically a Swedish but she worked in deep tissue where ne read more

This place is awsome. I have been going for 6 years and have always walked out satisfied. There are many types of massages here and if you have any confusion definitely call them to ask. The deep tissue works like a charm for shoulder/back aches. All my co-workers go here now! read more

This is a reliable place to get a good massage. I've seen at least 4 massage therapists and they were all professional, listened, and tried to meet my needs. The sound system can be spotty (maybe they fixed it by now?) but the rooms are otherwise comfortable and clean. Highly recommended. read more

I come every few months. This place is the real deal--I've had so many massages around the world and nothing compares to what Massage America has done for my chronic back pain. For the first time, a masseuse has correctly diagnosed my problem and taught me exercises I can do at home to relieve the pain and fix the problem. All of their masseuses are so knowledgable and know exactly how to hit the right spots! They also have weekly discounts if you sign up for their mailing list. read more

I took Massage America up on their BOGO deal for first timers. I was fortunate enough to get Nick both times for deep tissue, so I can't speak to any of the other therapists, but he was close to perfect both times! I have a lot of back pain and need someone who can apply deep pressure and is sensitive to my specific needs. Nick made me feel very comfortable and listened carefully to everything I asked for. Yay Nick! Some massage therapists can get very prideful and snippy about receiving direction from you because they think they know best and that you should have no say in how they execute, which is lame because you are not at a doctor's office and you are ultimately hiring and paying them for a luxury service, not a medical procedure. They should press you wherever you ask them to (within reason) - it's your money and your time! Oh, in terms of ambience, I found it perfectly clean and acceptable. Kind of cozy, like someone's apartment. They don't advertise themselves as a spa and it's not. So go strictly for a serious and professional massage. read more

Had a massage today from Frank Usman. It was one of the best massages I've had in ages. He made deep tissue massage comfortable and also effective - something I've never had before. I feel great! Best way to end a weekend. Thank's Frank! read more

I walked out a new man! Luis was fantastic! He spent time talking to me and finding out where I needed his help most. He was so attentive during the massage and really explained why I had tension in certain places and how I could work on it. I felt amazing afterwards and didn't want to leave! I plan to go back soon! read more

After reading the great Yelp reviews (and since they accept SpaFinder Gift Cards) I booked a deep tissue massage with Ann Claire at MPower. Wonderful! My back & shoulders had been really hurting & Ann fixed me right up. Friendly staff, beautiful interior space, Highly recommend! read more

Had a great experience today; got a Groupon sports massage from Mariah, and it was great. I can see from reviews that Groupon clients get "apprentices", but surely it didn't feel like it in my case. read more

I read the reviews before I purchased a groupon, and boy am I glad I'm not stuffy and require a super shi-shi posh spa to enjoy a massage like I've seen some people write negatively in their reviews! My massage was Ah-MAZ-ing! The place is small, but clean & comfortable & convenient. I saw Tanya mentioned a few times very positively in previous reviews, so when I saw she was the personal available when I could go, I was happy. And even happier after the hour long deep tissue massage! She really knows what she's doing and what she is talking about, and seems to really care. This place is highly recommended, especially if you find a deal for them! read more

Laura is an exceptional massage therapist, she listens attentively and adjusts when necessary. You can tell she cares about what she does but more importantly cares about her patients. Highly recommend read more

I've never had a massage before so this was a first. I was wary of shady places, and mildly nervous, but I was given a coupon by a friend for my birthday so I thought I'd try it. The place is located down a fairly old hallways on the 11th floor of a building, but it's pretty typical new york so I didn't mind. As other posters have mentioned there is no reception, but again I'm low maintenance so I didn't mind that either - and I'm not sure why anyone would mind, but hey to each there own. I was greeted by Brian, my therapist. The first thing I noticed was his handshake, and from that alone I knew I was going to be happy. Brian knew exactly what he was doing, and worked years of tension out of my back. Brian politely asked what areas I would like focused on, tempered his strength to my comfort and worked ever knot out. He even gave good advice on how to stretch so I could ward off future back issues. I was even late for the appointment but he still gave me the full time. As far as the space - while limited - they use it well and keep it clean. For the rates they offer you really can't complain, plus the actually massage is fantastic. I wasn't going for decor or spritzed mineral water, I was going to feel better and that's exactly what I got. I'll definitely go back, and I certainly recommend Brian. read more

I saw the deal on Groupon and decided to try this place. I had been to spas and massage places in the past, so experience wise my expectations were high. The place was easy to find. I arrived 15 mins prior to my appt time. The ambiance of the waiting area was so relaxing and clean. My massage person was Chrystie Colon. Aside from having such a welcoming face and polite attitude, she is a master of her craft. After our 1 hr session (deep tissue massage) I felt light as air. Chrystie had asked me what are my concerns, made recommendation on how to avoid serious pain and over all I walked out happy from my appt. I will definitely come back and always ask for Chrystie Colon. read more

bought a massage through Groupon. Took 1.5 months to make an appointment. The massage therapist called in sick the day of the massage. They could not reschedule me for another month. Receptionist was unapologetic and cold. Plus the massage therapists you get with the groupon are not the ones advertised on their wesbsite. I just got my money back - not worth the headache. read more

