Mpire offers a good experience for a first timer to the world of gentleman's club. Firstly, about 7 of my friends and I booked a table here during the first weekend of August as part of a bachelorette celebration. The bride to be had no idea, so we wanted to offer her a surprisingly spectacular time with lots of twerking and plenty of champagne. I can't speak on the booking experience because someone else did it but from what I know, it was pretty seamless. We arrived around midnight and were immediately seated. It seems like we were on a lower level with very minimal crowd. There are a number of table sections, a full bar, and 3 small stages where the dancers were. There is also plenty security standing by. We were given a corner table which seemed to give us a great view of everything. Our table included 1 bottle of moet, vodka, a couple chasers, and a bucket of ice. We felt like some celebrities lol. The vibe is very chill. It seems to be a mature crowd. We saw bachelors and couples around, merely minding their own business and enjoying the show. Some were not even paying the dancers attention, just talking and enjoying their drinks. Now the show - Firstly, the dancers were 50/50. I loved that they were from diverse backgrounds. We saw Latina, Black, and White. Also saw a variety of body shapes, from very skinny to thick. I'm not sure if there are other ethnicities or nationalities, but it was nice to see the overall diversity. Some of them appeared natural, while others clearly had some work done to their bodies that did not move when they did lol. Unfortunately, there were only a very few that could really dance. By dance, I mean not just work the poll but move sensually. One in particular was a beautiful thick latina that hardly touched the poll and could barely shake her behind. We felt bored and underwhelmed watching her. Another one that danced in front of us fell off the poll. It was hit or miss honestly. Prior to coming here, we thought it was a topless club. Please note, there is FULL nudity and not a little peek of the booty or flash of a nipple, no it is FULL nudity. At one point, we saw one dancer actually bend over in a man face then lay down an gyrate her crotch in another man's face, all with no panties on. It was a shock for someone like me, who's never been in this space before, but it was definitely entertaining. The music is also boring, so please don't carry any expectations. It was a mixture of dance and EDM music. Not what I would expect for them to really get in the groove to but the dancers did a good job of making it work. One in particular twerked her heart out, another was the most graceful on the pole and put all of them to shame. Finally in terms of service, the staff were very friendly and attentive. Be mindful, photos are not allowed at all. One of my friends attempted to take photos and the security kindly warned her to stop. I'm not even sure how they noticed in such a dark space, but don't try it. One thing I did not like or understand here, is that their kitchen closes at 10pm. After that time, the only thing available is chips and salsa and artichoke dip. For a place that caters to a late night crowd, why would you close the kitchen? It should be open late. They missed out on more money from us as a result because we all had saved an appetite to try the food. I was very disappointed. Overall, it was a good experience. I don't really have much to compare it to as I have never been to a strip club or gentlemen's club before but I enjoyed my time there and I'd recommend to others. read more

MPire will rip you off. Do not go! I know most strip clubs are designed to rip you off but this place is a criminal establishment. Whatever you do do not open a tab. Pay as you go. Will not be back. I gave two stars for the wonderful ladies at the bar and the ONE stripper that was dancing and EARNED her tips (and if I'm being honest even she was lack luster but she was giving more than the other strippers). We walk in, we're seated at a nice spot to see the two strippers on stage. The stripper that is in my direct view, the one closest in proximity to my table got all my money cuz that's the only girl I can actually see. After she's done she comes over to our table and thanks us (since we were the only ones throwing money in the room). The girl on the other side of the room whose dance I did not see comes over to our table after asking for tips for her dance... THAT I DID NOT SEE!! She also didn't ask for money from any of the other "patrons" in the room that were actually closer to her pole than we were! That was so unattractive and a little irksome tbh. We didn't even get to see the major attraction, the real reason we decided to come which was the shower! They shut that down around 1am, which if you're still open I feel like should go until closing. That was disappointing to say the least. The music sucked, was not good at all. Nothing to shake your ass to. And not to mention the girls were not really dancing or doing any tricks or stunts and no show was given. Kinda lazy if you ask me. I mean everybody can't be P-Valley but at least TRY to aspire to be... channel your inner Mercedes so I can get that experience you feel me?! Lol. Waitress come to us after spending tons of money in Drinks and at the girls the waitress come to us telling very Rude if we don't order one more round we have to go, she said : "be careful what you said you might not come here anymore". After this they add 20% gratuity include without telling nobody. We complain and after this the manager ask the Bodyguards to let us out. First timer at Mpire... (3.5 stars if it were allowed) Loved the fact that they have ladies for ALL tastes... ESPECIALLY early on a Wednesday night... VERY clean , upscale vibe... Aesthetics and staff... My ONLY two issues: 1) They auto-grat; did not realize that with the first round of drinks (2 shots; 2 beers $57). 2) The girls need to engage, if not at the very least non-verbally acknowledge the customers (make momentary eye contact, a head nod... something). My point being that we were the only ones there (outside of staff) and we felt like we weren't there at all (for the first couple of dancers). All in all, a great experience.... We were in D.C. for a day , seeing we were invited to a wedding . Now earlier we did the reception thing at The Beacon Hotel where we enjoyed a great meal. Now while enjoying some cocktails at the hotel we were getting a good buzz going on we had asked about the D.C. nightlife. We had asked several bartenders where we could go see some of the female talent D.C. had to offer. Basically we wanted to see some failed ballerinas who couldn't make it to the big show and settle for a brass pole instead. We were given several spots, but they all recommended this place, "Mpire" for the best talent around. The main entrance area looks like this is the upper echelon of the exotic dancing world that was roped off with the "No Sneakers" rule posted up as you enter. Now this place is small , I am pretty sure it was once a row home converted into a club. There are 2 floors to Mpire, which clearly it is like night and day depending on where you choose to venture off to sit. The First Floor ~ (Main Entrance) Dark, and dreary with a main bar in the middle supported by 2 round dance stages. Yes the dancers are fully naked in here with bouncers standing off making sure the ladies are safe. This is the like the dirty dive bar section of this establishment, dark and dreary. The Second Floor~ Here is why I refer to it as "Night and Day", the second floor is bright and clean! It still has the same layout downstairs with the bar in the middle with the 2 stages on the side. I am thinking this is the VIP section of the club. We did get bottle service while we were upstairs, you'd figure you'd get some kind of leeway. The dancers would rotate from upstairs to downstairs so you can take witness to all of them . Now what sets this place different from all the others , being they are fully nude you are not permitted to touch them even at the couch dances. That's right you sit there and watch, and she is pretty much like a foot away from you and that's it basically. You can get away with a little touch of a boobie if you didn't feel like making it rain over top of her. You have to be "ninja-esk" about it, while you are tipping her you can do a subtle swipe of an Index to Pinkie finger while giving her that all mighty dollar. Myself I would place the dollar on my head where she would have to figure out a way to earn that Washington where my hands could not be a part of the transaction. Sometimes it pays to shave your head. This is really a 2 star joint, the reason for the 3rd star is the showers they have over top of you, which is visible to the patrons who are there. Its located on the second floor with 2 showers located at each end of the of the bar. The ladies go inside an all glass encased stall and start dancing while you guess it , taking a shower. Hey go in and take a look if you want, they do have some beautiful women, and then there are some that don't belong there. As far as bottle service they were pretty good about it, so I can't fault them on that. read more

Bad Moms night out. My first time visiting a strip club. I didn't know they were allowed to all of the way nude! The ladies are very attractive and fit but they looked bored. Also after awhile everyone is doing the same tricks and don't stand out. Tips were automatically included on my order of one cocktail and chicken fingers.... to the tune of $27.00. This was my first time going to a strip club I was quite nervous at first but when I walked in it was a really nice set up after they check Id's. The bouncers was really nice and respectful I was seated right next to the stage they cashed my bills for ones. I liked mPire. I didn't pay a cover, but my male friends paid $10 each on a Thursday (don't judge ok, we wanted to keep happy hour going). The club is super new, clean and the aesthetic feels very lux. It is a little brighter than most strip clubs, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. There are three levels, and the upper levels seem to be mainly for bottle service or private dances. My cocktail was $12, stronger than a linebacker, and fairly tasty. The girls were friendly and did a lot of hair flipping and pole tricks. There is this shower box on the second floor where we watched a girl take a shower and do some crazy spider-man style twerking, which was really interesting. Lap dances were $100 per song, so I didn't partake but my friends said his dance was lackluster and they tried to overcharge for two songs. The manager resolved it fairly quickly though. I think this is my favorite strip club in DC but it's really slim pickings. This isn't a normal strip club on the inside it's brighter than normal. The tables are nice and the workers are pretty nice. The girls there are either really fun and having a good time or I've been there when some of them seemed out of it, which made me super uncomfortable. I had a problem once where I told the server to charge me water as a drink and she seemed pissed. Just because I don't think doesn't mean I'm cheap, in fact I normally tip more than anyone, she missed out that night. read more