I had a deep tissue massage with Tanya Amaro after experiencing some symptoms of neck pain & headaches with the notion I simply needed some deep tissue Tanya listened and as well as working on those also suggested she check my feet and ankles. She proceeded and I found it to be very helpful in reducing the pain in my neck and shoulder I'm glad I could rely on her knowledge and expertise to listen to my problems and identify and treat not only what was obvious but also that which was not and that her experience helped her treat both the symptoms and the cause Highly recommended! read more

I found out about this place through Groupon, and it was amazing. Filling out the paperwork was a breeze and I marked all of the places that gave me the most troubles. It was a 60-min deep tissue massage and I was paired with therapist Jonathan J. Jonathan was very professional, kind and courteous. Not only did he work on the places that gave me issues, he performed techniques not only to relieve the muscles but also worked on specific spots which he knew would help me to further improve my health and performance. Jonathan even spotted things that I've had trouble with in the past or muscle tightness I never knew I had. I run 5-6 days a week plus weight and strength training twice a week, so this session helped me a lot. I feel more flexible, more relaxed and less pain from overuse injuries. Jonathan even gave me advice and tips after the session to help me further improve my posture which I will be practicing from now on. The heated tables were a surprise to me and awesome, and the moist towel toward the end on my back was a nice touch. Communication was key throughout the session, not too constant where your relaxation is ruined, and not too little where you feel ignored. Though the original price is more than what I can afford and what I would pay for a 60min massage, I would absolutely return to Massage America/Mpower Bodywork in the near future. Jonathan J. is not listed on the website under Therapists, but request him when you make an appointment!. Trust me it is worth it. read more

Okay, if I can give this vendor a 0 star, I would. If you're considering joining their membership, think twice, triple, quadruple or how many times you need to think over to say NO and simply walk away. They don't honor the masseur that you select via their own online reservation system. They change the masseur last minute WITHOUT even sending you a notification email. Instead of sending an email stating that the masseur is not available so the customer could reschedule and doesn't have to travel all the way to the location, they did absolutely NOTHING! Not even a way to accommodate their infuriated customer by offering a complimentary service or something. What a joke and malpractice place! Find yourself an alternative, as they are so MANY places offering great massages. If you live in NJ, consider Massage Envy and if you live in NY, consider Asanda Aveda (both locations) or Skin SPA, both of which establishments offer much more acceptable customer service than this place. STAY AWAY! read more

Gregory is a master masseuse. HIs fingers are magical. I'm hooked.

I just left massage America having received the best massage I have ever had in NYC. Mandi was a true professional, skilled and gifted. Her magic hands definitely made me squirm because she is not joking about working out your knots. She was very receptive to working with my pain threshold and she asked all the right questions at all the right times. I gave them 5 stars because the service provided, which is why I came, was so good that i'm now hooked. Now the place itself- set up, decor- I liked that too! Mandi told me that the owner has a feng shui consultant and I have to say it worked. The last massage I got (in another establishment) was in a tiny room with low ceilings and everything shoved up against each other. It affects the massage, it definitely does. Now I understand space in the city is at a premium so for Massage America to open in an office building instead is kind of genius. When you enter the waiting room is very open and inviting. The treatment rooms are big and the energy flows right through. I felt calm waiting for the therapist as I lay face down on the table which is usually a more tense experience. The ceilings are high and the music is relaxing. So what are you waiting for? read more

Came back today, booked a last minute massage last night. Had Dawn and she was great! She used the perfect amount of pressure!

Massage America is great place to get a massage. I've been going there for almost 10 years. I practice martial arts, and the Chinese master I learn has a skill level that is obvious once you learn from him. Gregory has that skill level in massage. I'm not joking. There have been some glitches in their on-line booking system, but I recommend their therapists as they are all vetted by Gregory. read more

My massage was the most relaxing and therapeutic hour of my week. My therapist was Candice and I can't wait to go back to her! I explained to her about my back pain from a car accident and she knew exactly what to do. She made my session comfortable and relaxing. Amazing! ... I did the BOGO within 10 days offer. Had a different masseuse for each time...both had different techniques but were still amazing. Definitely one of the best massages I've had and I'm really picky. Also, liked the energy and ambience of their studio. I'll be back as often as I can! read more