So I stumbled here trying to go to Camelot and realizing they close at 12 am. This place was 2 doors down and didn't have a cover so why the hell not, first I was taken a back by the small crowd and individualized attention the girls gave the guys in a non pushy (for tips) way! I also came to find out on busy nights there were two more floors I hadn't even seen that include a all glass encased shower. This all said one of the other things I noticed right away was the classy atmosphere and no one running around in a g string/ bra all wasted and grabbing my boobs. This happens a lot and even earlier that night at good guys to me. The man at the door was very dressy and so were the women. I noticed to they had an eclectic variety of skin tone and body style dancers. All very top notch for nova/dc area typical strippers. They were all very kind, outgoing and honestly stunning. The bartenders had very heavy pours on the shots and were super friendly too. The bouncers were protective of the girls but laid back at the same time which was uber refreshing to see too. (One came and collected the singles as the girl was up on the poll and tucked them into her purse!) the front door staff was phenomenal too, I can't wait to go back honestly. This time to see the main floor and upstairs/shower area!!!! All and all I don't, wait CAN'T comprehend why the reviews are so negative. Great, modern club. A needed addition to DC. Dancers are great. Only club in DC I know with dual showers! Solid drinks, though they stretch a little with the cocktails. Went here with a friend who wanted to go on his birthday. Not my kind of business to frequent, but he wanted to go, so whatever. Immediately upon entering were were told it was table/bottle service only, but if we handed $20 each to the doorman upstairs we could get a seat at the bar. Um, ok. From here, the shakedowns just continued. To add insult to injury, I checked my credit card the next day and noticed that they'd charged my credit card for my bill AND some other stranger's bill. Looking for something to do on a Sunday night... Well a gentlemen's club was the answer. Yes a Sunday date night at a strip club... And there were almost as many women guests as men last night. Customer service was great. The club was bright fresh and clean... Quite a contrast to your usual stripper bar. Another contrast, the dancers were mostly tall with natural body parts. They alternated between stripper poles to provide a continuous show. An enormous TV behind the bar broadcast the Ravens v. Pittsburgh. Football and naked people, that's awesome. It is true, get out of control, and a large Russian will show you out. On a relatively quiet Sunday, plenty of seats, service, and dancers. Only the overly juicy cocktails keeps them from 5 stars. Not sure what happened last night. Came out of the bathroom, and my friend had been talking to a girl. (A manager I think) was also over there. Apparently the girl and manager had talked my very intoxicated friend into some type of purchase, which he can't remember and I don't know what it was, as we received nothing. All I heard was, it costs $600. This was our fault as my friend agreed to something, however when I asked about what this mysterious service was, I received no answer and was told no refunds. I like mpire. Probably my fav gentleman's establishment as evidenced by the fact I was there on a Wednesday night,but this was just wrong. I feel like I'm cheating writing this review. I am a regular at Camelot and I love it there with all of its weird and old school idiosyncrasies and whatnots. But I believe in primary sourcing so I gotta check out a place with my own eyes. Like Dave Chappelle joked once about dudes being compelled to enter a strip club: "There's ladies taking their clothes off in there? I'm like a white dude in a horror movie. I have to investigate!" The last time I was here was in 2002 and it was called Joanna's I think. It was, to put it politely, a sh*thole staffed with mean, nasty strippers. It was spare and black and depressing. I'm happy to say that Mpire is NOTHING like that. It's like a dance club (night club? I'm old I don't know what the kids call it nowadays). There are multiple stages on the first floor and there's a lot of modern lighting and bass heavy music. I felt like Paulie Walnuts and I wanted to beat up the beat! It's a totally different feel than Camelot (that's not a diss or anything just different). It's a little too loud for me but I'm lame and old so it's all good. The ladies are crazy hot and it's always nice to see new boobs. I think I might have the boobs at Camelot memorized (again, NOT a bad thing). The bartender I had is super friendly and fast and the dancers are all friendly, too. I ordered the chicken wings and they were strong. It's probably best you don't look at my yelp profile photo and imagine me chomping on wings like an ugly walrus in the middle of beautiful seals. I'm grateful there's no mirrors at the bar. Oh and they played some Dre - my 1990's teenage heart is bumping. They include a gratuity here which I don't love but I was a bartender and server so I'm not mad or anything. The only beef I have is the waitress and bartender uniforms. They look like figure skater outfits and there's no cleavage! I know. I know. I'm an ugly dude and I shouldn't be saying sh*t about other people's appearance. But I'm a breast man! I can't help it! Again, just being thorough here. I like that there's a totally different vibe here from Camelot and that it's next door. I'll probably come back during day shift so my lame old man ass can maybe find less loud music. I've been to the club on two occasions, because I thought maybe the first time was a dud. If I could give it a -1 rating I would. Went this past Friday night with a couple friends, got there around 12. Place is really clean and new. Large ceilings, so doesn't feel like you are packed in. Waitress was quick and courteous. Dancers...not really that attractive in my opinion. We checked out all three levels and ended up on the first floor, which is like general admission. Bottle service usually needed for upper floors. No lap dances or any touching. Girls on stage start off clothed, and then go top and bottomless. This is right next door to another club, which is pretty much the opposite in aesthetic.