We were visiting from out of town when I developed lower back problems. I was dosing it with ibuprofen, but it wasn't getting better, and it put a damper on things. My wife looked on yelp and found Massage America. She booked me with one therapist, but they called us back to say that person was not available, and Chrystie would work on me. I couldn't be happier with the massage. I told her where I was hurting and a little of the background of my back pain, and she immediately knew what to do. She's very strong and skilled. She really worked my back, almost to the point that I couldn't stand the pressure, but that was exactly what I needed to release the knots. She was very methodical and complete - back, legs, arms, hands, chest, and neck. I wish I could go back for the bogo, but it's not possible. I will definitely visit again when in NYC. We paid $105 for an hour; given the quality of the massage, it was a bargain. As others have said, the building is not exactly luxurious, but neither is it scary. What do people expect? It's perfectly fine. The fourth floor room where I was seen is all the way down the end of a narrow hallway with a bunch of different kinds of offices. It didn't feel unsafe, just spartan. read more

I used a groupon for a 60 minute deep tissue massage and Amanda was amazing!! I felt so relaxed after she finished. This is by no means a spa but more of a medical and therapeutic type place. After I finished she gave me a coupon for a but 1 get 1 free deal. I'll definitely be booking that soon! read more

I've been going to massage america for years. All the therapists are consistently good. They are professional, and excellent at meeting individual needs. Greg is the best! It's not a frilly spa. The facility is a simple, calming, healing environment, a perfect getaway in/the/middle of/the city. Great choice! read more

I used a Lifebooker coupon and had a fantastic massage with Gregory, the owner. I work out a lot and have back issues, so I came in pretty sore. He was great at getting right to the painful parts, which were many. Also of note is the room and facilities...it was so comfortable and decorated tastefully...usually one talks about the room when the massage isn't good, but this just added to my ability to relax. Lofty ceilings with unique beams, spacious rooms but still cozy...the table was heated, the music was relaxed jazz (no Enya here!), the sheets soft...again, all things that just added to a great massage. The massage cream was creamy, not oily, and absorbed into my skin without feeling greasy afterwards. Never mind the hallways as you exit the elevators...Massage America is an oasis. I'm coming back again and taking advantage of their first-time customer deal. read more

Several massages later and I still love this place! Like I said before and as others have noted, this is a no-frills (but comfortable) place for a legit massage. I had Mandi and then Marisel in my past two visits and both were amazing. The key with massage is to be communicative. For first-timers, I also have a few pointers that I picked up along the way: when you get to the building, use the elevators on the left side; most likely, no one will greet you when you walk in, so just take off your shoes and relax; the bathroom is located outside the massage space, so use the key that hangs near the entrance door if you need to use the facilities; if you join the email list, you get frequent emails about massage deals. read more

Greg is magic. As a competitive runner I get regular massages and have been to MANY (high end spas, low end chinese places, sports/chiropractic specific, etc.) and when I found Greg 2 years ago my performances and body changed. I see him every 2-3 weeks, and he has helped keep me injury- free and also helped many injuries heal faster. He is so accommodating, friendly and caring, and knowledgeable. As a runner himself he knows exactly which areas need specific attention. I can't speak highly enough about the benefits of going regularly. The space was recently expanded and renovated and is beautiful. Everyone who works there is extremely nice as well. While I am a Greg devotee, I've had massages by other practitioners and they are great too. If you are an athlete, regular massages here are the best gift to yourself and your health. read more

I had a super experience here. Amanda really listened to what I told her was going on with my body and the areas that needed particular focus due to pain, and she took her time with it, never making me feel rushed and checking in with me about how it was feeling. The space itself was quiet and calming and smelled great. I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep, and was truly sad to leave! read more

Just got a 60 minute massage from Sun. It was the best massage I've had in a while. He asked about trouble spots before the massage and tailored the massage perfectly for those places. The pressure was perfect and he made sure to check in to make sure it was good throughout. They have a buy one get one free massage special for first-timers which I unfortunately won't be able to take advantage of as you have to book the second massage within 10 days but great if you live in the city. Will definitely be back though! read more

I completely agree with the other reviewers about Candice. She is fantastic. Her massage was incredibly deep but never overly painful, and she was a wealth of information. She gave me a lot of insight into what was going on with my back and offered great advice. The place itself is clean and relaxing and easy enough to get to in USQ. It is on the pricey side but I do a huge amount of walking and carrying heavy objects for work so massage therapy is very beneficial. Finding someone that works for you is huge. Plus buy one get one free for the first visit is a great offer. Highly recommended! read more

I came in for an hour-long deep tissue massage using a Groupon voucher and despite the fact that I was a few minutes late, the massage was for the full hour. Chrystie was so accommodating and did a great job assessing where my knots were (apparently all over. oy.) and working them through without causing too much pain. I will definitely recommend her to friends/colleagues/etc. Here's the kicker: I wanted to give her a good tip because she did such a great job, but I had to use a credit card. I told her the amount and when I looked at the bill when I got home, I realized that she had charged me less. Needless to say, her massage was worth the bigger tip. Thanks Chrystie! read more

I have been a client at Massage America/Mpower Bodywork for about 7 years. But I just wanted to put in writing how amazing my last massage was. The therapist was so receptive to working with my specific needs and was so accepting of my feedback during the massage. Jay is extraordinary. As an actor I have traveled the country and world and can honestly say his was the best massage I have ever received.
